Memory needs to realize there's a difference between the movies someone's produced and what they think of them personally.

Could someone please re-encode this move? I'd prefer a video that isn't glitchy in various places.

Amazing improvement, I forward to the additional information about the new techniques that were used in the run.

Any%, Any% with wrong warp and ACE have nearly always been separate categories. Any% WW usually involves beating the final boss, which is why it's considered a valid middle ground.

I tried messing about with it for a couple of hours when the video initially came out and had no success, and people even tried replicating DOTA's entire inputs from his stream and they couldn't do it. Like others have been saying it could be crooked cartridge or DOTA not playing with a legitimate ROM.

Would the bug shown here be an acceptable way to obsolete the current Cheetahmen TAS? Link to video

This deserves to be it's own category. It's different enough from the other Alucard runs.

Never knew there was a Stryder 2. Surprised how similar it is compared to the original. I know from toying about with the original how hard this game would be to TAS, and you did a very good job.

It's a premade file run made in the same manner as this one.

Based on that, don't you still need a prior save file to pull it off?

If this data carrying glitch can be done from any saving points, then it's rather arbitrary to start from that one specific saving point and not just start from the last saving point in this proposed "NG+" category.
It only works in the nearest 3 save points, with the one being used in the movie being the best overall candidate.

I've always considered runs that involve extreme glitches and ACE as being different, because the former usually involves completing the games ultimate end goal i.e. defeating the final boss; as opposed to manipulating the games memory system and executing a jump to the games end credits. Yes vote BTW.

Non-battery memory was in use by at least GBA. It seems "brick" is now used to include something that is recoverable with external resources but presently useless, at least in current usage.
It's a case be case basis. Games like Ruby/Sapphire, Metroid Fusion and HoD use an internal battery as shown here

Just showing you can do the glitched teleport as Maria, which would be a big time saver, but it appears to be a softlock. Alucard is the only one who can make use of it due to his mist ability. Link to video

The RTA is now more refined. I was aware of the glitched warp in the throne room for quite some time, but never found a way to do it as Maria, which would save a lot of time if it does turn out to be possible. As of right now only 3 save locations near the beginning of the game work, with the one being used in RTA being the best candidate. I still think a Richter/Maria path would likely be faster with Alucard. You just need to find a convenient way of grabbing a powerful enough weapon to deal with the bosses. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/732487111

OK, have the glitch fully figured out. You need to soft reset out after saving. Then select the saved file, and on selecting it soft reset out again, the select a new file and choose Alucard.

It seems the Saturn version is now the fastest for doing Alucard runs. Faster than even the XBLA version. Due to a save corruption glitch, which involves starting as Maria. Going to the nearest savepoint. Soft resetting out and then opening a save file and magically starting off with Alucard who has all the abilities in the game. I imagine this would also make an All Bosses Alucard run faster as well. I'm still unclear as to how this exactly works, because I know it's unlikely the current record uses the optimal strategies. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/728842688

I don't think Ninpen makes the best TASing material. It's a monotonous game where it's likely strategies won't deviate from the most obvious intended methods. I personally would have suggested Burning Rangers for a short not too complex game, with potential for clever strategies. However, I'm with you and would say Bugs is even worse TASing material than Ninpen.

Posting this for documentation sake. There is a secret character that can be accessed via cheat code called Ginger and he's very much OP. He runs faster, jumps higher, has faster attacks and can double jump. For obvious reasons he would need to be a separate category. However, I don't think he should be allowed until one with the regular character has been done first. Link to video

Based on what the author has said in his submission text it would effect how much HP bosses have and how much damage enemies do to you.

I have a slight issue with this movie in relation to playing on the hardest difficulty. It doesn't because there is cheat codes to access harder difficulties. At the Konami logo screen you press Left 4 times, Right 4 times, Left 7 times, Right once, and then Left once for Crazy Hard difficulty.
