Alright, AngerFist. Fair enough. I was rushing to be helpful and gave the correct reply to the wrong question. I'm sorry. Happy now? Perhaps Bisqwit should have a "videotype" string to the site's database which will dynamically create the necessary text if "videotype" for a game movie is AVI ("Download AVI file via BitTorrent") or MKV ("Download MKV file via BitTorrent") etc.

No, they are MKV movie files. If your player can't play them, look here: http://tasvideos.org/CodecProblems.html Nice to see this published, BTW. Earthworm Jim is a fun, funny... and often frustrating platformer.

This is a, sadly, underknown and underappreciated game. For those of you that haven't heard of it, see here for more info: http://www.classicgaming.com/reviews/ninjafive/ninjafive.htm

http://x264.nl/ have removed the 2005-07-01 build due to playback problems. Try the 2005-06-19 build first, and if that still doesn't play this AVI, use the newest build (2005-07-01) but expect other problems!

> Your re-recording counts and your holding of autofire seems a little.... YES YES ALRIGHT!! I'm quite aware of this by now, thanks to Bisqwit and Bob Whoops. I am making another run, it will slaughter my original in terms of accuracy. Talking of which, I am taking the old run down. Probably for the best.

> I only watched the first minute of this movie. Bisqwit, I understand that this is your site and you have the last word... but I hope you will not be basing your choice to keep or delete this movie just based on the first minute! May I recommend watching the ENTIRE video? > And why are you holding autofire constantly? Your accuracy is very bad. Okay this I particularly resent. I'm assuming this also refers to the "first minute". I only have basic weapons there, so I have to make up for this with extra movement to spread fire around... which is a basic shmup tactic. This happens far less once I reach Sieren, where I have all the weapons and begin to pick particular ones for particular "jobs." > At the beginning, when you select the game mode, why do you shuffle the options back & forth? A mistake I would edit out if this were possible. But of course it can be in an AVI... > "I'm a skilly player, I can make a good timeattack movie without using many rerecords". Yes. I have played Thunder Force 3 more times than I can possibly count, and I didn't particularly want to play the whole thing at 5% speeds. I don't really NEED to either (although I did on a couple of occasions in Thunder Force 2). I suppose a movie where the player only shoots exactly where necessary would be more "perfect", but... this is a shootemup, not Mega Man! > but I didn't read it because the zip should only contain your movie, and all the comments should be written here I was not aware of any rule stating that a text file of any sort could NOT be included. However if you wish to remove them, I don't mind. They were really there to accompany the file for "casual downloaders" when I originally posted the movies on the message board.

Even better then, it would be nice if the authour of each movie could state specifically what samplerate was used when recording the movie? Oh yes, and I hope that the single no vote for this movie was simply due to the supposed desync... as this IS a fabulous run of an incredibly hard game.

FIXED. Okay, interestingly this happened to me in Gens as well, with another rom that I KNEW was correct. I have the same Nosferatu rom as Tombad, and the movie desynchronised immediately after stage 3 began (at the axe). I had audio sample rate set to 44.1kHz. Setting it to 32kHz fixed the error, and the entire movie played back fine. I also had "sound sync" ON. Bisqwit, if you see this, could you PLEASE post this info somewhere so that all forum-goers see it? It would seem that the audio samplerate is crucial to watching these xMV files correctly, at least certainly in Gens and Snes9x.

Note that I've already done a run for TF3 here: http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=429 No there are no top-view stages in TF3 or 4, they only appeared in TFs 1 and 2. Note that KamiKaze is going for a PACIFIST run.

Bladegash, don't forget my Thunderforce 2 run. 4 is also, slowly but surely, on the way. However it'll be MUCH LESS interesting than the other games, trust me on this....

Battle Wings / Steel Master - http://www.genesiscollective.com/ShowPage.php?GameLink=336 Bio-Hazard Battle / Crying - A rare horzie shmup. http://www.genesiscollective.com/ShowPage.php?GameLink=712 Curse - Interesting, lesser-known horzie. http://www.genesiscollective.com/ShowPage.php?GameLink=620 Elemental Master - Whether you're into vert shooters or not, this is a mustplay. It's by Technosoft, for chrissakes. And the soundtrack rocks. http://www.genesiscollective.com/ShowPage.php?GameLink=210 Eliminate Down - long levels, needs lots of memorising. HARD BASTARD! :P http://www.genesiscollective.com/ShowPage.php?GameLink=791 Gleylancer - similar to Thunderforce 3. Seems almost as good. But Gate Of Thunder for PC Engine beats the shit out of it. I'm looking into doing Gleylancer at some point... but TF4 is higher priority. http://www.genesiscollective.com/ShowPage.php?GameLink=844 Gynoug / Wings Of Wor - Horzie shmup where you control a winged bloke. http://www.genesiscollective.com/ShowPage.php?GameLink=302 Sol-Deace - http://www.genesiscollective.com/ShowPage.php?GameLink=1098 Truxton - tough vertical shooter. Looks rather old these days, but it plays reasonably okay. For a vert. (I'm a horzi fan ;) http://www.genesiscollective.com/ShowPage.php?GameLink=1192

Title wait is intentional. Enjoy the music! Locke SET YOUR AUDIO PLAYBACK TO 44100 hz!! Thunder Force 4? Of course! Just, not yet... it's a heck of a game to tackle... Xebra: be patient and wait for the GMV to start :P. As for the difficulty, you've either played this a lot, or you've only played Normal. Hard IS hard, especially levels 5 and 9. And don't even think about going near the X68000 version unless you like your games to be impossible!

Okay, here is Thunder Force 2, utterly conquered on Hard mode, in 18 minutes 39 seconds. I say recommended AND "utterly conquered" because I pulled out all the stops here, and there's some truely mental flying going on in this GMV. Not to mention a couple of the levels in this game are unforgiving as hell... So, hope you enjoy it! http://www.chis.nildram.co.uk/misc/thunderforce2_ju_!_hard-chis-gmv.zip Yes this is more my forte. Another World taught me as much! :P Note, this requires Thunder Force 2 (U) [!].SMD/ZIP, and be sure to set Gens' sound playback to 44100 hz !!

Foda is able to play it back from start to finish. I am able to play it back from start to finish. Considering my Thunderforce 3 run, you surely don't think I'd send out a GMV without checking the movie plays through correctly FROM START TO FINISH, MYSELF? It works, Lester does not die. Find another rom, or re-record it yourself. As I said, I have finished with this game and no longer wish to touch it (I'm finishing off another Thunderforce run anyway...)

Foda, you got it to work? Ah well, there you go then. The rest of you must be using the wrong rom. :P Really, I know WHY it would "desync," on the second screen with slugs Lester gets _that_ close to getting stung by one, but he DOESN'T - he kicks it and moves on. Foda, lots of good points there... firstly the slugs at the start. If Lester doesn't kill them before tackling the black beast, when running back he would get stung by them if they were still there. Jumping whilst running yes I should have done that more, however there are many scenes where Lester runs away with lasers firing at him from behind. If you jump during this, the lasers almost certainly hit him. Number 8 - I tried running straight through, kept dying under the first load of rocks. Number 10 - I did try killing one or two off with mega-shots, but it takes so much longer to charge, I'm not sure it would be faster. Number 17 - looking back at it, by the time I get mega-laser shots off and then small shots to kill the guards, they're close to destroying the shields I've made. Precaution. (well, another part is I'm close to loathing this game after all this! and a scene like that it's particularly frustrating to have to go back and try and refine it further...) The ending has closure (Lester and friend escape), but it tells us nothing else. Highly disappointing.

Thanks Foda, but they won't be necessary. :) I just need to get off my arse and to try rerecord that last section AGAIN. I know what to do, I've completed it enough times now... just that last battle with the guards (before the bit where Lester falls and gets caught by another guard), is EVIL. I'll get there, eventually...

(old message) Right it seems I'm having some resynch problems... I've done this final battle a dozen (too damn many) times now, and THIS time I know I did it successfully yet the damn GMV desynchs half-way through it! So I'm stopping for now. Speedrunning/timeattacking is frustrating enough without the game being extra-frustrating as well!!!

Another World / Out Of This World - Completed Done, over with. I wash my hands of this game!! Here is the GMV: http://www.chis.nildram.co.uk/misc/outofthisworld_u_!_chis_gmv.zip This is a complete run of Another World (known in the USA as Out Of This World), and requires the Out of This World (U) [!] rom. If my maths is correct (not usually :P), this run lasts 17 minutes and 42 seconds... I'll edit this if not. Again, not a flawless run, but mostly good. Fun to watch, due to the style of the game.

I keep getting the "A Hotlinking Error Has Occurred" page (either in Firefox, IE, or as a ZIP file). I'm not a PC newbie or anything, I've tried various methods to download the file (DLExpert is the download manager I use - the only one I know that is free and isn't infected with adware), and none of them work. Find another server, man. For goodness sakes! Doesn't your ISP provide any webspace?

Dan, that is one horrible server. It's one step away from installing the spyware Gator under IE, and I don't think it will let me download unless I accept the cookies they're trying to push to me (again, one of them from Gator!!). Can someone please host the GMV for him? At least I know why it never worked for me... I never got a real ZIP, just a 404 html page... :P

I've sort-of started on Thunder Force 2... in the top and even the side-view levels, 100% enemies is NOT possible, so don't expect that. I have a copy of the X68000 version though (yes! the original), and the maps in the top-view levels of it should help me get through them much quicker. (He says... that Egyptian Ruins level was always a convoluted bastiche.)

Dan_, I have a copy of the same rom (CV B [U] [!]) verified as such by GoodGen, yet your movie doesn't work with it. 10000000+ rerecords, means the GMV and ROM are mismatched. Any ideas?

Old run removed. Don't bother. I have a new run of this game in progress. No idea when it will be done, but hopefully by the end of THIS month.
