Aight, so I finally got dolphin working on KRtDL and I can finally work on some TAS's. I've been primarily focusing on doing actual speedruns of metroid fusion 100%, and getting back into full speedruns of KRtDL 100% itself (my WR sucks), so there won't be tooooo much TAS activity... But I do want to try out a test TAS (maybe just any% level 1-1) Any tips on TASing for someone new to TASing? How to export a video out of a .dat file? This game is relatively unbroken and simple, and I seriously doubt even TAS skills will introduce really interesting things, but you never know. I'll have to experiment with wing and such a bit...

Since you're using Dolphin Wii Save and load a lot when you have done 1-2 rooms check what you've done.

You mean, how to encode your run? Check the Dump Frames box under Graphics Settings>Advanced and the Dump Audio box in DSP Settings. The video and audio will be dumped separately; you'll have to combine them in another program.

If so, that would mean I'd have to play the entire video from the very start every time... or can I just do "start recording" and load the save state at the beginning of the room and it'll run fine?

When re-watching what you do is have a savestate at the start of your next session.

You'll need to save the movie when you want to check, then choose "play recording" as load the savestate. Using "start recording" wouldn't load it in read-on so it would just start recording from that savestate.

Seems legit.

You should check sync from the start often. The save states are what cause desyncs when using a wiimote. This shouldn't be a big deal at first, but as your movie gets longer this is going to start becoming impractical (you really need to check sync very often). Fortunately, you don't really need to. My experience has been that when playing back from a save state, if it doesn't desync right away, it will play back perfectly (and show any desyncs that would occur from the start). Just be careful to check from a save state well before the last part you've confirmed to sync, to give it a chance to desync if it's going to. Also, your experience may be different, so still check sync from the start often.

After some talk with Kirby Mastah, and mostly for desync problems, I decided to give up, so anyone feel free to start a TAS. :D (desync is way too often in this game, I did like one half of level and it did desynced)

:o I guess the desync mentioned above is fixed now? I'm kinda surprised bird spamming is still somewhat possible since KSSU (not that its a bad thing)

Kinda disappointing since there're already so many mistakes / optimizations he's missing out on that i do ON CONSOLE (i.e. extra slide in 1-1, or jumping up ladders is faster than dive bomb canceling) / The True Arena TAS is really good though
