well, you just get a different stream of data bits on the output pin. The nes sends a scan pulse to the controller to check the state of each button. so you would get something like 00001001 instead of 00001000 (basically) You cant trick TAS my synth :/ ..and that video is just one example of how the NES controller could interact with my digital logic synth. It's basically only gating the sound. So when a button state sends an active pulse to the synth you can hear it during the pulse duration, which is why it's so stuttery. Thanks for checking it out.

So, besides TAS, my other big hobbie is building my own analog/digital synths and noise makers. Im currently researching the nintendo entertainment system's controller pad for use with in my digital logic synth. I think you guys might be able to appreciate it. heres a link to a youtube demonstration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Lv_TvLtkJ4&feature=player_embedded and if your interested, heres my thread on the electromusic forum detailing the more technical aspects. http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-44303.html thanks for checking it out ya'll

I really liked the concept of the run, it felt alot like a play-a-round glitchfest, which usually are my favorite TASruns. The idea behind it was charming, but in the back of my mind waiting for the clock to tick down was a tad vexing. I smiled here and there and laughed a bit, but i agree with most of the above comments leaning towards the meh side or no side. (Nice art though, 8-1 was my fav)
