And how do I start recording from that point? Still says no movie. What about this inbuildt AVI-recorder that someone told me there is, in a question for me without telling me how to use it.

Says nothing about that in the tutorial. Its written like the recording start automatically. If you start recording, that will create a new .vbm, file. How do I put these together later, I know I have to record with fraps for example and also should i record from now(snapshot) or from restart
Why would you assume it would immediately record your input as soon as you start the game? Also, why use fraps if there's an AVI recording feature that can run alongside of movie playback?
Why does it feel like you are answering my questions with questions? I had no idea that there was an inbuild AVI recording feauture Anyways thanks everyone, Ill try that!

I've followed the tutorial and read another thread where someone wrote: "all you have to do is make a savestate where you leave off. Then when you wake up in the morning and open up VBA and the game, just press Shift+8 (or whatever combination you set), load your savestate, and resume working." I've done this - but it does not start recording when this happens it says (no movie). Is the only option to "record from now(snapshot)"? I dont see how I should start the actual recording from there. I can keep playing but it doesnt record anything!

You were hitting + not \ (which is also known as backslash) Shift+8 changes from Read only and Write mode.
It doesnt show if Read only/Write mode is on or off when I press it Shift +8 thats really lame. How should I know if its on/off.

Hello, Im playing with a xbox 360 controller and trying to make a speedrun of Metroid Zero Mission, but its really hard to hold my controller with one hand and press the keyboard(frame advance) with my other, it would be nice if I could bind frame advance to a button on my controller instead, is this possible? The other question is that when I hold the frame advance button down(when Im running on safe ground etc) it goes a bit slow sometimes, can I boost this somehow? Without using the mouse or keyboard, would be nice If I could keep to just my controller.

it's set to \ on your keyboard (above enter)
The only thing that happens when I press that button is that the speed goes up, say if I have 100% it goes to 115%. Throttle speed it says. I have a swedish keyboard though with letters like ÅÄÖ. I did find something called Frame Search on the letter Å. Im not sure I understand all this with Frame advance Also I read the link that the admin posted, I record vbm now and from startup/bootup. I look in my input settings and Resume/Exit Recording is set to S and I can stop the recording but i cant resume it from that point using the S-button. Edit: I found the Frame Advance button. It is set to Ctrl+N, im gonna see if I can change it to a single button now. Still I have problems with the Resume-recording part.

Is it just me, or does it feel slightly faster in speed when you play the video you recorded in 50% speed, probably just feels like it because I played in slow motion lol.
It is just you. And when doing input, you should be using frame advance, not 50% speed (that's very fast). Back in the old bad days, Famtasia didn't support frame advace, only slowdown to IIRC 3%. The results were pretty bad...
Im just pressing minus to 50%, how do I use frame advance? Dont know what it is

Basically, record to .vbm (movie recording) first, then play the .vbm back with avi capture to get an .avi
Yeah, that worked! Say I want to run the whole game and then upload it to youtube, can I convert the .vbm file somehow? If I play some part today and want to continue tomorrow, can I fix so it doesn't look like I turned of the video/have to cut it etc. Is it just me, or does it feel slightly faster in speed when you play the video you recorded in 50% speed, probably just feels like it because I played in slow motion lol.

Record a movie (using save/loadstate while recording), then play the movie back from beginning in one go, dumping video. This way there are no loadstates during playback that is captured to video.
Im not sure what you mean, could you specify?

Hello, Doing a TAS of Metroid Zero Mission using VBA. I've downloaded the latest version from here. I've binded save- and load states, and know how to record and change the emulator speed etc. But my problem is, when I watch the video afterwards(.avi) it shows everytime I've loaded a save state(if I did a mistake etc) and I dont want that. Is there a setting to fix this? I thought "Associate with save state" option would fix it, been trying to find out how to solve it but I can't. So Im asking you Thanks Maul91
