Game objectives

  • Emulator used: Snes9X v1.51+ for Windows.
  • Objectives: Ending.

起動直後、このButtonを入力しておく事でEndingになります。

player1 : L + Right
player2 : R + Left

通常起動とEndingの判定

Kirby's Avalancheを起動直後の1Frameで判定が行われ、
4つのButtonを押していた場合はEndingに、
押していなかった場合、または必要なButton以外を押されていた場合は通常のNintendo Logoが表示されます。
Kirby's Avalancheを起動してから
1Frameで、 P1:L + Right P2:R + Left をinputします。
2Frame で movie end.  endingになります。

Nach: While this is theoretically the fastest time through the game, the movies submitted here need to go beyond normal, and entertain. Skipping immediately to the end misses the point. We want to see creative gameplay, not just skipping all gameplay. This would make a good April Fool's submission though.

About the debugging mode thing: what about the recent glitched runs of Earthbound? It uses the debug menu to skip almost the entire game.

Well, there's a difference. This one can be called up immediately through a specialized input combination. You even need to use both controllers to do it. The one in Earthbound isn't meant to be usable at all, meaning the player has to go through quite a lot of trouble (and regular input) to access it. So it's a legitimate glitch. If you can somehow access a debug mode or even warp to the closing credits using a memory manipulation method, it's fine. If it's a secret key combination then it's against the rules. (This hasn't really ever come up before, though, since I don't think movies like this one have ever been submitted before. It's not very clearly defined in the rules, I'll give you that. This is just what I think the spirit of the rules imply.)

Ah, so finagling a way to a hidden debug menu is ok, but if it's a readily available feature (like the Kontra code in old Sonic games) it's a no-go. Fair enough.

If, during start-up, you hold L+Right on player 1 and R+Left on player 2 controllers, the game goes right to winning credits. That's about all there is to it.

Here we'll have a bunch of people not knowing what they will be talking about, I better grab some popcorn. My 2 cent is: This is legit, but how 100% boring. TASing is supposed to show inhuman play, which this fails to provide. I shall vote no.

I am quite amused by this. Hooray for a new shortest submission! I agree with Dada's points:

To add to this, we have had at least two examples before of using debug features purposefully: Granted, neither of these movies actually finished the game immediately as a result of debug features, but they still benefit from deliberately using a debug feature. These movies were eventually deemed to have used cheat codes, which is different from what the Earthbound run did. EDIT: boct, Brandon's joking ;-)
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. Even if we disregard the debug rule, doesn't the "run must be faster than RTS equivalent" work here? I suppose one could boot up the console holding these buttons and achieve the same effect. (Probably). Voting no but it's definitely a hilarious movie :p

"Cheat code" implies external help. It's something that the devs left in the game, so it's more-or-less valid in that regard.

Cheat codes aren't exclusively activated though poking values into the RAM using something like a Gameshark, by the way. Like the Konami Code being one well-known example. Particularly PC games have a lot that can be accessed via simply typing things in. A TAS of Warcraft II for DOS could be a lot faster if you used the fast building cheat, for example. Those should be considered invalid too. Just like this trick.

Finally watched it. It took WAY longer than 0.03 seconds to get everything set up. It's pretty hilarious though ;-) I'm not voting.
