Werster just got a good time using the glitch! 2:04:07 RTA. The prior glitch part wasn't very optimal, but he had a lot of luck with having the glitch set up. Iirc getting the Ever Grande Fly flag took 4 attempts, and the IFG move took one attempt.

He had ~11% chance to get EGFL (Ever Grande Fly Location) with 4 corruptions, cut by a reset (an unlucky reset furthermore). For the Glitch Move, he had high chances to get one that would work (0x4000 and 0x0400 for Fluffy Tail Glitch Move, 0x0411 0x0537 for Instant Flee Glitch Move, that can be on slot 2 or 4)(the corrupted identifiant can come from a PID corruption, a TID corruption, or a Move2/4 corruption, so 4 sources of corruption). 5 Wingulls suffer from different corruptions, which raises the chances to fell on a good corruption (there's too many cases for me to mathematically evaluate it, but it's high). I would have said that he could make it below 2 hours, but he would need some luck again on EGFL since one corruption takes around 40 secs, so that's discutable. But Werster is pretty happy about his run, so I shouldn't be all might on a sub-2 hours run (2:04 is still really cool, with an in-game time below 2 hours).

Posting here instead since I don't want it to get lost on the submission thread:
The data we want to corrupt is Move identifiant to get a certain Glitch Move. There are 354 moves in 3rd Generation. Any move with an identifiant higher than 354 will have its characteristics read on ROM adresses not affected for this, meaning that this move can have nearly any combination of characteristics. ex : Move with a sleeping effect, Dragon type, 241 Base Power, 115 PPs, 130% Precision, 187% of Effect Precision, and a Priority of 15.
That sounds incredibly overpowered. Since it was mentioned it's possible to transfer to D/P/Pt but with somewhat different effects, I think this may warrant further research. :o

The characteristics of Glitch Moves only depend on ROM data below Move data (a pointer uses the Move identifiant to see what adresses should contain the Move data). And as the majority of data bayond Move data differs in GBA Pokemon ROMS (data not being at the same position for majority), the effect of a certain Glitch Move depends from the ROM you're on. (the region also counts : I had to redo my glitch move research for speedrun since I started it on a FR Emerald because of this). Since there's around 65.000 Glitch Moves, with ~240 effects, and 17 types, you're nearly sure to find a move that would suit your desires. For a run that would beat Battle Frontier, I successfully found Glitch Moves with Fissure Effect, Priority, more than 100% accuracy, Glitch type, and a ton of PPs. The glitch types are the same as ??? type : neutral to everything. There's a dozen of glitch effects, but I haven't tested them, so I don't know if they do something. The glitch move name seems sometime to force the console to execute a loop, rewriting almost all RAM data (inducing a freeze or a reset). The Glitch Move name also oftenly rewrites battle mode data, inducing quick/interminable battles where you have a hard time killing your opponent (and winning the battle). I don't know how animations are read, but a Glitch move animation can work or not depending on the frame you attack. I was once able to change the battle theme to the FrLg Rival Theme, but I couldn't reproduce it, since most of the time, the glitch animation crashes the game. I also don't know which part of a Glitch Pokemon forces the console to read data at a certain adress, and execute it as code. If this is linked to the Glitch Pokemon name /species name, the same thing might be done with glitch Moves. For 4th gen, I don't know what are the possible effects a Glitch Move can have, since the videos about "Super Glitch Move" show a lot more effects compared to what a 3rd Gen Glitch move can do. I tried transferring Glitch Pokemon and Glitch Items, but they're not read or not accepted by Pal Park.

I'm not sure how relevant this is to a TAS, but when watching back the run, I wondered how insta win can be used in Battle Frontier, which made led me to some questions: 1. Is this abusable in the Battle Palace? 2. It was mentioned 2 silver symbols can corrupted. Which ones? I know this would make it technically pointless since you still need to do the amount of floors/rounds + whatever gold needs to get the gold symbols, but... 3. Can the amount of floors/rounds for battle frontier be corrupted? 4. If the above is possible, what happens if you managed to get to the round needed for gold symbol without ever receiving a silver one? 5. Not exactly related, but assuming you used instawin for battle tower, is there even a limit for how many floors you can reach?

1) Insta Win can be abused in Battle Tower (except for Leader fight I think) but I don't know if it would be really needed. For Battle Palace, I still haven't tested that, but someone said it worked. For the other Battle Frontier Zones, you're considered as losing your fight, so you have to use other Glitch Moves to quickly win. 2) I don't remember which Silver Symbols could be corrupted, as it wasn't useful at all. I apparently wrote about 5 Symbols in an old post, but I didn't write anything more on this (I'd have to test it again). 3) This is a good question, and the answer is : It could, but I haven't tested that yet. Because the current streak / best streak are stored into words, and the corruption happens on double words, it depends on where the current streak value is stored (left or right of the double-word). I'm not sure if these values are subject to the DMA value modication, because if they aren't, the corrupted value will be too high to be useful (like 1280 consecutive wins). There's also a bit for the "pause" option in Battle Zones, but it can't be triggered by a simple corruption (it allows you to directly go back into fights, meaning that you can maybe get your own team for a Battle Factory fight). It can be corrupted by mass RAM writing, but this branch is still under work, we don't have setups or anything to produce a clear RAM Corruptio that lets you do some stuff without a freeze. 4) It's a good idea, as you could unlock Gold Symbol, or only unlock Silver one. By seeing how scripts are made, I would say that the scripts for Silver and Gold fights are completely separated so getting on the 2nd Leader fight should give you the Gold Symbol directly. Or you can use ACE (if there's better manipulations to do with it) to get all the symbols quickly as you only have to rewrite a word. 5) Well, I think the counter will get stuck at 0xFFFF (or will maybe loop), and the displayer at 9.999, but there shouldn't be anything preventing you from continuing your battles.

I wonder what this is? It's a Japanese Emerald "TAS" where the runner tries to escape from the Professor Birch battle eight times, then do some specific things in Birch's lab to warp to the Hall of Fame (including walking around in a certain way, menu flashing maybe to manipulate the memory address locations?). I hope it's not fake. They said that you need a specific Trainer ID, which in this video is 59368. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm14023790

It's fake, according to the hidden run comments that are spoilered out with white-on-white text. It used a modified Emerald ROM.

I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

I'd support that as well because of being more "completionist" along with being quite interesting to see a 100% pokemon TAS in a non-first generation game.

The difference with the 7 Symbol would mainly be the Pokedex Completion. I don't really know how long it would take to make it, and how many Pokemon stealing would be needed. For the contests, Pomeg Glitch could directly trigger the star with multiple corruptions, but I'm not sure (you only need to alter the paintings data to make the game think you have them) if the Pomeg Glitch data corruption would be enough. If not, a corrupted Pokemon with nearly all ribbons would only have to pass all Master Ranks (maybe with some condition as he wouldn't have much).

Well,i would also like it,but it's up to the TASer to see how feasible it is to add such objectives.The side objectives should be done before the elite4,in case saving the game ruins the corruption made with pomeg.And you could end with the steven stone battle or diploma too?LOL,that would take so much time,sorry for suggesting so many things.

Even if a run were to be considered or worked on with those wanted things, I'm pretty sure that they'd warrant a separate branch from the published run. Not only that, but the entertainment factor would be questionable at the least.
