Game objectives

  • Emulator used: desmume-0.9.8_r4382 and Advanced Bus-Level Timing OFF
  • Aim For Fastest Time
  • Uses zipping glitch
  • Manipulates luck
  • Takes Damage To Save Time

About the run

This is an improvement Version of McBobXs run. 701frame was updated (There are many lugs 26 Frames by the difference in emulator version. When it is included, it is improvement of 727Frames).

Tricks

Route

The route is fundamentally the same as TAS of McBobX and gocha.

An improving point

Prologue

  1. Action of skeleton was manipulated and kill was carried out early.
  2. Last attack of Golem is changed into knife.

~flying armer battle

  1. The damage of Warg is optimized.
  2. A zombie's appearance is optimized.
  3. Leather Armer is droped and damage margin is increased.
  4. soul of axe armer is acquired LVUP and it is motion reduction.
  5. Random number adjustment was strengthened and an enemy's action was optimized.

flying armer battle

  1. It adjusts so that flying armer may move to the left, and a kill position is optimized.There is also an Attack efficiency increase by LVUP.

~Balore battle

  1. Optimization of various movements.
  2. Random number adjustment was strengthened and an enemy's action was optimized.

Balore battle

  1. The number of times of use of armer knight was restricted, and the number of times of use of axe armer was increased once.This is more efficient.

~Warp room

  1. Optimization of various movements.
  2. The kill number of enemies was restricted and exp was reduced. This increased the next enemy kill number.

~Dmitrii battle

  1. Optimization of various movements.
  2. Random number adjustment was strengthened and an enemy's action was optimized.
  3. The enemy's klll was increased and movement was optimized.
  4. Damrge was increased and movement was optimized.

Dmitrii battle

  1. Attack efficiency has been improved and the number of times of use of yorick was reduced once.

zipping glitch

  1. Malphas (020F710A|higher 4 bits) was acquired by the addition.
  2. The writing to start from suspend(x:020F7018|4 bytes y:020F701C|4 bytes) was optimized.

~Movie END

  1.  Movement speed was made to raise by new movement which uses Malphas and Black Panther.

Damn there's so many little touches (literally I guess with the touch screen) that make this run more entertaining... I love seeing you draw around the Magic seal door while it makes you wait for it to animate it. I love you spelling TAS in the ice blocks and "destroying them" with a weapon slash or leg sweep... Also I love comparison videos showing new vs old.. Damn near every room has improvements seemingly from your shuffling skills :P It's neat to see some frame loss too in the comparison. I am technically sad to see that this new run didn't discover some new faster way of moving.. It seems to me that every Castlevania TAS has a new movement, but it beats Jonathan/Charlotto anyway :P

Couldn't remember previous run, so I had to watch it twice(each encode you posted). Very brilliant to break the game even further. Easy yes here.

Definite improvements, the side-by-side was a little confusing at first until I realized that the right half was waiting for the left one to catch up between rooms. The ice was a nice touch as said, but there were some "entertainment" parts that looked a little sloppier due to the faster movement (later skidding/stopping area), but it's not a large tradeoff for entertainment or anything, and likely wouldn't even be noted without a side-by-side.

I really liked the minor optimizations, such as equipping the Flying Armor early and the improved damage boosts in the Warg corridor, to name a few. Caught me by surprise, to say the least. Have a yes vote =) Anyways, I started theorycrafting for a faster Black Panther movement pattern when I finished my 100%. I did notice that kicking made you go a little faster, so I figured if you use the hippogryph pattern, except with Black Panther activated, as fast as possible you should go a little faster than just using Black Panther all the time. Anyways, it seems you managed to figure out an even better pattern, since doing it as fast as possible only gives you about 21500~speed. However, doing it as fast as possible allows you to do it in places where there's not enough room to jump as high as it is required by this new pattern. Surely this should save a few frames. Also, I'm not entirely convinced that Yorick is the fastest for Dimitrii. It feels like Slaughterer would be a good alternative. I would like to test this but I have to say that lately I've not been in the mood for TASing.

Have you tried to collect two souls from the first Golem? I ever collected a soul (inevitably) and a spear (randomly) from the first Armor Knight. If it is able to collect one more soul of Golem, it will save time.

I am almost certain you can't collect two souls from one kill.

So, I hate to point this out, but there seems to already be an obsoletion of this TAS, by the same author, no less. [TAS] 悪魔城ドラキュラ 蒼月の十字架 in 4:42.77 [mtbりc] Link to video It was uploaded March 18, only a few days ago, so maybe he hasn't submitted the improvement yet. Also, Dimitrii is skipped completely, so Kriole, don't worry about testing Slaughterer vs. Yorick anymore.
