Wubbzy's Amazing Adventure got a TAS recently: Link to video Interesting to see the position and speed values while the movie is playing, as it shows the tech and speed preservation better. I wonder if it is submittable to the site.

Sorry for all these inconveniences. I'm still trying to understand how to handle Linux and all these new graphics options that I've never have been able to use up until now, so I'll keep this all in mind for the next time I TAS on libTAS.

I want to request for a judge to change the current submission file with this new nearly 5 second improvement: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/638775905092173979 This is done on the hardest difficulty setting this time. The improvement comes from the opponents more frequent rolling after getting knocked back. The general strategy and combo is basically identical to the easiest difficulty, save for some slight changes in a couple of fights due to the less cooperative AI. I'll probably have to redo quite a bit of the submission text because of this new movie... and make another encode.

So, in the end, despite the annoyances with the AI in later fights, this ended up saving time over the easiest difficulty! However, this proved to me that there isn't much changed in the strategies or moves used here compared to my previous attempt, so good to know these strategies are still optimal regardless. But please, be a little nicer next time to people using easier modes/difficulties in games. Thanks.

Boy this sure was a really fun watch. I'm a huge fan of the A Koopa's Revenge games so this was a real treat. I didn't realize until now that the Baby Bros. didn't count for 107% completion... good to know. Obviously a big Yes vote from me. Heck, I can see this getting Starred one day... maybe that's just me.

I was able to make a movie that unlocks Huey, which means a proper verification movie that unlocks everything is actually possible. User movie #638766298871901693 Now it's all about having the patience to go through all the game multiple times to unlock all the characters and the final circuit.

Mickey's Speedway USA is the handheld version of the N64 game, also developed by Rare. Leaderboards: https://www.speedrun.com/mickeys_speedway_usa_gbc A full game run (on Beginner) takes over a half an hour to beat. The character stats are relatively the same as the N64 version. MSUSA also features a "Driving School" tutorial mode that takes you on 5 lessons (at the start) where you want to achieve the gold medal by beating them as fast as possible. It also seems there are 3 extra challenge levels featuring Dewey, Huey and Louie that have a (not yet) fully understood unlocking method. That will most likely require a verification movie that goes through that unlocking process. I've been working on a TAS that attempts to beat all these. I thought I was doing fine until I asked for feedback in the game's speedruning Discord server. Turns out I was missing a powersliding technique as well as a few other things, and Mickey seems to be the better character choice unlike of what I initially thought. User movie #638754384663830704 Currently I'm researching and analizing this game a little closer, thanks to the combined efforts of meauxdal and m3g4t0nerr who are doing RTA attempts at these levels, which hasn't been done before. Here's also a RAM Watch file. Still unsure as to what is exactly the X, Y (and Z?) positions and exact speed values, but it's a start I guess: User movie #638766223865899189 This might take longer to finish than what I initially thought.

Ok, so when you're talking about the menuing, are you referring to when I click on a character or the map screen or the title and intro screens at the start? Also for RNG, which levels did you shave of frames without affecting the RNG? As for changing time for RNG seeds, I'm not sure if I have the skillset and patience to figure that out... I'm not too confident in my ability to look for the most optimal seed in this situation (I was never that great at RNG related stuff like this).

A Mickey Mouse racing game made by Rare a few years after Diddy Kong Racing. An "all cups" TAS would be pretty neat I think. Here's the RTA leaderboards: https://www.speedrun.com/msusa The game has had a few new shortcuts discovered recently, which is pretty neat. There's a debug code that you can input on the title screen (DpadRight, DpadUp, B, B, DpadUp, DpadLeft, B, Z). With it, you can view your X, Y, Z positions and your current angle. Probably wouldn't be allowed, so looking for these in RAM Watch or something would be the better alternative. There's also a cheat code that lets you see the checkpoint system in the game (only useful for testing stuff). What is going to be a problem is making a verification movie that unlocks everything possible. Due to the progression system in this game, making an acceptable "All cups" TAS for the site would require it, since the process of unlocking the final circuit with the fastest characters available to reach the ending would take a really long time. So, what needs to be done? Well...
  • Unlocking the extra 2 circuits, Victory Vehicles and Frantic Finale. VV requires to beat the first 3 circuits in Professional difficulty. FF requires obtaining the secret 4 car parts hidden inside all previous 4 circuits.
  • Unlocking Ludwig von Drake (he's the fastest for the vast majority of the tracks in the game). Unlocking this guy requires winning Frantic Finale on Professional difficulty with a Platinum Trophy.
  • Unlocking Dewey. He is unlocked once you beat the first 3 tourneys on Amateur with a Gold/Platinum trophy.
  • Unlocking Louie. He is unlocked once you beat the first 3 circuits on both Amateur and Intermediate with Gold/Platinum trophy.
  • Unlocking Huey... oh boy this kid. Basically, you have to insert the Game Boy color version of Mickey's Speedway USA into an N64 Transfer Pak and he will be unlocked automatically. THANKFULLY, this is possible to do in BizHawk thanks to the Multi-disk Bundler tool. Is this able to be used in a movie file? I don't know. Probably, I hope it is. If it is it would be the fastest unlock in the game, and he is pretty good in this game. Or well, you can just skip all that hassle by using the Japanese version, where you only need to get one Ghost Medal.
  • Unlocking Mirror Mode only requires to beat all 5 circuits.
  • The extra track, New Orleans is weird. To unlock this track, you must go to Practice Mode, go into the farm zone and look for chicken eggs, squash 20 of them and you hear a tune that means you've done it succesfully. Either that or get all 20 Platinum Trophies. I'm mentioning this just in case anyone wants to do Time Trials for this one track specifically.
  • There's also a Digital Speedometer "cheat" that you can unlock by winning a Gold/Platinum Trophy on Mirrored Motor Way Mania. Useful for more easily measuring your top speed (if the exact RAM addresses and values aren't found.
Maybe I'm overthinking things, maybe you don't need to beat all cups on Amateur and Intermediate to unlock the final cutscene and ending. Maybe it doesn't even trigger again after doing everything. Perhaps you only have to play through Professional for the first 4 cups but leave the last one unbeaten for a verification file? I might have to ask around their Discord server for more info.

Okay, so uh... guys... I think I might have to cancel this submission. You may be wondering why though... Well... As it turns out, ruffle isn't emulating this game correctly. You know how in Level 2 there is a moving block obstacle with spikes that can kill you? Well, there is supposed to be more of these throughout the entire game, but for some reason, most of these blocks get shifted to the very right edge of the screen at the end of a level, making the game (unintentionally) easier. Thing is that this isn't supposed to happen. Level 4 skip somehow still works on Flash Player though. On a real Flash Player, all the obstacles are in the correct place as they should be, and even though this makes the game harder, this is the intended, accurate behaviour the game is supposed to have. As you can see in this speedrun, it's using Flash Player, as ruffle didn't really exist back then, and it has all the obstacles in the correct place. The worst part of all this, is that this didn't used to be an issue before in ruffle. The nightly 2021-04-27 build of ruffle (which is really old at this point) is indeed emulating the game correctly, with all the obstacles in the correct place, as you can witness here. This bug somehow only exists on more recent ruffle builds (a regression of sorts) and completely invalidates not just this TAS, but ALSO the current RTA world record. Like... dang dude. Now I WAS going to redo the TAS on this specific nightly 2021-04-27 build, but it doesn't boot with libTAS. So, I'm kind of stuck. If anyone wants to go through the effort of finding a build that both works with libTAS AND properly emulates the game, go right ahead, but there are so many builds to go through that I simply don't have the energy to bother with that myself. I realize this is kind of my fault for not testing this as much as I could have, but still, the fact that this is an issue in the first place still sucks. With all that said, does anyone has some final thoughts on this situation before I move on?

There is an option to turn off the audio (the note at the bottom right of the screen), but as a consequence all the sound effects get turned off as well. The only other alternative I can think of is modifying the swf itself to remove the music, but I don't know if that would affect sync.

Regular Show: Mordecai and Rigby in 8-bit Land is a platforming game made by Wayforward in 2013. You play as both Mordecai (who can double jump) and Rigby (who can go through small gaps). Later on you can transform Mordecai into a spaceship, suddenly changing the genre to a space shooter. Rigby can change his playstyle to that of a top-down shooter. This is a TAS of the first world (1 of 4): Link to video User movie #638721782005581500 Few things of note:
  • From the looks of it, you have a fixed altitude when you jump.
  • It's better to finish a level as Mordecai since ending with Rigby is a few frames slower.
  • Your horizontal momentum when you land on the ground can be halted if you hug a wall. Slightly drifting to the opposite direction in midair can slightly alleviate this issue.
  • I decided not to grab the powerup in the first level and instead avoid the Tough Guy enemy by slowing down near the wall (at around 0:58 in the encode).
  • This game seemingly has that Mega Man thing of "jumping earlier to fall down faster".
  • The boss is really easy. You can just keep hopping on his head constantly to skip having to wait for him to spawn a higher platform. I then carefully time the 2nd jump I still have to land the final hit at the earliest frame I can. EDIT: Now thinking about it, maybe I can switch between characters constantly to see if I can hit the boss's head earlier a few more times. I don't know, it's worth a shot before moving on.
I think that's all I have for now... Now time to start the second world (hopefully).
