That is a pretty nice method. I think that would pretty much obsolete R/B. And you don't need to damage the Nidoking to catch it, I just tested.

It's identical because he took primo's run, stopped it at a certain point, and started playing from there.

Speaking of sprint shoes and unequipping, I'm pretty sure even if you managed to glitch a pair onto Kutan, they'll be de-equipped at the start of the WoR (and likewise with a moogle charm onto someone). Oh, and I think you may be able to try the IAF battles for a Zone Eater, as long as you land on the triangle island beforehand.

Yes, the Paras and Clefairy in Mt Moon are too low level for Mew. You would need at least a level 12 Paras or level 11 Clefairy to get a special of 21. But, you can get 21 special on a level 8 Abra (3/16 chance) or level 12 Bellsprout (blue version, 2/16 chance). One other thing I'm not sure if you realized, but you can pick up your Charmander in the very beginning from the side of the table, no need to go down first.

The memory viewer is quite simple. Just type in the address, hit the "Go" button, and look at the upper left corner. In this case, you'd use address D186 and look at the first two bytes shown.

Another thing to try: -Enter the South Figaro dungeon by the exit to take the Earring.
Hmm, I thought this is what you meant to begin with. I didn't really test if it's faster, but I think it is and it's definitely possible. If it is faster, then after that, you can do whichever ending is faster, of course (either escape with Celes the normal way or continue moving in reverse and perform the bug again). And the moogle's name is Kutan. That's right, not Kupan or Kuppan, but Kutan. I don't know whether using him is quicker (I think it probably isn't), but at least get his name right :P.

I noticed a couple path improvements you could make at the very beginning. When you first exit Link's house, move to the left and pick up the bushes. Saves about half a second. Then, you can save a couple frames right after the bridge before you go through the underground passageway inside the castle walls. Since the castle wall is slightly rounded at the corner, you can get a bit more diagonal walking by doing this:
