Today I started adding an "aspect=4/3" setting to the libavcodec settings in mencoder commandline.
The MPlayer manual tells this:
aspect=<x/y> Store movie aspect internally, just like MPEG
files. Much nicer solution than rescaling, be-
cause quality isn't decreased. Only MPlayer
will play these files correctly, other players
will display them with wrong aspect. The aspect
parameter can be given as a ratio or a floating
point number. Example:
aspect=16/9, aspect=1.78
This has now the effect that the movies, when played fullscreen, are really played fullscreen instead of having black bars on the edges.
I guess it works only with MPlayer, as the documentation suggests.
If it works on your system, please tell me.
The Jackie Chan, Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 2, Rush'n Attack and Hinotori movies are encoded using this settings.
