I'm trying to record a new movie for GBA on ver. 2.0.1 and I get this error message:

It says I need a BIOS for deterministic recordings, so what should I do?
Thank you
The battle frontier is no joke. lol.
Optimizations for the Pyramid is legit too that GoddessMaria also did.
I can imagine this kind of run being worked on by at least 4 peeps by how much luck is involved. lol
So uhh Werster is a beast for doing this:

And uhh yeah... a TAS run of this category would be pretty sweet to watch. This kind of run would be hell to actually do alone, but I know FractalFusion, GoddessMaria and etc has done some work on this game. Any thoughts?
Some things I've seen in Werster's run that can change:
1. Not using Metagross and replace with Swellow
2. Swellow/Mudkip evolution line would be the main pokes to use in the story part.
3. Hariyamma could deffinitely be an option when caught in Victory Road. That would ultimately save time having to not catch Latios. Hell, the last poke, doesn't even have to be a legit set.
Can't think atm, but I'm sure there's more routing ideas I can think of later on..
Based on how the trainer moves in 3rd gen, the animations look different (then all gens), but the mechanics seem to be the same for 2nd and 1st gen games.
In all games, the trainer can just change direction by lightly tapping one of the directional inputs, so I think that's what's being applied in the video. To shorten the animation, you go the direction your facing and then go the direction you need to go. I guess the game's interpretation of movement is that if you are already in walking motion (even for 1 frame) you can turn more easily. The standing position and then inputting a direction is slow because you're not in motion by at least one frame.
That was a really great find and if it works for all games, that would be nice too.
Also, is there a LUA script that can be made by using a search function to find RNG's you need?
Example:
You have a table that displays when a wild appears. The LUA script can decode the RNG ahead of time to see what pokemon it is (shiney, nature, stats). I figure this would be kind of impossible, but I was just wondering if you can predict RNG's wayyyyy ahead of time by using LUA scripts. And by wayyy ahead of time, I mean like.... 10,000 frames.
I think to make up the shortage of rare candies, you can have taillow kill off either of Roxanne's pokes after mudkip does much of the damage. Taillow at most can do 6 damage to Nosepass, so if Mudkip dies after using a Torrent boosted water gun, Taillow can finish off the rest. It is possible to do, but I'm not quite there yet.
"When possible, the game determines item pickup, if any, from Pickup ability at the end of battle, a few frames before the fadeout."
I was assuming battle was from any battle scene (wild, trainers, tuts).
Yeah I was really trying to figure out all my possibilities as far as using the right Pkmn. Makuhita is not really a great choice for several reasons (Multi-hit moves, low PP on most moves, needs to catch another poke) I was really just wanting that extra attack buff, but that's not really useful to compliment with Maku's movepool.
I am attempting a speedrun Any% with Swellow atm.
My plan is to catch a level 6 Taillow/Adamant/IV 31. in petalburg woods (Rare Candy) and paralys with shroomish.(Rare Candy)
Use the 5 Rare Candies I picked up (3 for Mudkip's Water Gun and the rest will be for Taillow) from Youngster, Wally, Taillow, Shroomish, and 1st Grunt.
I'm doing this because I want to accelerate Taillow's exp to 1HKO Magma Grunt 1 and 2 Poochyena's. I did damage calc's for both.
Guts+Stab+Crit > Mudkip's tackle even at level 6. I will be slower, but w/e.
I really want Pokerus, but like you said, it's REALLY rare and almost impractical.
I just got my running shoes and I'll be doing a lot more now and later this weekend. I really picked up on a lot recently and it's getting really fun ^^
