Thanks so much for accepting this TAS. I know there were a lot of factors at play when it came to comparing modes as well as the difference in emulators.

Thanks. I didn't do the exact math but I believe Bizhawk loads are quite a bit slower as a whole, between stages and loading in boss fights. Although I saved a large amount of time with the damage boosts and version differences I doubt it would outweigh the time lost to the timer countdown. Fun fact this started as a NA Arranged Mode TAS and I finished until end of block 2 with the forced cross drop, changed to NA Original Mode and finished until the end of block 2, then finally made the swap to JP after learning of the version differences. I would be keen to know the difference when loads were taken into account but as someone new to this whole process and disc based emulation in general my focus was just on making the movie.

Thanks Sir VG. This run definitely would not exist without yours as inspiration. It was a constant point of reference. Especially at the start where I was just learning to use TAStudio.

I appreciate all the kind words! Honestly I dive 110% into things when I get going. The old bizhawk version was simply just what I had on my PC tbh but I will update to current for future projects. I learned the program and made this TAS in ~10 days (some of those being 8+ hours though) That said I'll certainly take note of the stage 1 saves and may come back to it in future if resyncing doesn't deter me. That may end up being a project over a longer period though. I AM excited to tackle my next project, whatever that may be. Also big shout out to the folks that pushed me to submit because I just did this for my own fun & want to learn.

Strizer86, is your YouTube picture showing Quarble from the Messenger with a beer? That is amazing.
Haha very close. It is indeed Quarble with a stein but it's filled with time shards along with a little one falling out of the mug.

Out of curiosity, is that weird Stage 5 warp glitch (that takes you to Stage 6) reasonable to pull off unassisted?
Unsure at this time but I would like to check it out for myself in future. Could be fun to run 100% RTA now that I've put so much time into getting to know the game.

Much appreciated. Each stage with the exception of 5 has a collectible item that mirrors the future Belmont's sub weapons. Axe in stage 1 for example, Cross in the hidden stage 6, etc. Finding all 5 of these grants you a special ending/credits sequence. Normally after the first small bit of text with Sonia on the cliff the screen goes black and the credits show up in white text. With all items collected you get additional info, the credits play with her standing on the cliff, & you get the end scene with her holding the baby.

Definitely! I have a YouTube video uploaded I will embed into the submission. (Just ignore the fact in said video I truncated it to 22:22.5 in the info on the right...)

I figured there was like a site wide blanket rule on that so I appreciate all the help from everyone.

OK cool. I was doing the math via frames for fun/posting the video. So in this case I'd look to include the final start press, truncate there as credits would roll normally after, & that would be my total. I think I got this. Much appreciated.

Haha sorry to disrupt your creativity. Indeed, I noticed the published run also did this. My question is surrounding what the run time itself would be as a result. My gut says "time" is on the final attack and that should be what I base my math on & the extra input to advance the credits was a courtesy but I've gotten conflicting answers via the Discord. I wasn't sure if there was a clearly defined spot to check under the game itself, or to verify via the old TAS by SirVG. It's only a difference of about a second and half, but I just want to make sure I am accurate and know for future.

Howdy all. New here and I'm looking for an answer regarding timing of a game. I feel like I've been around the loop of all the newcomer docs a few times but am not finding my answer. I'm likely just getting lost in what feels like a sea of text. I decided to learn to TAS and made a Castlevania Legends 100% TAS over the last few weeks. I shared it in the speedruns discord as I'm part of the community and was advised I should look to submit as it's almost 2 minutes faster than the current published TAS. I've been advised timing would start on Power On but I've questioning when it would end. After the final attack there is a single text box to dismiss with a start press that leads to the rest of the end/credits. I wanted to include the input for submission based on what I saw in the guidelines but am not clear if that start press is the conclusion of time or it would be the final attack and the start press would simply be a courtesy to include in the movie. Sorry I'm sure this question comes up often. Thanks in advance.
