Hi, I have done this Zone, Act 2 in this game because this is my first TAS video and i would like to see how I did. Also, this zone, the Flying battery Zone is one of my favorite zones and I would like to show it to you how I did it. I didn't use glitches, only one, because glitches are boring and you can't know what is the fastest way defeating the level. I hope you enjoy it!
Sonic & Knuckles is a 1994 platform video game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series for the Sega Genesis. It was developed in the United States at Sega Technical Institute by members of Sonic Team, and was published by Sega worldwide on October 18, 1994.
In addition to being a standalone game, through a system dubbed "lock-on technology," Sonic & Knuckles acts as an expansion pack to both Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the latter with which it was developed in tandem.
Sonic & Knuckles has been released on various Sonic and Sega themed compilations over the years, and digitally for the Wii's Virtual Console, and Xbox Live Arcade.

feos: Hi marko97_sx, and welcome to TASVideos! It's good to see you trying to TAS, but unfortunately, your movie violates a whole bunch of movie rules that are linked from the Submit Movie page (that you have certainly visited):
I'm cancelling your submission now. Next time, please ensure to meet all the movie rules. Guidelines are also a very useful read if you are going to make a good TAS. Post your movies to Userfiles and share the link on Forum, so that others could help you improving your run.

Genesis Sonic 3 & Knuckles "Flying Battery Zone Act 2" in 03:55.7
Strike one. Single level videos aren't allowed, only full games. Single levels should be confined to game threads or userfiles.
Hi, I have done this Zone, Act 2 in this game because this is my first TAS video and i would like to see how I did.
Strike two. Never, ever submit your first TAS. There are always improvements to be made. Always. Finish a run. Try to improve it. Try to improve it again. Try to improve it over and over until you can't improve it anymore.
I didn't use glitches, only one, because glitches are boring and you can't know what is the fastest way defeating the level.
Strike three. The fastest way of finishing Flying Battery Zone has been demonstrated in much better TASes than this. Study other runs before making one of your own.

How's it going, Marko? Like Samsara stated, this website (with rare exceptions) only accepts TASes of fully completed games. If you want community feedback for just a single level, it is best to post a WIP of it in its respective forum. Also, not to discourage you, but Sonic games are among the most highly optimized TASes on here. It would really require a long-term, diligent time investment to beat one of these records. Welcome to the community!

Kids, there's nothing more cool than submitting a TAS for a game you like. But if someone tries to submit a run for a game that's just one level or of poor quality, that's no good! It's against the movie guidelines, no one can just submit bad runs if they're not up to site quality. So, what do you do? First, you say NO and cancel this submission! Then, you upload it to userfiles! Most important, you gotta tell someone you trust, like the discussion thread, the community, the IRC channel!

Hi marko97_sx. TASVideos doesn't accept individual level TASes of games that can be played sequentially from a new game to the credits (such as this game, where you go start - angel island - ... - death egg - credits). For TASes that aren't intended to be TASVideos submissions/publications, post them in the relevant thread for the game. For Sonic 3 & Knuckles, you'd post it here, for example: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5904&start=1020 Enjoy TASing!

Sadly your 3:55.7 time even for a single level is over 3 times as long as the time this level took when glitching. Looking at Nitsuja and Upthorn's TAS of this they took 1:11 game time to beat Act 2 of Flying Battery Zone. You may personally think glitches are boring, but without them it is clearly FAR slower. It is true that the game may still be beaten faster, people may either find better optimisation or even manage to find a way to execute an arbitrary code or skip to the game end screen like in Super Mario World. (which would be an amazing thing to see as with every game they manage to do that with!) But whatever way is found to increase the speed, it is a fact it will be through glitches as can be seen they just make the game so much faster, it would be impossible to compensate without being able to use them in one way or another. I do admire the fact you want to avoid glitches, but you will need to find a different game to do that with which would be able to be beaten fast and be entertaining enough for people to be willing to accept a none glitched run with. Usually though such runs are only accepted when the runs that do use glitches are not entertaining to watch (like you can't actually see anything on the screen) so they will accept a slower run not using them for entertainment reasons to actually be able to enjoy it.
Enjoys speedruns but hasn't actually tried making any yet.

Is his time 3:55.7 for the in-game time or for everything in the run? From the submission title, I think it is for the whole movie, but since BizHawk doesn't work on Linux (and the Linux version from the thread crashes on start), I have no way of knowing. Edit: Actually, there was -- I opened the input file in a text editor and saw that 3:55.7 is for the whole movie. There is also evidence of losing time when charging spindashes, and the level select activation seems sloppy too. Does not inspire much confidence...
