Are you sure that this doesn't work on Red or Blue? What about all the items? Do I need to get as so many items or not? Regardless, this is an incredible glitch. =)

Hm, is there any trainer in the game that has a last Pokemon with a Special stat of 76 (or a random battle)? lol, this post is very meaningful@postcount. >_>

Wow, great. Thanks for the upload. Edit: watched it. That's really an omgwtf glitch that I just have to learn lol. Are there specific items you really need? And what badges do you get? I can imagine Surge for Fly and probably Brock because you can't skip him in Yellow. But how are you gonna get to the E4, with the badge check and all.

I have v19, but the vid won't play. The guy just stands there waiting on me to do something. Could there be any settings that shouldn't be on or something? =/

http://files.filefront.com/Deku+Palace+Teleport+muxedmp4/;9470199;/fileinfo.html Taped it this morning. Really weird and it seems to teleport you to different spots if you step in one of the invisible lights (assuming there are more).

Same here. I really want to know what it does. Also, I can't play the VBM of Yellow. ;(

You know, I may just try it then. I guess mister Hypno has to Poison me. Blizzard + Elixer skips Ice Beam (and thus less lift usage for my current route).

Well. There's a faster method. If you go to lowest part of the route and hug it while walking to the right and end the talking with B and save, when you reset, you'll be able to walk to the right after the talking ends (no neccesary walking to the Gym). Someone had this trick on YouTube but I found it only after posting my own Brock skip vid. Here's the trick: http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=aphndAUoqJ4 Anyway, I was past Mt.Moon already when I figured it out so I didn't feel like resetting. Maybe later. I can shave of at least 1 or maybe even 2 minutes with some luck of my current run or if I use a different route (maybe even Take Down? o_O).

I'm pretty darn sure that it will be accepted. Mike just asked me something about in what category it should be. ;) And imo, I think the first part is really boring and the latter part is quite a bit more interesting but oh well.

Because I have no idea when SDA will upload my speedrun (if they even will), I decided to upload it on YouTube. http://nl.youtube.com/profile?user=ThomazSDA Enjoy! :)

Someone on SDA thought of this: When you activate the trainer-fly glitch, a bunch of events are disabled. Could you skip a bunch of trainers/events doing this?

How do you intend to get up to Victory Road? You need to Surf across and your Pause menu is disabled.

Not only that, but events are only disabled in the same area where you performed the glitch. For example, example, in Mt. Moon, one can walk past all the trainers on the third level after performing the glitch, but not on the first or second level. This serverely limits its usage.
I know these posts have been since forever, and I really couldn't bother to backread everything from so many pages... so what I might post might've been already discovered. And even if not, the impracticality of all the prerequisite might make it useless as well. But I found a way to "permanently disable" all trainer events (and maybe other NPC events) in an area. Even after saving, soft-resetting, and reloading, it remains disabled. See, I was originally walking around poisoned, intending to do WTW. But then, out of the blue, I just decided to try an FCBM. After flying away, I died from poisoning. And when I returned, all trainer events were still disabled, but I had my start button. Using soup's game, I disabled two areas with this little trick just to see if you can disable multiple areas. (north and east routes of Vermillion) Here's a VBA save file: http://rapidshare.com/files/75541737/pokeblue_lockedareas.zip.html I'm not sure what use this might be though, but it may be useful to skip some NPCs that block you may be? And still have your start button? And the side effects are funny too. Talking to a trainer makes you fight him THREE times, then the entire area becomes very laggy afterwards.
I'm not sure how this works exactly but maybe you could use it to get past the guards before the League without actually having the badges. One thing I foresee though, is that you probably need Surf and Strength or can you do WtW again but for real this time? First WtW to disable the guards, second WtW to get there. Just a though.

I don't know about teleporting tiles but going through the door just means you get teleported away after entering/leaving a house.

Meh, I wonder how much more closer I can get it to the TAS. :P I guess Take Down + a critical Selfdestruct (LOL, that's gonna be extremely hard) + less mistakes + Blizzard instead of the current Ice Beam + faster Brock Skip would speed it up a bit, I wonder how much time I'd save. I could try for less Repel usage but maybe that's pushing it. >_>

Hm, not sure. :/ Anyway, I just finished my Pokemon Blue run (non TASed of course). I got 1:26. =D 12 minutes improvement over my old Youtube run! ^_^

Meh, I'm trying to get Weezing to use Selfdestruct on me the first turn, dealing exactly 40 damage but it's not working. It's starting to get annoying. xD Okay, I got 40 damage in a testrun so I'm sure it's possible but I haven't gotten any luck yet. I'm guessing Weezing has 103-105 Attack (giving a damage window of 35-40, 37 on average, which seems to be correct). Mew has 208 Defense. So, if I'm not mistaken and 40 is indeed the max damage it possible can do, I have a 1/38 shot at Selfdestruct dealing exactly 40 damage. This sucks. Oh well, I can deal with 39 damage as well though, because I could remove two steps (getting 1 HP Poison damage less) and put them elsewhere so I get 2 HP Poison damage more which gives me 1 HP less. ^_^ (3 steps when leaving a building) With 39 damage, I have a 6/38 chance (or 3/19) if I calculated it correct.

Easy, you skip Snorlax and thus, skip Rock Tunnel. Here's how it's done: Defeat the Gamber with the Magnemite/Voltorb, go through the house with the guard and set foot on the new route for at least 3 steps. Walk back and activate the Mew glitch on the Youngster. Defeat the Bug Catcher with Butterfree, then head back to route 16. Run from Chansey and go to the route where Snorlax was. Voila, it's gone. Exp underflow is done by getting a Pokemon down to level 1 during the glitch (Growl the Special stat Poke six times). After catching the level 1 Pokemon, make it fight a Pokemon so that it receives less then 53 experience. It will grow to level 100 then.

Brock and Giovanni are skipped. Anyway. There's some dillema I'm having right now. Skipping Brock means I'm at a pretty low level (level 14 just before Mt.Moon), beating the entire Nugget Bridge + Mt.Moon guys is pretty difficult (only viable with more saves). Now, I was thinking about glitching either Gyarados, Gengar or Nidoqueen. Both Gengar and Nidoqueen will be at level 100 so the trainers won't be much of a problem, however, they only have 15 PP for a 'quick' move. That's not a big problem, but it adds up. Gyarados will need a Potion after catching (I'd catch the others without damaging them) and will have a little more trouble with the fights, but he's easier and faster to glitch. It's pretty darn hard to reach the Rocket without using a save inbetween, but it's possible. Combining the chance that you'll catch Gyarados or the the 100s + walking that entire part after activating the glitch means I'd probably have to settle with one extra random battle. All in all, I just wonder what's faster. Doing it with Charmander (and Charmeleon during Nugget Bridge) or with one of the other three guys. Also, because triggering Meowth to get a Mew is hard enough so I'll stick to Slowpoke/Shellder, but Horsea is annoying because I don't think Charmeleon is really that strong because of the missing levels (and I don't have Bide) and money for Potions is out of the question. I tried the part up and with Nugget Bridge to compare that time with my old time (without saving, just testing) and I was about 2 minutes faster and that's with substracting the random battles. Help please? =(

Thanks for the explanation guys. This is one amazing glitch that I just GOT to implement in my run. =D Although, I'm pretty much half way through taping the new run, but I'll just start over again. =D Thanks, hanzou, I appreciate that. ^_^ Edit: I've been going through the new route and I think it would be best to trigger a Pokemon in Mt.Moon, but I'm not sure which one, Gyarados, Gengar or Nidoqueen. Gyarados has a few problems with power but the others are harder to catch and take longer.

So, how exactly is this done? I can't seem to get the file to work (save error or something).

Oh? VLC works fine for me. I'll upload it later on YouTube. Edit: nevermind guys, I just checked the TAS (which is awesome) and your method is slightly faster so I'll use that one (I used the 'original Gamber' to glitch Snorlax away). Furthermore, there are a few things I could use in my run (although I figured most of it out in my new test run I did). I fear that the run might look like the TAS though, so I don't hope that people think I'm trying to the TAS, I pretty much figured that route out on my own and rethought it with the help of primo, so yeah.

Oh, nice. I'll check right away. Anyway, I taped the second Snorlax skip I used. http://files.filefront.com/Second+Snorlax+Skipmp4/;8367605;;/fileinfo.html I want to know if this is the fastest way (not counting the mistakes and Surf instead of Bubblebeam, I had to use my finished game for this).
