There aren't any. Zelda runners are fucking insane with the grinding things out and setups. A TAS will rely more on explosives and pull off things a lot quicker, which might change routes, but general tricks and strats are the same. I mean for example, I think for an all dungeons TAS it would be better to pull off the redead BK skip in shadow temple seen in swordless' TAS (combined with the new ledge clip BK skip, for shorter however), instead of burning eyeballfrog for a WW to Bongo, and then use eyeballfrog to warp to the credits (that is only one point where abeshi's route falls short). But that is still all using tricks and strats RTA uses, too. It's just not worth the risk and time it would take for RTA (until somebody gets really crazy and then everybody will do it). There is one thing I can think off in MM that RTA can't pull off, to my knowledge, but that's about it.

Z-slide ? A-slide ? Also the wrong warp chus% is not really "possible" in RTA I think there is a way to get fire arrows in deset colossus thanks to GIM (by humping the silver gauntlets chest) but you have to do a crazy long hover with a guay this is just not possible in RTA, literraly. Also I think there is a wrong warp that is TAS only ? I saw a vid of it in fire temple and this is used in ganonless TAS I guess. There are probably other stuff

do you have a video of the fire arrow thing lol?
I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

Both possible in RTA. Z-slides are quite often used (although maybe not as much today anymore, not really up to date). Ofcourse they can't be used for long, but can be used to keep momentum for a while. But most importantly, they are both documented on ZSR.

You can just hover to the chest with explosives. Not sure what the wrong warp in chus% is. I don't follow categories nobody runs. But usually things are possible, just too hard to consistently pull off. Doesn't mean they aren't documented and some day it won't become the new standard. A lot of things thought to be impossible became standard later on.

Guess you got me there. You don't have to use OI (which requires a bottle) or a text box (which required downA and swordless) if you press B every other frame for a certain amount of time. It's something that RTA can't do. But even that could be documented on ZSR if somebody were to post it there. And since everybody can get editing privilages there, you guys have only yourself to blame. ;p

Well ok I agree for the slides. You can't hover to the chest that would be to easy x) the problem when you do GIM is: you can't use explosives, technically you can but you'll just drop it and it will never explodes :/ The wrong warp chus% was supposed to be the new TAS and I said not "possible" because yes indeed this is possible in RTA (this is even how I discovered it, I just used savestates) but this is just insane to pull it of in RTA. But anyway I never really watch strats/discoveries etc... on TASvideo, I have enough knowledge for usual stuff x)

For an easier viewing, I upload the run on YouTube in one video. Here is the link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs2iEE0KTAQ.

we just uploaded the new TAS world record in ocarina of time. timing is 16:47,97 could be done at least 20 sec. faster but we are happy with the result and focusing on a different project. enjoy watching: http://youtu.be/ZKVN2_ECzy8

Do you plan on submitting it? I watched 2 minutes so far, I liked the switching off and on of the map. I watched it all now. Really interesting that trick to get a bottle. I liked the switching on and off of the map during the rupee collecting.

I hate to be the one that brings this up, but this isn't legit. GIM doesn't work on N64, it only works on emulator because of inaccurate emulation. So this unfortunately can't be accepted on this site.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

It can probably be accepted played through Dolphin as the game was officially released as a Wii VC game.

I wouldn't recommend Wii VC; as Dolphin has issues with it. GC N64 emulation works fine; so the Collector's Edition should be fine.

If I were TASing this game, I would use the Gamecube version.

Fun fact, you can't do GIM in iQue, for the same reason you can't do it on N64.

Here is one explanation: http://pastebin.com/FqqFQLvA Just note that some of that info is outdated, because I'm lazy to update it further.

Great work moronic & gctk! Well executed and in only 3 days. Gratz on the amazing result both of you. I would have loved to see the legit route as it hasn't been TAS'ed yet, but this was good as well. What made you choose the emulator-only route? Also I think it was MrGrunz once who said that the blue rupee in the shop is slower than slashing bushes. (I am sure he can correct me if I am mistaken) Anyways I enjoyed the run and hope to see you guys try to beat it later!

Thank you very much :) we didn't really think much about how we start the TAS. We just ran mupen because we're used to it and started TASing :D of course there are a few things that could be improved. But as we said, we're more focussed on our 100% TAS which should be done in about 2 months. we might re-TAS that GIM route than.

two months?! Wow. Is there a thread for that? I wanna know everything about that TAS! I've always wanted to see a 100% TAS and I never thought one would be made! What is your 100% definition, by the way?

If you're loading an OOT save in Twinmold's boss room, that definitely has potential to put garbage all over the place.

Can you please not use mupen for that too? It's going to cause lots of frustration for encoders and viewers. :P

There's no thread for that. my definition looks pretty much like rta :) no compass/map etc We are using mupen, because we don't even checked bizhawk out. Why would it cause frustation ?

Post #407418 This happens quite often with Mupen on other games as well, making TASes take far longer than others to publish.

Most importantly, I hope you didn't use GIM in that TAS. Would be a shame if the first completed 100% couldn't be published here.
