Tell me what you think of the pathing of stage 2 and 3. I do know the RTS is faster at the police car part(cause he picks up the car faster)
How many rings are you allowed to skip? Does it vary by stage? Also How does the RTS pick the car faster? Better spawning?
Always 4 rings for each stage it looks like so far. I'll need to go back and re-do stage 2, I think maybe I should use those ring misses at the very beginning around the bend. Link to video

If you're going to redo the earlier stages, try figuring out how to recreate what happened at the police section for the RTS.

I will be. going back to Rings Stage 2 to find a shorter route with the other ring misses I didn't use.

Link to video Start @ 136, redid two of the routes, gained less than a second on Stage 3(timer still ends at 59 though), and Stage 4 rings - gained a second. Cant replicate how alec did the police chase so fast so I tried to improve it best I could. The Dark shadows done 4 seconds faster should compensate for it if anything.

Try asking alec how he did it. Also at the first car section, what's with the 2nd car you pick up? :o

I think it looks good so far, though like jlun2 said, you may have to ask aleckermit how he did the police chase so you might be able to improve it. By the way, doesn't flying into the Dark Shadows kill them instantly? I thought I saw that in a Let's Play once.

Probably right, hopefully he sees this thread again soon. the 2nd car pick up im just playing around with the car, you have to wait for both timers to go out anyways so I just keep throwing it lol and CoolKirby, ill test that out but it may be hard to fly around and hit all 4 of them.

Sorry i havent been around much, no proper internet in my apartment yet. I did the cop carry mission fast you say? This is prob due to how the car was picked up, when superman picks something up while flying sometimes he gets a boost of speed along the ground. Try grabbing the car at a lower flying height/different angle. Plz do get in touch with me before each indoor stage as i have insight into new/tas strats. My youtube message box is the easiest way to reach me. Havent read much of this thread but i hope you guys figure out the speed flying glitch.

On the police car stage, I was able to finish it four frames faster by just tilting up and down in height as I was flying. Odd I may try doing it every other frame to see if it'll act as a speed boost.

I can now see why this game is regarded as the worst game ever made. All that aside, I found it hilarious that you went outside of the rings and it still counted. This is going to be great, I could watch this all day.

Haha yeah I'm still trying to find fast routes but when possible I make sure to try and be outside rings if I can still get them counted p If I was smarter at memory hacking it would be such a trouble figuring out speed. Well except for fighing sequence. I would have left it in if it didn't take so long, but during the dark shadows(not in recent videos), at a certain angle you can walk into a dark shadow and it'll fling a different dark shadow way off into the sky and he takes 8 seconds to come back down.

I suggest you do the following: 1) Stand on the ground. 2) Jump in the air and assert that the memory address (of type float) has raised. 3) Land again and assert that it has lowered. 4) Repeat until you can see a memory address that looks like Z. Save it. (It's possible that Z decreases as you go higher in the air, so if this doesn't work try the reverse steps.) 5) Look at all memory addresses near Z. You will probably find things like X and Y and angles and speeds, as all the memory for an entity tends to be stored contiguously.

Please all speeds/ angles be right next to each other!! haha.. what about bytes when ram searching? is there a difference when searching betwen 1, 2, and 4 bytes? Eh?? (Ram Watch) http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/13722161199928521

Color me impressed Solarplex, great work. For the current level "Dam" the strats don't change much for TAS. Killing the robot that hovers above the ice breath powerup is not required, it just happened in the route video because it's tricky not to grab him. You can OoB from the first bomb room in two different ways: Through the ceiling or through the floor. Ceiling should be faster. Dunno if there's emulator lag but on console ice breath lags the game really bad when you're too close to the thing you're freezing. Since you're making such quick progress here's some info on the next indoor level, Lexcorp: Instead of clipping into the wall as the route video does, fly/run through elevator door. It's totally clippable as most doors in this game are. Then the 5 notes have to be read to end the level. Avoid getting hit by the boss. In upcoming indoor levels there are enemies you HAVE to kill and specific objectives you HAVE to complete, figuring out what's required and what was done for convenience/on accident in the route videos can be tricky so just make sure you get with me about that stuff before you start the level. Should have internet up at home in the next couple of days, maybe we can discuss things over skype.

Indoors are going to be a problem for me at the moment. Once I can figure out how to brighten up bizhawk so I can actually see clipping, itll be easier. but right now superman indoor levels are really really dark. I finally found where the superbreath is, just testing around. have no idea how I got there so itll be tricky finding it quickly in the TAS atm so I'll keep testing. Superbreath is down low, but the bombs are above you right?

If it's a float (like x/y/z in a 3D game), it's probably 4 bytes but could be 2. If it's an angle it's probably 2 or 4 bytes. If it's a small number, it's probably 1 byte.

From the first room ice breath is slightly low on the other side of the canal ya, and after getting ice breath the first bomb room is back the way you just came but higher up once you pass the water. Do get that visibility fixed xP. PS: You may be able to clip OoB without any kind of setup (ie: fly directly into a corner and pass through). I know it's happened to me a couple times but not often.

wasnt able to get a fly through the door. I could sometimes get close to the wall and then jump to fly and would pass through the side wall. I went with what was consistent though, didn't waste much time and flight patterns are still decent! Link to video

First bomb freezing looked a little slow like your aim was off at the beginning. Compare it to the second bomb, you'll see. Rest looked fine. As you've probably noticed, the end of outdoor enemy stages are triggered when all of the death animations for the enemies have ended. So for the upcoming mine dropper bit you'll want to throw the last mine dropper into the building to make him explode ASAP. Same applies to henchmen, cars, etc coming up. You can also ram two enemies into each other for a double instant kill iirc (fly into an enemy while carrying another), mess around with that. Flying into a wall while carrying an enemy is also an instant kill. Hope to see a lot of play-around on the skateboarder mission where you have to wait forever. Maybe find a way to push him along faster withiout killing him/failing? For Lexcorp you might be able to read the 5 notes at the end while mid-air.

I'll redo the indoor again now that I know where things are. Thanks for info! If I can't push the skateboard along I'll just make sure I do the fun play around stuff

Just like you said alec so far! Redid bomb mission so that I do the first bomb quicker, as well as flying closer to the door instead of walking. For the next flying level, i was sooo close to not having to move with the moving rings! it looks pretty sweet still :) Next up mine droppers, where I'll grab one, and ram into another then grab the last one and fly into the wall.
