Thank you! Turns out, the forum considers you a “newbie” until you post 30 times, apparently.

At least he correctly identified you as the DoT skip finder. You'd be surprised at how much ignorance still exists about that. Enjoyed the video overall though. Makes me really want to see a new TAS done at some point. Maybe I'll try to do that over Christmas if I have time.

TBF, Kazooie was the first to publicly announce it, but we were secretly working on a TAS, which included it. The folks at SDA weren't aware of that. Thus thought I had sinister motives for not revealing it earlier. They were a lot of glitch discoveries not mentioned in the video. Given that the bulk of the discoveries came in the 06-07 period. The most major one he missed was Ganon Early. Something I found before Guanobowl started working on his TAS. I nor anyone else attempted to try the light arrows on B route, because of the ridiculously hard multi-phase skip to get into the castle. Combined with the possibility of not being able to one cycle Ganondorf.

A new glitch was discovered that technically allows for the skipping of Goron and Zora tunics, but doing so would involve going through any heated or underwater areas without any damage boosts or whatnot.

This was brought up a few weeks ago, but for for anyone who doesn't follow the oot community closely, a hilariously awful quirk known as crit walk was figured out. If you're at 1 heart or less health, on every 256th visual frame (i.e. frame 0x000, frame 0x100, frame 0x200 etc) starting from entering the scene, the game will alter your "forward facing" direction by a random amount between 0 and 10000 rotational units, or 0 to about 54.9 degrees to the left. This code is located within the NORM1 camera function (NTSC 1.0 80038A14, offending code starts around 8003936C), so it doesn't come into play with all camera states, like Z-Targeting for instance

Jabo video plugin for N64 TASes has been deprecated. Thread #20237: Deprecation of Jabo video plugin All TAS submissions using Jabo from now on will be encoded with minimal and default settings.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

First time checking this thread in monts, there doesn't seem to be much going on regarding OoT TAS'ing, or is there progress being discussed somewhere else that I am unaware of?

This https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxAxlK5VLRo has been discovered a few days ago, we are still messing around with it, but it's likely to lead to a new TAS, this one would be quite exciting as it """should""" be N64 friendly ! It skips ganondorf cutscene but requires bombchus, however we think it should still be faster for a TAS. The route will probably look something like this: -Buy nuts and sticks -Escape the forest -Go to Kakariko -Get the legit bottle -Enter the well -Blank A glitch to get bombchus -Go back to Kokiri forest -Deku tree cutscene skip -Skip pretty much the whole dungeon with a megaflip -Gohma clip with bombchus -Wrong warp, then collapse skip -Finish the game "normally"
"Lol as far as I'm aware no distinguished TASer gives a f*ck what's accepted. I certainly don't like Bizhawk but I'm glad to hear at least some TASers are picking up the better emulator" a distinguished TASer Working on: -OoT No RBA/WW -Zapper 100% _______________________________________ Follow me on http://www.twitch.tv/amateseru :)

I doubt that would be faster than the current GIM route.

I remember when everyone doubted Spider-Waffle when he said swordless would be faster =)

Why hasn't this been submitted to tasvideos?

Because he used a method of GIM that is known to crash on N64 and can only be done on an N64 emulator if you use a broken graphics plugin. He knows the TAS would get rejected for that reason.

Why not make the same TAS using Dolphin and the Wii VC version of the game? It's my understanding that it works fine there, and can be TASed just fine, and will be accepted at tasvideos. I would love to see an any% TAS officially published. Heck, I would do one myself, but the level of optimization and work, and required knowledge, is just enormous. Someone who knows the game inside out, and has tons of experience in TASing it, would be much more suited for the job.
