Heres two pics on self timer when I was posing in front of some pics showing the results of the video projector I built from an LCD flat panel. Don't have any more pics right now. :( First one is before installing a pulldown screen (its just paper taped to a wall so the seams are visible): http://img58.imageshack.us/my.php?image=proj20102ut.jpg Second one has a screen and a far better camera. My eyes were really bloodshot in that pic! Gross :P http://img97.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img03052aq.jpg It is really crazy playing NES and Genesis games with a 10-foot diagonal screen! -- Years back I grew my hair out long like some of you guys here (after I finished with the military), though now I look a lot younger with short hair. I'm almost 30! :)

I guess next up would be the N64 Adaptoids. Haven't gotten those yet so I can reuse my old N64 pads since they are still my last functional game controllers that haven't broken yet. :) Will be running out of USB slots before long!

I just read up on the Wii today, looks very neat. No doubt there will be some conversion going on with those. Additionally I picked up 2 of the Saturn remakes, the model 2 controllers that were closely related to the 6-button Genesis pads. They were a bit pricey at $30-40 each, but already USB and made from Sega and not a 3rd party. I liked the Four Score adapter since it had some good feedback and it will just take standard classic NES pads in case some of them break down.

Not sure if it has been posted, but I picked up one of the USB FourScore conversions from http://www.retrousb.com/ and an old set of original NES controllers for FCEU etc. because I *really* dislike the old painful D-pad on the PS2 controllers I have been previously using. (Not that the original NES controller was without pain after long gaming stints!) ;) What stuff do you guys prefer to use for controllers when you use them? :)

Oh thanks for the heads up or I might not have seen it! I think the highest I ever got during normal play was 116 or 117, and that took quite a while. lol

Wow, just WOW. I used to play the hell out of this game when I first got my N64 a few days after it was released, and this TAS just blew me away. I had a huge grin on my face while watching this and was completely dumbfounded seeing some of the stunts pulled off in this run. This run is probably my #1 on this site because it is so unbelievable and entertaining. :)

Yea you are probably right, but was just thinking that if the rounds could be manipulated for maximum damage for the player, and minimal or no damage for the enemies.. :) Some people said you could finish the game in the high teens or something which was interesting. Edit: This thread is making me want to go play some Phantasy Star 2 goodness. It's been so many years. :)

Yea sorry to resurrect such an old topic, lol. But this one I was really interested in and was disappointed that some sort of PS2 run wasn't finished yet. I wonder if it would be possible to make a ROLF only run be the fastest one, with luck manip. involved? Anyways I ran across this posted in a forum so it might be useful for someone that attempts a PS2 run. Here is a list of the XP that the guy had for levelling up ROLF.

Here is a useful list for PS2 of all the monsters with HP/EXP/MES: http://www.monmouth.com/~colonel/videogames/phantasystar2/monsters.html Has anyone figured out how to manipulate luck in this game? It would be pretty slick to see somebody finish the game with just ROLF (and NEI for a while) by not visiting his house ever, if it is possible to manipulate the game in such a way. :)

After some much needed Googling, I found it. It was "Video Power." I remember watching this show a bit back in the day, here's a few links if you never saw it back in its glory days. :) http://www.progressiveboink.com/archive/videopower.html http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/babbage/317/world/videopower2.html (There was a different first season that had cartoon characters like Kuros, Kwiki, and some guy from Arch Rivals (lol) that was quite different than the second (more popular) season. http://www.fortunecity.com/skyscraper/babbage/317/world/videopower1.html Holy popups on some of these pages, don't blame me... :) Saving some of the best for last, read the guy's comment as he was a contestant on said show. :) http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0165600/

I keep seeing Toki listed as very hard, I'm going to have to try it. I have never played it before (!) but I will take everyones word on it as being hard, just have to see for myself how bad it is... :) On another note, does anyone remember that video game show that had the guy (I think) named "Johnny Arcade", where they would have a few people I believe answer some trivia questions, and then play short game segments for scores, and then after someone would win, would run through isles and grab video games on a spree, etc. I don't totally remember the specifics but with some research I could probably find the details on it a bit better. I think they also had to ask this Johnny guy some video game questions (that were totally rigged of course) and try to stump him. :) I remember seeing that show and them having Toki as one of the games and everyone sucked so badly at it... :) I think the poor saps had to play some Battletoads and Toki in the same game, but can't be too sure. :) Throw in some Deadly Towers and Ghosts & Goblins and you are set!

I remember beating PS3 but it took some dedication. I didn't think I would be able to pull it off, and from what I remember I was pretty shocked when I finished it. I recall taking it over to my friends house to show him the end area and finished it then. :) Battletoads is a damn nightmare. I hate the jetski and hovercraft style levels, its so damn frustrating even if you know the patterns.

I gave BlockOut a try last night and WOW are those controls horrible. They are pretty cocked up thats for sure, I didn't remember them being that bad, but it was true. Its very difficult to control the pieces and flip things even with slow speeds and frame advance. The movements are not really registered in a very consistent manner. I'd really appreciate someone attempting a little bit of clearing on the "!" level (10) and see what you can do. :) Maybe I'm not doing it right... Additionally, each piece was always the same order from the savestate, even with pausing or timing drops and movements differently, so I think the randomness of the pieces at least for some set number of them is very static between runs. Kind of like Dr. Mario is...

Will do if I manage to get anywhere with it. Hopefully the piece order is not very static and can be finagled a bit to get a better order. It would be mind-bending to say the least, especially with the largest well size. I doubt that any normal amount of play on high difficulty has ever produced the 3D equivalent of a "tetris" clearing maneuver. :)

I'm almost half tempted to run a Game Genie invincibility run through and test level-ups near the end of the game to see how feasible a low-level run is, or a "preferred minimum" for still being able to damage near-endgame bosses... Any low-level run in this game would nearly have to be a no-hit run as well! My major complaint is just that most movements how ever many times you redo them, even frame by frame, almost never wants to be pixel perfect; that and for some reason the menus and dialogs are extremely laggy trying to register button presses in frame step modes... Not sure if I am doing them wrong or not...

I was able to hit the purple gargoyle type boss at level 1 or 2, but it was very slow, you took about a sliver away per hit, and I was able to get 3 hits per lightning attack, but it still took a bit of time. This was without the ring. The boss fights do take less time than leveling though. I will play around a bit more and see what is possible, but its quite time consuming since the movement is very fast and twitchy in that game on Genesis. It wouldn't be pixel-perfect thing by any means, that would easily take over 150,000 re-records maybe even more. Would take months to pull off if you spent hours per day IMO. :(

Even better than Klax would be a disgusting, luck-manipulated, hyperspeed run of Blockout on the hardest difficulty; the most screwed up 3D pieces you could ever imagine. The luck manipulation factor alone would be horrendous to get pieces that would even remotely fit together on that difficulty level, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but it would be funny to watch. No human brain can contemplate 3D manipulation like that game required on those levels... Even if your IQ was like 300. :) -- On second thought, I may give it a try today and see how the piece randomness can be manipulated. The controls for flipping those pieces on Blockout is extremely twisted. It always tied my brainstem into knots.

I think the best game controller was the Genesis 6-button controller. The D-Pad on that one was a lot more comfortable/fluid than any controller I have ever used...ever.

I started to take a shot at the Genesis version of this for a few hours last night, since it was pretty much my all time favorite game. :) I didn't make it far, just past the first 2 bosses at level 1 or 2 with just the Long Sword. It wasn't too bad it only took a couple of minutes, but will need to be redone because some of the work was quick and sloppy. The only problem I forsee is not being able to damage things very well at extremely low levels, but I wanted to avoid leveling up if at all possible for speed. The boss fights get a little drawn out since you really just shave away at their HP, though I think using the Power Ring on and off in really rapid succession before the hits may help a bit. Any suggestions, or is levelling up acceptable if all attacks are nearly perfect, with no missed swings or getting hit at all? Its been MANY years since I finished this game on the original Genesis, so I don't know if there is anything that really needs some major planning... I don't want to put a lot of hours in and find out at some point that something cannot be defeated without X amount of levels, for example. :( I think it would be an entertaining run, going through and not getting hit, etc. considering the well placed jumps and attacks are fairly mindblowing to watch in real time.
