http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=413565#413565 And if you're using feos' script change "DS = False" (pretty sure it's that, I don't have it up on me) to true.

What to dump a video with PrBoom+ 2.5.1.4? I read usage.txt in the folder with prboom-plus, downloaded all the required encoding tools, entered -timedemo and -viddump parameters like example says. As a result, demo plays very fast and I can't find any new videofiles anywhere in my PC. What's wrong?
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

What does stdout.txt and stderr.txt say? Also, it might happen because viddump requires older versions of some programs, here's what I'm using

Here's my stdout. Seems like it doesn't say anything about outputting a video. stderr.txt doesn't exist in the folder. I've installed your tools, but it doesn't help. Maybe there is an error in the shortcut? Here is the "Target (Object)" line: C:\Users\User\Downloads\prboom-plus-2.5.1.4\prboom-plus.exe -iwad doom.wad -timedemo B1T1x786 -viddump test.mkv

Here, we use .kkapture instead of the internal capture of PrBoom+ because the melt effect is not captured at all internally.

We just resolved it, Stovent had to use an older virtualdub version. No idea what was wrong with the newest one.

In virtualdub, how do you remove a part of a movie ? I dumped too much so I wanna remove the end of the dump

For official encodes, just use the trimframe variable. But if you particularly need to export from vdub, keys Home and End set selection start and end. Then just press Delete key.

How does the trimframe variable work ? Does it indicate the frame to stop encode ? Basically it's 472969, is there a particular reason ?

You preview your script in vdub, at the moment when you want to stop the encode you copy the frame from vd and put as trimframe. It automatically discards the logo length.

In a game i'm TASing, the fastest form of movement causes the screen to blur for a few frames once every second. In Dolphin, disabling fog removes the blur and also makes the game look better by removing a few other filters. This movement technique wasn't known until recently so most of the levels in the TAS don't do it. Is it possible to request that the official TASvideos encode disables fog in the later levels for entertainment reasons? I'll make a comparison video between fog vs. no fog once I finish the level i'm working on.

Probably better to ask this when submitting, but sure if you make a compare video, we can see what you mean.

I'm looking for an avisynth script that does a TAS comparison. My comparison has 33 segments which are made up by framecounts (new and old run) at which points certain checkpoints are passed in both the old and the new run. https://pastebin.com/YMnMvqF6 - old alien hominid Dream Team Contest comparison script, credit to Aktan https://pastebin.com/edyGrSLh - My new attempt but the logic is messed up somewhere I had trouble adjusting the alien hominid script so I made a new attempt. But still doesn't work. Any help is appreciated !!!!!! Edit: Aktan helping me in irc at the moment.. Edit: Aktan is a hero

Any guides // suggestions // help to how properly encode record from real Famicom / NES composite video? I have 720x480 29.97fps interlaced video file captured by Virtual dub. So i do something like: avisource("movie.avi") AssumeTFF() SeparateFields PointResize(720, 480) Then what you think i should do next? Keep upscaling by PointResize or use some different resize algorithm? Here is result of like x16 point resize: Link to video Is this ok in your opinion?

Why 720x480? Was it an automatic setting or you just picked that resolution? Otherwise your method looks good.

Sorry to say, no the method doesn't look good. He's doing bob deinterlacing. Koh1fds: Use QTGMC to deinterlace before you upscale. What resolution are you aiming for on YouTube? Edit: When you capture, Lagarith should be set to the colorspace your capture card is using. Most capture cards, it be YUY2. If it is YUY2, you should be using AviSynth to go to YV12 before encoding. If you need help, best bet is to go on IRC where I can help you better.

Thank you for pointing that! Yep. GVUSB2 is YUY2 only. I loosing something by using wrong color space in lagarithm? Is there any examples of scripts that uses QTGMC? I aim at best possible picture not like certain resolution. I think you need at least 1440p for 1080p monitor?

Again, it be best to talk on IRC as QTGMC is a bit hard to setup, but you can just use a preset once it is setup. You are converting from YUV colorspace to RGB back to YUV which is a big no no as each conversion is not lossless. I think you misunderstood my question of resolution. Obviously biggest capture resolution is 720x480 so keep that. What I'm asking is what is your TARGET resolution ON YouTube? Honestly if it's 1440p, I would use nnedi3 to upscale, but that's my personal preference. Edit: I missed your last comment. Best resolution for 1080p monitor is 1080p =p. It's that simple. So best for 1440p monitor is 1440p.

But when you upscale emulator video by PointResize - you get sharper image when you choose resolution on youtube higher than resolution of your monitor. I think it's because that YUV colore space youtube using or something. http://i.imgur.com/Uz7DPyC.png Like here both screens made on 1080p monitor playing youtube video full screen. Obviously 4k have much less blending. So is it not that important for records from composite output? But anyway! Thank you! I will try to understand QTGMC by myself first.

What you are seeing there in your screenshot is YouTube failing to downscale to 1080p properly. A better test is to send the same clip, once in 4k, once in 1080p twice to YouTube and compare. In your composite captures, you can't see the pixels anyway, so pointresize upscale a blurry image won't magically make it less blurry. Since you seem to like the pointresize, I would compare it to nnedi3 first before deciding.

At that time I compare it against official tasvideos Super C youtube encoding that have 1080p max only and it have same blended pixels. I don't really like pointresize, but it become like a standart for hardcore emulator encodes. Also expected fail: QTGMC is too hardcore for me i guess. It requires bijillion dlls in millions archives i don't know what i even should to choose edit: nevermind! I made it to work edit2: Here is first try Link to video
