I wonder why you went for the tape release (with the slowest loading, no really, about half the duration of the TAS is seizure-inducing loading as it is) instead of a disk release. I assume it's because you didn't want to deal with a cracked disk image, even though there's an exception for them in the rules (for C64 games and I presume also ZX Spectrum games).
Normally we have run into issues every time for obtaining a disk image. So, I guess we have naturally started to avoid them.

Man, when I was younger...I couldn't play this game past a certain point. I think I see why now. Some of these levels have check points that cause openings. I thought at first, you were backtracking for no reason, but I see it was necessary. Good job. I don't see anything glaring out that needs optimizing. Yes vote

I'm responding here to make our discord discussion official. Yes, I'd like to keep the inputs as they were submitted.

Yeah, me too. This is why we originally asked you about this scenario. DrD2k9 and myself mulled over this a bit until we realized that it does beat the game, but the post inputs are just required to get the game back to the beginning again. Commodore sure had some strange programming back then.

Juarez...just a thought, but the low voting on your TAS could be the lack of a "Temp Encode" If you had something for us to view, it would make it a lot easier to comment and vote. If this is anything like the TAS that jmos put out a few months ago, then it should be pretty good. Abstaining from voting...until a temp code can be provided.

Dang DrD2k9...shooting those ducks in the grass doesn't seem to be fair. Did you ever consider the little ducklings that were left behind after you killed the parents? Yes vote for clearly making it fast as possible. This means, cutting the "Perfect" bonus in the stages that didn't require 10 out of 10 and affecting RNG in order to bring up the ducks as fast as possible.

Very interesting game. As you are already aware, Commodore had a massive amount of games...more than I can even be aware of. Looks great. Yes Vote.

I have worked with DrD2k9 before and I know the effort he puts behind his work. Aside from the places where the main character gets halted (apparently a limitation of the game), it seems to be optimized. The Commodore Vic-20 and 64 were my childhood...almost all the games bring back the memories I had back then. So...Yes to entertainment...Yes to optimization.

Wow...finally after all this time, MR gets some attention across so many consoles. Way to go on completing this version! I'm surprised at the Atari 2600 game, it truly shows more difficulty as the game goes on. For Colecovision, it seemed to be barely noticeable from level to level. Well, 3 levels...I can imagine that they had to do something to make it clearly more challenging as it went on. I'm also jealous that you were able to find more deaths than myself and DrD2K9. One of the problems that we had, is that it took a very long time for the death cut scene to complete. Yours seems to be much faster and certainly worth the effort. Aside from the findings of Spikestuff, I think you did a really good job on optimization. As feos put it, the game has limitations and any lack of movement is clearly understandable...due to waiting for disappearing objects. Great job! Welcome aboard, and Yes vote!

Interesting, I never knew there was a version for the Atari 2600. I see some glitchy moves going on here. :) Some places appear to be unoptimized, but after thinking about it...these rooms have static patterns that start the frame you enter. I take it RNG doesn't exist in this? Yes vote anyway.

After a lengthy discuss with Aran;Jaeger (EternisedDragon), I decided to create a thread for something that has confused me for a while. The question is: How do you rate the technical quality of a publication? There are many different points to bring up and ED has commented on a number of good ideas. Since I don't see any guidelines...what do you think the rules of rating should be? As for Entertainment, that pretty much goes as a personal preference, but for technical ability, I would like to rate movies with a common ground of understanding. So far, my understanding is the level of effort it took to produce...but in fact, it could be that I don't see any frames to be found (meaning a 10). So...should guidelines be created? let's discuss this and see what comes of it.

Thanks feos. The thing that DrD2K9 and I discovered, is that there is a global timer that runs the disappearing chains and floors. Because of that, the inputs are needing a shift of a certain amount of frames; however, that is still not enough...since there is input lag and sometimes a critical input fall within the lag frames that occur ever 5 (or is it 6) frames. So, entering Level 9 (on a different frame) for the second time would also have to be adjusted in order for the shift to work.

You are right dan. Even though sniq did an amazing job, I would like to add that the collaboration between the three of you (sniq, EternisedDragon/Aran Jaeger, and yourself), for routing, was also amazing. After seeing some of the early stuff about 18 months ago...I could tell that it was going to pay off in a big way. Now that it is complete, the time cut certainly shows how much effort and knowledge went into this. Great job guys.
