Recently there has been a movement of trying to TAS mobile games, within the mobile speedrunning community. Everything that I'm going to be detailing on down below, is currently only for android devices, because we currently know no way of executing something similar on an IOS device. Currently possible ways of "TASing"[/b] We discovered a way of slowing down games on an actual mobile device (we were able to only do that on emulators in the past) so that was a huge step forward. The only problem with our current methods is that a handful of mobile games require rooting your device in order to be slowed down(/sped up but that feature isn't too helpful in our case). There is potentially a way of doing so without a rooted device that i will explain below. The way we are achieving the slowdown by using a program called game guardian, which normally requires a rooted device, but you can use it without one following these steps. Depending on which virtual space you use there might be certain things that might or might not work, which leads to the whole needing or not needing a rooted device. Rooting your device is a whole different subject with its own problems depending on your own device, which i will not go into further detail about. Examples of some TASes[/b] There have only been a few different TASes made, on some of the more popular speedgames of our community: Tomb of the Mask (Arcade, 2 floors) by GingerNinja Cat Bird (Marda, Buzzcut) by Skycloud Super Dangerous Dungeons(Grass Dungeon, Level 3) by Skycloud Now, is there anything else we can do apart from slowing down the game?[/b] With our current tools, there's not much we can do on an actual mobile device. We have theory crafted about potentially using android emulators, so we can use TASing tools available for PC, but after testing around with them we found that most emulators on windows are really inconsistent with how smoothly a game runs, which usually puts them out of the picture. I'm only mentioning windows emulators, as we haven't tested any android emulators on Mac/Linux. Helping out[/b] As i said earlier, we only recently revitalized the mobile TASing movement, so we are still new to everything, and constantly experimenting. Most of our communications and testing attempts happen over at the mobile speedrunning discord, where we have a dedicated TAS researching channel. Feel free to join in and help us in our journey to TAS greatness! Lastly[/b] Of course, everything listed here was not found exclusively by me, so I want to shoutout the people from the mobile speedrunning discord that took the initial steps so TASing can become possible: Gingerninja, Skyckoud, Godchueco and more! Thanks for reading!
