Well, I've been working on it for a few months (thanks to homework and anime, heh), but Mega Man can finally return to kick Wily's butt again! Hopefully y'all will enjoy this movie as much as I do. :)
Emulator - SNES9X
Time - 00:39:55
Frames - 143700
Rerecords - 26022
Takes damage to save time
Aims for fastest time
Uses no passwords
Manipulates Luck
Abuses programming errors in the game
About programming errors:
-Bass glitch-
In all three Bass battles you can hit him immediately for the final shot even though he is still flashing invincible. None of the other bosses demonstrated this bug, though.
-Fire while charged glitch-
If there is a period of time when you can release the fire button and not lose the charge, pressing the fire button the exact frame you'd need to maintain the charge will keep the charge while firing a normal bullet as well.
-Non-recoil Noise Crush charge-
Sliding ~0-2 frames after firing you will keep up with the shot and absorb it.
-Stuck-in-wall glitch-
If you get hit at the same exact time you go through a mid-boss type door the movement from being damaged can force you into the door. (Note that in my movie I went through the door backwards to gain a little distance)
-Music glitch-
Specifically, even though Slash Man died (at Wily Stage 4) the boss music continued playing until I left the room.
About manipulation of luck:
Throughout the movie I manipulate luck when I can to make enemies drop extra lives (still rare) and bolts. I also manipulate luck to force bosses to delay as little as possible. Examples of the later include Turbo Man and the final battle against Wily.
About fastest time:
Well, perhaps it wouldn't be appropriate to include this considering I obtained the Rush Adaptor and didn't spend two months to see if not getting it was faster, but it *might* be faster. In any case, getting the Rush Adaptor makes the second group of bosses (Shade Man, Turbo Man, Slash Man, Spring Man) look a hell of a lot smoother. Those of you who saw my first version might recall that the Slash Man battle looked like shit (well compared to fighting him with the Noise Crush). Without the Rush Adaptor I would either have to fight Shade Man or Spring Man with the normal buster, both of whom spend a good amount of time too high to be hit. So, that's the trade-off.
Well, I think that covers everything...

The man with the funny eyebrows and ominous-looking skull castle is back! It seems you've really planned this one thoroughly. Execution of the plan is also top-notch. You race through the stages with blinding speed and do the boss battles very well. I didn't notice any flaws in your movements. The movie is kinda long, but the sheer speed compensates for that very efficiently. Besides you pull some awesome stunts every now and then to keep viewers intrest. I just hope there would be some way to skip the 'This is <foo> and it <bar>, doesn't it?' 'Yes, it <baz>' -sequences. This is just awesome. Very nice work. A very well earned 'yes'-vote.

While we understand the sentiment (as I believe everyone here is partial to Mega Man/Rockman), please do not vote before watching the submission.

Indeed. When you vote "yes", you are saying "I saw it and loved it!", not "I want to see it!".

I just watched it. If you ask me this is probably the worst mega man ever. How ever the run was very good. So I voted yes. I like the Ghouls and Goblins music in Shade Man's level. :)

This movie doesn't work here. I have tried three different starting positions (that is, letting the intro blaa blaa run for different lengths before loading the movie), and both 48 kHz and 32 kHz sound. It always desyncs before it even manages to kill anything. The ROM is:

I actually think this is the best game in the series since 3 (remember, X = totally different series), but that may just be my appreciation for them FINALLY shaking things up a bit. And yes, the Ghosts 'n Goblins music was sweetness indeed. Bisqwit: It played just fine for me at 32 kHz sound. Here's my rom data given by SNES9x if it helps you any: Name: MEGAMAN 7 Speed: 31/FastROM ROM Map: HiROM Type: 00 Kart contents: ROM only Header ROM Size: 16Mbits Calculated ROM Size: 16 Mbits SRAM size: 0KB (0Kbit) Actual Checksum: F199 Header Checksum: F199 Header Checksum Compliment: 0E66 Output: NTSC 60Hz CRC32: 2D947536 Licensee: Capcom ROM Version: 1.0 Region: USA/Canada -Josh

My rom (which worked fine) has these:
Mega Man 7 (U).smc CRC32: 30D835DD MD5: D1E37C26D29CF613DA48C2C558ECDFDE SHA-1: 38AC3FE3CC372F6C1833B315E0779C27AB4164FB
My Snes9x is configured to 32 kHz sound (40 ms, 16-bit stereo). Funny, Snes9x gives different CRC32:
Name: MEGAMAN 7 Speed: 31/FastROM ROM Map: HiROM Type: 00 Kart contents: ROM only Header ROM Size: 16Mbits Calculated ROM Size: 16 Mbits SRAM size: 0KB (0Kbit) Actual Checksum: F199 Header Checksum: F199 Header Checksum Compliment: 0E66 Output: NTSC 60Hz CRC32: 2D947536 Licensee: Capcom ROM Version: 1.0 Region: USA/Canada

I watched it and it is, in fact, quite good. My only curiosity is the Slash Man battles. Is there any way to prevent him from disappearing and dropping thsoe eggs? It makes the fight take twice as long, and you fight him twice, so that's like four times as long really.

I think this is why he uses Shade Man's weapon as much as he does here; the flame weapon makes him fly off like that. Maybe he just flies off on his own anyway, so it would make sense to get that extra bit of damage before he does so. *shrug* I'm curious to know this too. -Josh

Seems like my settings and the ROM match with those used by those who can play the movie without problems. I don't know what's the problem. Until I know, I can't possibly encode this movie to AVI.

As far as I could tell you can't stop him. He's designed to do it when he loses 4 health. I tried shooting him while he was jumping up and even while he was behind the "ceiling". No luck. The best I could do was reduce the number of times he did it by... -Hitting him as he fell off the wall from said attacks (that damage doesn't count towards the 4) -Standing close enough to him so that he'd want to slash me (giving me enough time to hit him with Turbo Man's weapon) As for the rom, it was renamed\confirmed by GOODSNES and my SNES9X settings\rom information are the same as Josh's and Tombad's. Hmmm... EDIT: Oh, one thing I noticed is, if I'm reading the info correctly, your ROM seems to be 512 bytes smaller than mine. Maybe that's just related to the amount of bytes used instead of the size...I wouldn't expect the checksums to be the same if they were really that different.

Very good, I voted yes because any Mega Man is always fun to watch. Do Rockman and Forte next!

Now that you mention it, I was planning on doing that. Although Megafrost is working on a Rockman and Forte run, it's with Rockman. My other brother who was working on the Forte run doesn't want to work on it any more, I guess, so I'm going to start working on that probably today.

The other brother that was doing Forte run, is his nick Kilofrost or Terafrost -_-

Oh man, that was very nice. Those Megaman games always make for good timeattacks, especially with this lightning-fast switching between abilities. Good job!

Nope. He's Chronofrost. I don't recall who called themselves Kilofrost, but Terrafrost is my best friend. Oh, and to clarify the Slash Man stuff above, by "Standing close enough to him so that he'd want to slash me" I mean that, once I've done the 4 damage (and he has jumped) I have the opportunity to make him try and slash, but afterwards he's guaranteed to do the attack.

Great run! I liked how you alternated between the weapons to show off their capabilities.

Thanks. Too bad it's not as swiss-army-knife-esqu as the MMX2 run, eh? Anyways, looking over and over and over the information it doesn't look like there's anything different about the MM7 roms, even though it sounds like that's the problem. I could PM you the download url for mine if you want...or I guess I could just let it go...
