Hey ! So, I was wondering, do you guys think it's possible to make a good TAS with this game ? Link to video I already started to read tasvideo.org's articles and "tutorials" to plan my future TAS, but I needed to know if it's a good game for TAS first. :) Oh, and I think nobody ever worked on that game, right ?

Judging from that video, I'm not really hopeful that it would be entertaining. Unless there is a way to speed it up (like in Lemmings)?

It doesn't seem like you could save much time over a real time player.

Well, the only way to finish a level really fast would be to use only the king, engineers ( They can "open" doors, set a new tent in specific places, create ladders, create ladders, fill water/lava/spikes holes with barrels ( ? ) to allow players walking on them, and create catapults. ). Other usefull units may be the white wizard ( Spell to make everyone on the screen invincible ) and the black wizard ( Rain of fire / lightnings on the screen. Since you can move the camera anywhere you want, you can casts those spells where you want and save some time by killing extra enemy units ). Basically, you can have 3 units + king arthur. Sadly, the snes can't handle a lot of units on screen and will slow down if there are too many units ( That's what I remember from my old snes ). If I want to save frames, I may have to move the camera up ( No flying units ) quite often, which may simply kill the entertainement. The other interesting thing is that you can, by pressing the "sword" button of a knight / king arthur, make people "invincible" ( or stronger, there are pretty much no difference when you play it normally ) for a few frames. If there is a way to make the unit invincible forever, it could be much easier to travel throught the levels. I have already made some tests in this first level, and you can basically win this one by pressing only left at the first "playable" frame. Here's a longer video that can show you how the "real game" works. Link to video http://www.vgmaps.com/Atlas/SuperNES/KingArthur%27sWorld-RealWorld1-BattleForHighCastle.png ( Level map ) It could be interesting to find a optimised path here. :) I now have to find how the game reacts to unusual button-combinations ( left + right, etc. ), to have a look at the RAM while playing the game ( and find some usefull infos ), and to try some tests frame by frame with the camera. Oh, and try the "invincible forever" technique. The game also works with the SNES mousepad, so I don't know how it may work with a speedrun. EDIT : It appears that you were right : the game isn't very entertaining to watch and there isn't much improvement I can do to play it quicker than a regular speedrun. ( Using other units takes time. ) I also don't have a lot of time for TASing, and it's as long as I thought, so I'm done.² Oh, I'll stay on the forum to comment and read. ;)
