Back to the movie at hand, I kind of wish Blue would've evolved Gloom during Seafoam Islands fishing, so we could have an awesome simultaneous legendary bird screenshot. Oh well. Voting yes regardless.

There's 2 slightly different layouts of F0, do you know where they come from? I always assumed one was on PSX and one was on DS, but the F0 in this run is the same as the DS one.
Field 0 changes when you play in Special Edition mode on the DS. A few other fields also get changed a bit to add new doors and stuff. But you can play in original PSX mode which keeps the layouts like normal.

I guess this is not what you want to hear, but actually all your times are worse than the best human records as well (except F31, which seems to be maxed).
I mean, yeah, go ahead, keep knowingly pouring salt into the wounds. That's definitely a good thing for you to be doing.
Hey guy, grow up. mattk210 is being nothing but informative. Either redo the movie or not, that's your call, but don't shoot the messenger.

Umihara Kawase (the game) is a unique physics platformer (a "rappelling action game" if I'm reading that katakana right)
A bit late, but that's rubberring action. Yes, it's a made-up word for a made-up genre.

About Ice Stone skip, it IS possible to skip the Ice Stone as Sonic, it just wasn't found when I did my TAS. You can get out of there with a spindash jump towards the ceiling from the pool thing in Ice Cap area. It should save around 10-15 seconds.
Yeah, I found it on my own while testing the requirements for each event trigger, though I didn't time it. You can clear Ice Cap as soon as you get to Mystic Ruins, and if you do this, Knuckles will appear near the waterfall, but the trigger for his battle event doesn't activate until you've advanced the story to the second day (which happens when go to the casino area after beating Casinopolis and advancing the story to nighttime, which in turn happens when you exit the sewers with the light shoes during sunset, which itself is only triggered after beating Windy Valley... sigh)

And I'd like to share you guys a recent found by cjbqulix, that we are working on to find a way to make it save time in a run. It's about a wrong warp using cutscenes: http://www.twitch.tv/cjbqulix/c/4544111 Basically, if you do things in the wrong order and do a game over before the cutscene after the wrong order levels, the cutscene will be wrongly played. In that video, not many weird things happened, it was just a weird cutscene with a death, but things like appearing in the lost jungle with the Ice Stone can happen! So we're doing a lot of researches in this :)
This is really interesting stuff, and yet already there seems to exist some familiarity with this type of glitch ("Tails does have one!") even though I haven't seen it discussed anywhere else. Are these things being documented somewhere? Is there a forum I should be following or something?

Yeah, I've been personally been looking into breaking Sonic's episode, but so far I haven't been actually able to skip anything due to later stuff depending very strictly on it. And although it's possible to do stuff out of order, none of it actually saves any time because you'll eventually have to purposely go back to those places in order to push the story along its usual path (Casinopolis, Speed Highway). EDIT: the only thing that might work out is an Ice Stone skip, but I'm unsure if it would actually save time over perfect movement picking up and carrying the item (you'd have to go out of bounds to get back out and reach the Knuckles fight)

There's this, which is not the same as starting on a different level, but in a similar way, the starting character is chosen non-deterministically at power on (possibly due to something like register entropy or reading from dirty RAM). So there is precedent for hardware start-up conditions which cannot be directly influenced by the player dramatically changing how the game plays out.
