Good times Fabian!
But anyway, this is the best TAS I've seen. Very entertaining and a lot of surprising moments. I didn't mind the level skipping glitches. I honestly enjoyed it because i've seen/played the mario levels so many f*&^%# times and watching mario get to say "screw the rest of this level, ima just finish right here" was pretty awesome.
Side Note: Did you save any time on the bowser fight? I noticed you didn't hit him right away with both koopas. I had to watch a couple times to see what you did but couldn't tell if it saved time or you just did it to make the bowser fight seem new.
Great run!
P.S. I'm glad I stopped TASing smw when I did because all that corner clipping and block duplication would have driven me crazy! Extra props for the patience and dedication you guys put into finishing this run!
P.P.S. YES Vote!

I made a demo of VD1 a few years ago where I duplicated the block up through the ceiling to make a hole then key jumped across and eventually under a wall without going through the pipe. I cannot seem to find the file though (must've been on my old computer)
Thanks a bunch for all of the positive feedback everybody!

I actually got the small run up to CI3b(only about 20 levels are left).
http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/837410913/small%20ci3a.smv
It's over a minute faster already and there should be some improvements still, especially ci3b. i just lost motivation. If anyone wants me to finish, or wants to help me finish, or wants to finish it on their own. Please let me know!
EDIT: Does anyone know if small mario can get pushed through a ceiling using two keys?

I found this to not be a very suitable game for TASing due to all of the autoscrollers. The WIPs I made a long time ago were faster than mushroom's run and I was only halfway through the first level. I was going for 100% which I think is the best choice for a TAS of this game. I did a lot of character switching and "played with death" in the autoscrollers to try to be entertaining.
Also sorry but i don't think i have my old WIPs because they were on a really old computer.
If you post WIPs I can give you feedback if you want.

Great run Mister! The big boo and bowser fights were awesome and I loved the input animation.
Unfortunately for me I couldn't be a huge part of this run because I always either tied or was slower than your times ;) However, I'm very proud of my 2 frame saver in the beginning of dp1b \o/
Good job and I can't wait to see any other projects you do in the future!

There was a teacher at my school this year with the same name as me. I got his emails all year and pictures of him were labeled with my name in the index of the yearbook.

I really enjoyed this run. It had some awesome tricks and very fast gameplay. This is a pretty nice hack, better than most. The run became a little less interesting once the cape was acquired but i still liked the run a lot. Thanks for making it Chefstef!
Oh and thanks Aqwertyz for the AVI, I wouldn't have been able to watch it otherwise.

That TAS was amazing! I loved all of the tricks done during the downtime. All of the walljumps were awesome.
Do you know if that rope trick to grab on to the background can be done in SMW or just in hacks? I tried it in CBA last year when DK64MASTER did it in second reality project and I couldn't get it. Either way it doesn't matter because it's not possible small. There aren't any blocks in CBA that the ropes go into and small mario can't get hit.
Good job.

360 is the best you can do on yi2 unless you do the hop glitch, which is very difficult and unlikely. I've only gotten it like 5 or so times and I've played this game for years. If you want to try for a 361, then at the very last pipe before the end, jump up onto the yellow blocks. Midway in the jump to the yellow blocks let go of forward and jump the exact frame you land on the yellow blocks. Then jump the exact frame you hit the ground and if you get super lucky you can get a 361.
I'd focus on perfecting the other levels before trying this trick, but if you want you can.

I play drums for my school's percussion ensemble and jazz band and I'm in a band with friends. I also played drums in marching band.
I like to dabble in bass and keyboard as well.
Here's a link to my super awesome band's music page :D www.myspace.com/therest1234

Oh my god DK, my brother got that for christmas this year, it's amazing. We made one of the recipes in the manual thing: Putting a pie filling(we used strawberry) in between bread then grill it and put powdered sugar on top. It was awesome
I guess one of my favorite sandwiches is a monte cristo which is like a fried/sugary turkey sandwich. Instant death but delicious.

Jimsfriend's post reminded me of a sandwich I made like 3 years ago. Turkey, peanut butter, honey and banana on sandwich bread = yum.
I actually made a really awesome chicken salad sandwich today: chicken, onions, monterey jack cheese, apples, walnuts, mayo on a toasted bagel.

I agree with Baxter
People are voting based on how great of an accomplishment the movie is, not how great of a TAS the movie is. For this I voted for the Super Metroid run but it is actually a great TAS, not just some new milestone that surprised people.
Also I'm disappointed the Super Mario World Small Only run isn't here but there's always 2008 :P

Well, that wouldn't do anything because you run the same on land regardless of if you are holding an item or not. I'm still not 100% positive why it works though so you never know.
EDIT: I was wrong before. 1/-1 also works with swimming without an item. I was mislead before because the screen does not scroll forward on the back inputs, so it seems like the object I was comparing to appeared much later, although mario actually gets to it faster.
So yeah, great improvement Mister! Although it isn't the most beautiful trick it will save a lot of time in the TASes.

I was happy to hear something new was discovered but I tested this out and it is unfortunately a lot slower.
I compared from the beginning of ds1 to the first floating block and 1/-1 was 18 frames slower. Although Mister was right about the numbers technically being higher, half of the motion is in the opposite direction so it turns out a lot slower.
I tested other oscillations and found that you can let go of right on certain frames and retain the same speed but it is harder so there is no point. All other patterns are at least 1 frame slower.
EDIT: I just tested this with an item and it turned out to be 1 frame faster in the little section I tested it in. So thank you Mister, this is a valid improvement. It might save a good amount of frames in levels with an item early on, such as SW2.
I'm not sure why this is faster with an tem but so much slower without an item.

Found this just now. A simple game, but I like it.

I've gotten 180m as best so far. Having played Tony Hawk would PROBABLY help, but I haven't.
