Through bribing the Master Librarian with fine cutlery to allow us to do what can only be described as one step above blatant cheating, we are the wind

Game objectives

  • PSXjin v2.0.2
  • Abuses programming errors
  • Takes damage to save time
  • Manipulates luck
  • Corrupts save data

Comments

This is an any% run that uses a very different route from the previous submission. Using save corruption, one can trigger a glitch that allows you to overflow the boundaries of the inventory menu and use the menu's sort feature to pull values from unrelated sections of the game's code around as you see fit. We use this here to write a program that triggers the good ending, to put it as simply as possible. Will write a better description eventually

Noxxa: Judging.
Noxxa: Accepting to Moons as a new category. This category will be any%, while the current any% will be relabeled as "no memory corruption" or a similar descriptive tag.
Guga: Processing...

Wait, does this mean we could see an "executes arbitrary code" run in the near future?

Wow, I don't even. Glad to finally see a full TAS with the memory corruption stuffs. Yes vote. Also, it has been some time since I've seen any run with the cutscenes still in. Made me remember this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUMfyWhu2RM here's an encode without cutscenes. time in the title comes from RTA timing, as members of the community asked me to time it out assuming power-on and cutscenes aren't included.

Wow, another arbitrary code execution run, and this time on the PSX! Pretty cool! Can't wait to read about the detailed explanation as to what is happening!

Can't wait for a final encode, since the youtube-upload is again blocked in germany.

Because the Lords of Germany Internet hate anything Castlevania. I notice that my Rondo/DXC encodes get blocked in Germany all the time.

For whatever reason, Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night, and the original NES Castlevania are all blocked in Germany. There's always Proxtube of course, but that's not really a solution for the long term.

Brief summary: - Tell me what you need. - I nee... - Eh! Ding ding ding ding ding ending.
Warning: When making decisions, I try to collect as much data as possible before actually deciding. I try to abstract away and see the principles behind real world events and people's opinions. I try to generalize them and turn into something clear and reusable. I hate depending on unpredictable and having to make lottery guesses. Any problem can be solved by systems thinking and acting.

But not Bloodlines, the one that actually makes [kinda] bad references to Germany?

It's not censorship, it's copyright. It's not blocked by our government, it's blocked by youtube.
Unfortunately, this SME-music-content is not available in Germany because GEMA has not granted the respective music publishing rights. Sorry about that.
There is no "fair use" clause in germany, so any unlicensed display of copyrighted works is by definition a copyright violation. Yes, this includes videos of games, since they always contain copyrighted artwork and music. Strictly speaking, we'd need the copyright holder's permission. The good news is that nobody cares, but it's still a legal minefield. What happened here is the GEMA. The GEMA is a central authority for licensing copyrighted works. The idea is that, for example, a radio station does not have to hunt down contracts with every single artist they want to play music from. They just make a contract with GEMA, play their songs, and at the end of the day, they give a list of songs they played and a bunch of money to the GEMA and they distribute it to the artists. A good thing, in theory. Now the GEMA sued google for breach of copyright and they demanded payments. Other licensing organisations in other countries did the same, they made a contract with google, and google paid up. Problem is, the GEMA is demanding an order of magnitude higher licensing fees than the others did; effectively they want more money than youtube makes. So google said "nope, screw you", got a copy of the GEMAs music library, fed it into their ContentID system, and is now blocking every video with music that has been released on CD in germany. Which includes some video game soundtracks. It's often ok, since the music is overlaid by sound fx and doesn't get recognized, but (for example) "I am the wind" during the credits is a good way to get blocked. </offtopic>
