This doesn't feel optimized to me. There are a lot of parts where you wait or backstep to avoid enemies. I wonder if there's a better way to manipulate them or avoid them.
You're welcome to try. Also, the frame count is still messed up.

I'm not sure if anyone would do it, but I'd be interested in seeing a similar comparison of the (J) vs (U) for a 120 star run.

Nice TAS! Still slightly boring, and it doesn't deserve a Moon, so Meh vote. Definitely publish to Vault though! By the way, I think you used bold instead of strikethrough for part of your submission text. And what are all those things Dr. Frankenstein has to run through when he touches the green platform to reach Frankenstein? Bats?
Thanks, fixed. Also, I think those things are bats, since it fits into the halloween theme.

The recent monopoly discussion reminded me of this TAS I made six years ago. There are faster runs that abuse trading and other stuff, but this one is funny because the CPU goes bankrupt one minute after end of input. The CPU even buys houses and hotels!
I think you should uncancel it so it can at least be in the vault. :)

I remember this submission. It's nice, but unfortunately it does not satisfy the requirements of Vault. It's not a game, and it doesn't reach the end as fast as possible.
Reaching the end as fast as possible would unfortunately kill off the novelty (is this the right word to use?) of this run.

Oh, lookie there, another Atari game that has an end. Before I go to bed, I'm going to upload a temp encode, because I like you guys alot. Now don't take that too seriously. Edit: Btw, what's with the messed up frame count? On BizHawk, it says 10318. But here it says 10324. 0_o

I want to be honest and I hope I don't come across as a greedy bastard with this, but the reason why I held off with submitting this run is because I am interested in the ad revenue that I can make from my uploaded videos (which I put much effort into, after all). And submitting a TAS means that basicly everyone can reupload the TAS on their channel if they wanted, essentially taking away viewers and possibly leaving my video in the shade while the video by one of the encoders may become much more popular.
How much money do you make per certain amount of views anyway? I thought you make very little, or is it different now?

Doesn't the game increase in difficulty after the first level?
I believe the game loops endlessly, so even if it increases in difficulty, unless there's a kill screen, then there's no real ending.

Whilst I fully agree with the idea behind the vault; 'every game has a place here for a TAS of it'... You do realize you seem to be having a serious discussion about Desert Bus right? No one here wants to to take a step back and just think about that for a second?
Hey, Desert Bus is the best game ever. You know games like Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda, etc? Well, those games are shit compare to Desert Bus. ;)

I love how the image in the encode has nothing to do with this crappy game.

While the 14% categories are technically obsoleted by the glitched 6% run, they still showcase some interesting strategies. I'd vote Yes for both of them to be published to the Vault.
I thought the vault was for "Fastest times". There's a faster run already, so what's the point in this run? Edit: I also find this run not entertaining enough for the moon catagory.

But the timing mechanism does, and in this game, it's not that much different from score.
That means this run would be of fixed length with no way to improve it.

I'd be in favor of a max score publication. Why bother going beyond that?
That'll still be a 495 hour run, making it the most boring longest run in the site.

Hi. I've stumbled upon this video, and vaguely remembered hearing this music before. I'm not exactly certain if it was from a game, but if so, can anyone please tell me what game was it?
Hi jlun2! The game you are looking for is called Mega Man Network Transmission. Why the heck am I talking to myself?

Why not publish it? Desert Bus is somewhat popular. This should help draw people to the site. Yes vote for publication (I suppose the judge decides where it goes). The only question is how anyone would ever encode this, especially in an acceptable quality and fitting within video site time and file size limits.
Why 1000 hours? Infact, shouldn't the run end as soon as you get max score of 99?

Please replace the run with this: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/2270152456726957 I have evidence that this is faster, despite the longer frame count due to triggering the "Begin Chapter" 10 VI's faster by not letting the camera move infront of spiderman. PM for the synced version of this run to compare it with the above wip. Edit: Since I can't get the debug mode trick to work, I did this without it. Edit 2: I messed up; the input would desync. rog, can you please edit the current input file so that the camera doesn't turn on the roof top before the 3rd chapter message?

so we have the Vault And I would like to put in some kind of clause that suggests a minimum amount of "TAS skill" if the wording can be clear enough (I want to minimize subjectiveness for this tier). So should there be a minimum clause? And should we draw the line below or above this submission? Discuss!
But if there's a minimum amount of TAS skills needed, wouldn't that mean alot of atari runs be rejected? Since TASing most atari games is very simple.

Unrejected, huh? I'll see if it syncs in the lastest dolphin revision and try to improve it.

I definitely am looking for some discussion here. Even for a the Vault tier, where game choice is not an issue. Is this still something that should be published? If not, why? What about the requirements could be changed to clearly draw a line between then and "more worthy" game choices? I hope to flesh out some clarification based on the discussion ehre.
How many levels are there? Does this game ever end?

So this has been unrejected and considered for the Vault tier. I find this game to be a good fringe case for the vault requirements. Primarily the "must be clearly a game". What I mean is, how official should these games be? This is a pretty amateur job, with no QA thus easily exploited. Usually when we think of games we think of official commercial games?
If this gets accepted, please replace it with this WIP, that completes Syobon Action in 1.4 seconds.

Wow, nice to know that the community that I've felt a part of for 6+ years labels me as not to be taken seriously. I was under the impression that people are allowed to have their own opinions, and most importantly preferences about what they find entertaining, but I guess that's not the case. Go on and make whatever arguments you want and slander me and take what I've said out of context and try and make me look bad, but I'm not the one who first blew it out of proportion. It's just sad that what drew me to this site is a host of intelligent people trying to make entertaining movies that pushed the boundaries, and after spending years trying to contribute to that effort I'm now being attacked for sharing an opinion about console preference.
You shouldn't really take everything written on the internet too seriously. Since some people like to piss off others because.....I don't know? Maybe because they are sadistic can? :/

Well, for me neither of RPGs is interesting at all, but that's just me. Also, you linked only one "Glitched" run. If all Glitched runs go to Demo, I see no problem in their main branches going to Vault.
All the runs listed uses game breaking glitches to drastically shorten a long game into 5 - 10 minutes or so. Anyway, why can't they go to the vault? Even though you think it's entertaining (no comment), this isn't FeosVidoes. Where I got the above idea:
A gamebreaking run CAN NOT go to vault because it is still awesome, a moon-worthy for me.
