Congratulations on your first submission, for such a huge game no less. Trial and erroring all the fights seems incredibly daunting, but the honey shower strategy was incredibly unique and OP and cool to watch.
Just one question: Wouldn't it be possible to "swap out" a low-damage shower for a different attack which could do more damage? Or am I misunderstanding how RNG works? I don't think it would make a huge impact on turn count over the course of the run anyway.
Either way, this was a very enjoyable and exciting run to watch. Great work, and Yes vote for sure.
They would’ve lowered the chances. There are plenty of places where we do combine Honey Showers are other attacks, but for the ones using them exclusively, it was better and easier to get 2 to be manipulated at the same time. Doing other actions could result in further RNG manipulation to get good results with those.
I’m sure you can optimize it further or use new strats, but the next project would need to use bots/scripts to figure it out, as trying to do it manually would make you want to pull your hair out of your head.

This is the debut submission of Mother 3 on TASVideos, improving on sprocket2006’s previous effort by 15 minutes and surpassing the current RTA glitchless record by 50 minutes using previously unthought of strategies, optimizations, and manipulation. The RTA time of this run is 4:56:27

RNG Manipulation / Select Cancels Because of Mother 3’s usage of dynamic memory, RAM Watch can’t really be used to any benefit. Combat RNG isn’t determined by frames, but rather rolled when you select the enemy or action. You can select the target and then wait for however long and the RNG won’t change. We manipulate RNG in this game through repeated selection and cancellation of a certain action or enemy, which allows the RNG to change. This can be repeated until you get the desired RNG, a tactic we refer to as ‘select cancelling’.
Did you use any scripts to display information at least? Did you just trailed and errored every fight?
1. There is the “newgame+ glitch” which allows to carry over stats from an existing profile to a brand new profile. That will be the next endeavor most likely.
2. RTA times the run from selecting “New Game” to pressing “Yes” on to pull the final needle. The RTA world record is 5:47:27
3. We just trialed and errored every fight checking each select cancel manually and playing out each turn, and retrying so. The rerecords would be significantly less if we had tools to show any display information or values. Everything was done with an input editor and checked in-game

Nobody uses them anymore at all. Only thing people use for torrents is for pirating music, TV, anime, etc.
Pretty much everybody has a broadband internet connection that can display youtube just fine. And you can use the direct download link anyway on archive.org, I’ve done that for mobile viewing when I wanted to save data. Torrents are essentially useless and should be taken off the sitr.

A handful of people, including Stovent and CasualPokePlayer from staff, have been unbanned by Discord after appeals, so it does at least look like Discord is working towards unbanning people that had nothing to do with the JPN TAS server's illegal content. However, some appeals have been rejected or have not gone through, so it's still far from over.
It may take up to 2-3 weeks to resolve this fully if they do at all, some accounts will probably get left in the dark. It’s unfortunate.
