Hmmm, well, I tried two different ROMs but in both he dies during the lava level.
And on BitTorrent there is no one with more than 85.1% online.
Any ideas?

I was wondering if someone could tell me or point me to a site on how some of the things in this video occured? For example not running into any monsters and almost constently getting critical hits. I remember playing Dragon Warrior back in the day but never had this good of luck heh.
That's the nature of re-recording. All those monster encounters or missed hits were erased and done over.

Watched the FMV.
What I liked:
-Finished some levels by using your last shot of a special weapon by killing the boss. That must take exceptional planning.
-The Mr. X/Wily levels were done really well. Lots of dogding/bobbing/weaving, and bosses were destroyed very quickly.
I was a little disappointed by the regular stages. I would have liked to see more special weapon usage. Also, the Centaur Flash wasn't used outside of fighting Wind Man. It seems so useful. Do it actually suck?
What's up with BEAT in this game? I'm in the dark, as you collected one piece but didn't get the others.

I think Gauntlet was one of the first games I can remember to use speech; it's the reason it stands out in my mind so vividly.
I remember playing the NES version for hours at a time but never getting anywhere.

I can do a pretty good one tonight. But this graphic bug.. Would it be in all versions? I mean if I send it to Bisqwit, would he see these graphic errors?
Have you tried using another version of the ROM? Perhaps the Japanese version does not contain this "bug."

I think he has to kill enemies and collect hearts on a regular basis in order to collect the stronger arrows, which saves time in the long run.
Personally, I am impressed by those rooms because they are very difficult to clear without taking a hit.

This must vary by software...I got into a wee bit of trouble because I used BitTorrent to download something I shouldn't have. They knew my IP address and contacted my ISP.

I recently saw this article in print:
http://www.stuffmagazine.com/articles/html/article_707.html
It's a list of five games that are "unbeatable," in the author's opinion. Personally, I would agree with the first item: Ultima IV. I owned that game for the Commodore 64 and played it for years and never got close to the finale. My buddy made it to the final dungeon (allegedly) but was slain and had to start over. He found this...discouraging.

Thought I looked through all of the menus. o.o Whoops. @@;
[Edit: Alright, I've checked all the menus AGAIN and I still don't see a spot to change the speed. c.c;;;]
Config -> Speed
Change the percentage to whatever you like. Remember the slower that you go, the slower the game will respond, so button timing may change.
[EDIT: Oops, I assumed you were using Famtasia. I don't know VirtuaNES that well]
If you use the 60fps hack of Famtasia (available on the main page), your responsiveness will increase. Newer time attacks don't use auto-fire anymore, they just run super-slo-mo.
I don't know Mega Man 6 that well, but 47 minutes seems very long when compared to the other games in the series. But I won't judge until I watch your run.
[2ND EDIT: The link does not work. I don't have permission to get the file]

Sleepz tried to make a run of Metal Gear 1, but he found it to be boring and stopped. I never played either to any extent. Personally, I would try part one first, unless the two games are very different.

Umm... am I to understand this as you mean NO sword-killing, i.e. reverting to BOMBS of avoiding ALL above-ground enemies???
Doing Zelda without a sword is IMPOSSIBLE (i use that term loosely), so I'd love to see any FMVs of these runs :)
P.S. and no, i'm not sick of Zelda :)
It is not impossible at all. If you want to see a movie of it, go here:

May I suggest grabbing a sword so you can kill Ganon? It makes a cooler end to the movie than dying.

I had no idea that if you touched bosses in this game, they took damage too! Is that why the 1st boss, the giant bat, just exploded?
I loved the frequent backwards jumping. Time attacks need more humor.

I just watched the swordless 2nd quest video, and considering it was made with Famtasia, it wasn't too good. He made lots of mistakes and the fighting wasn't nearly as accurate as in my video. It definitely doesn't deserve a spot next to Sleepz's video in the time attacks section of Arc's page. If he's going to use save states, he should at least play well. I can play almost that well without save states.
I agree it wasn't perfect, but I was impressed. Maybe I'm going easy on him because he's playing swordless, but I thought the video was pretty cool.

I'm bumping this to discuss Kopernical's new version of MM4.
I was surprised by the new route. The Flash Stopper and Rush Jet were two of the biggest time-savers in the first run, but this time around they're the last two weapons acquired.
I was more surprised by the Balloon Adapter. Somehow I missed that item entirely when I last played the game.
I was a little disappointed that Bright Man landed so many hits. Wasn't as cool as the last version where he got punished.
But the numbers don't lie: This run is much faster, and I commend Kopernical for advancement. And yes, if you didn't say anything I would have assumed you used Autofire.

The run Bisqwit just posted is 17:11. It's usually faster than the 17:06 run, but I think it loses a lot of time fighting in convoys.
Pay attention to the Japanese route.. it minimises convoy scenes. In particular, 5 -> 6 -> 14 -> 3 -> 8 is faster than 5 -> 3 -> 6 -> 14 -> 8, despite having more travel idstance, because it avoids convoys.
I was wondering why I fought so many goddamn trucks! Between the trucks and the possibility of exploiting the Area 17 shortcut, we'll see about a new version in a week or so. I have finals coming up.
Otherwise, what do you think?
