it wouldn't even be entertaining in the first place. It would be boring as fuck, like an any% run through the level just with running shoes. I agree that we try to beat like WRs during time trials where you don't need to get gems, that's about it though.

It's not essentially NG+ you are right, but it gives you the reward for beating the game on a fresh and new file. I would say that is, although not intentionally, a NG+ feature. I would definitely want to avoid it colliding with a regular 105% speedrun.
Regarding the relics, due to strats it may be difficult to keep up an all-Platinums-rule, especially hard to keep up a faster-than-developers-rule. One-cycles in levels are essential to save real time and they are the reason why the run looks impressive in the first place. Also, a "NG+" (as I will still call it for now) might do a TAS only time trial where you get the Gold relic in Bug Lite with the extra gem. I am not sure whether that's possible but I am quite confident it will work out with fram perfect zigzagging. In real-time it is far out of reach though. And then there are the obligatory skips for NG+ that you cannot do in a regular 105% (Purple gem skip in Tomb Time, Early yellow gem).
I think a TAS should use this gltich or whatever the hell it is now.

I am perfectly aware of the glitch and whenever we speak about NG+, we mean the use of that glitch. I didn't use it in my run because it is a different category and also not worth it for a real time run in my opinion, seeing as there are only two tricks that will save additional time if you use the NG+ glitch, and one of them is incredibly inconsistent. You cannot clip through the gate in the 4th warp room back so you really ahve to exit out of the level. this would be an okay trick for a TAS, sure. Doesn't really qualify in a real-time run in my opinion.

Wrong, you can only skip the first cortex fight.
If you guys are interested to see what a 105% TAS would looke like in the briefs, it would just take the route (or a variation of it) of the current WR run of 105%. There are a few imporevemnts that can still be made in that run, but it should giv you a rough idea of what the TAS will be like...just faster and better. And no, we do not get Running Shoes until the VERY END.Going through an additional cortex fight and credits is not worth it. Also we are bound to go for real-time in a TAS because we get relics in the same go as certain gems to save detour in the non-time trial run through the level.
This possible skip in in TW. near the jump pad there is the place where you unlock the battle arena. Near that enterance is a tall stack of boxes that reach higher than you can jump. I plan to, with much patients, try to break as few boxes as possible (while still being able to get on top) and see it I can get out of bounds that way.
If that works then that would be 14 crystal we wouldn't have to collect. If you need me to post a video or a picture of the area I'm talking about, I can.
I have tried this exact thing and couldn't make anything out of it. It was the only idea I had for another major skip. If you jump and spin and immediately turn away you should be able to only break like three or so boxes and you can land on the tall tower of boxes. It is enough to clip a bit into the ceiling but by no means anough to get out of bounds, so I don't think you can find a trick if you approach it this way unless you can find another ledge or something to grab on to.
Edit I don't remember which one is the slowest in Crash 3 but here is a list of which Crash game is the fastest on which region.
Crash 1 - Japanese/ NTSC (It should be Japanese as fastest due to a level shrink and a gem change)
Crash 2 - PAL
Crash 3 - NTSC
For Crash 1, the NTSC-J is still not confirmed to be the fastest in Any%. In 100% it is without a doubt though. But in Any%, it might not because you always HAVE to face a box screen whereas you can bypass it by dying in other versions. Maybe the time will add up and the NTSC-J version might turn out to be a second or two slower than the regular versions. As for PAL vs NTSC-U, we cannot really tell. Frame perfect zigzagging on NTSC might be faster than it is on PAL. Due to the difference of Crash's running speed there are also different cycles in levels, you have to face, thus making all of this hardly comparable.
For Crash 2, the PAL version is faster except in the Glitched Any%. Boss fights are MUCH faster on NTSC, plus jumping is lower so it takes less time to get the 200 bounces. So NTSC is the fastest version for that category in particular.
Crash 3's NTSC-U version is most likely the fastest for all categories. PAL faces the same speed differences as in the other games, it might only be faster in New Game Plus. NTSC-J is identical to NTSC-U with the exception of Aku Aku popping out when you destroy mask boxes.

You can get into the third warp room but you can't get back out thus you are unable to backtrack to the other warp rooms. It would have been cool to be honest, since it would completely eliminate non-100%ing Tomb Time and Bone Yard on the first go (which are the only games not being 100%'d when first visited). But until somebody finds a way to clip back out, it shouldn't be possible.

Is there any chance that BizHawk can emulate PSX games? It seems to be the only way to do a TAS of Crash Bandicoot 3 since it is gltichy as hell on PSXJin and PCSX-rr, but I would be willing to do a TAS of it.

Also goodluck trying to beat my friend Samura1man, did you know his WR is now 005301?
Wrong. Samura got 50something eons ago. Also, Cane holds the WR himself.

That shouts out for a new encoded update on this. I reckon by the time you end the TAS it could well be around 10 minutes faster than the others, seeing as Heavy Machinery is just at the beginning of the 3rd island and you are now almost seven minutes faster.

Maybe that will help. I would need a bit help to set up the emulator (because before this I used PCSX which sucks a lot) so any help would be appreciated.
If anyone can give me pirohiko's inputs and help me understand it, I would actually be willing to do a run.

Spike, Matt, Ricker, I will help ye out if needed. Maybe I can give you some advise. I with my 184% save file of this game =\
But seriously though.
And have fun thinking of the entertainment part on level like Pogo Painter (pretty much the timed levels in which you have to score as much as possible).

I was going for an any% without major skips. I am quite experienced in speedurnning Crash 2 and I do know how the fast Slidespin works. Combining it with Zig-Zag doesn't seem to work for me. What I do is beginning a slide and then pressing Up+Left, Up, Up+Right, Up etc. in that order but the speed is simply crap so I want someone (someone=pirohiko) to explain me how it is actually done.

I just yesterday submitted this speedrun. Full of enthusiasm I was waiting for the feedback, but it got rejected, even though me and my friends out so much effort into it. Can you tell me what's wrong with it?

Check this one to see what Spikestuff's partner, ThaRixer did as practice. I kinda told him what to do (the zig-zag, though I think he was aware of it himself as well as being able to NSJ at the beginning when Crash usually doesn't move form the spot) but I didn't TAS myself (not really that much of a fan of doing the work). So it actually is a co-op TAS while Spikestuff works on different levels. I would like to know what people think about this so far. Especially pirohiko, who seems quite experienced at TASing these games.
