Since Metal Force is the game choice of DTC5, let's create a topic so every team can feed some elaborate lies to each other people can discuss anything there is to discuss about it.

This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. I have found a trick: If you press forward while not being against an obstacle, you move to the right.

Taking damage is bad, I think? Idk, still trying to figure that part out.

It looks like some players have been working on a Game Resources page. Still a work in progress, but it will be expanded with some cool stuff, no doubt.

Wait a sec, how do you make these TAS things again? I plug my NES controller in and hit record on my VCR...

What does this even mean? Please elaborate! It is very irritating that you claim you found some movement trick and refuse to tell everyone how to do it exactly! Please avoid technical jargon around here. Just because you understand how to do it doesn't mean everyone around here has the same level of expertise. Status update: I am now about 50% into starting the emulator, but I need to redo the first mouse click again, because it is very hard to get the second click to hit the same icon while also counting it as a double click. It gets even harder, because I often hit the wrong banner and then some interesting pop-up windows pop up and I get very very badly distracted.

I've been hanging around for a while, but I'm kinda new to actually TASing.. I was hoping you guys could explain something to me.. I obviously figured out how to manipulate this guy so you don't have to wait to go up the ladder, but after I do it, it always causes one frame of lag right here: I tried shooting the little floaty guy but then it makes the manipulation not work. I know I can get this lag-free, but I need your help!! :(

I'd love to offer a possible solution, but doing so would be such a conflict of interest in the spirit of this competition. But where there's a will, there's a way!

I don't like this post. If you are really trying to get help, I think it is not in the spirit of the competition. You have teammates, rely on them! I think the most exciting thing about the competition is finding out what everyone came up with at the end. If it is an attempt at sarcasm (in the spirit of this thread), I think it is a bit too subtle.
It's hard to look this good. My TAS projects

Well, I suppose I can't try to keep up a charade after a post like that. It is most certainly not a sincere request for help. It was primarily an attempt to be funny in the spirit of the thread, but also intentionally pretty subtle, on the off chance that it might sow a bit of confusion among the competition. I mostly expected everyone to get it, though.. If you feel that it was in sufficiently poor taste, I won't object to the last four posts being deleted, but I still think it's pretty funny :P EDIT: Also, if your response was the best way you thought of to make sure I was joking before spending your time investigating my claims... well played.

Well, that's good, but this is not the route you should be taking anyway. Just use the other route to avoid the lag and save ~3 seconds. I am currently optimizing my emulator settings, so can't help you any more than this.

1. visit jessica in town 2. trade 8 health for "Blasphemy Orb" 3. save the game 4. load the game This way enemies will walk slower, reducing your expected life span and soda drinking habit.

Thanks so much Aqfaq and MESHUGGAH! With your assistance I've gotten my total TAS time down to three trillionths of a subframe. I'm sure due to my amateur skills I still won't come close to the top teams, but at least now I have an entry I can be proud of!

Okay, I'm just gonna come out and say it. I'm sick and tired of all the joking around in this thread. Some of us are working extremely hard for this contest and it's discouraging to come into a thread expecting help and advice, only to get nothing but sarcasm. I propose we put a stop to this and make this thread serious from now on. The spirit of friendly competition is that it remains friendly. We're competing, but we're still a community at heart, so we should be helping each other. Here's a small part of TEAM SAD's progress. I'd like some opinions on what we're doing right and wrong. I think the weapon switching is optimal, but we're having some issues with killing enemies quickly anyway. Any thoughts? Link to video
