It looks like that was on the PC port of the game, whatever that means. Maybe it's replicable on the Genesis but I recall someone mentioning being able to glitch through a wall in the Cave of Wonders but it turned out not to be possible (as far as we know) in the Genesis version

What would this amount to "in real life"? Playing vanilla Sonic and Knuckles while a Sonic 3 cart is plugged into it? Kind of interesting but odd to see as a submission.

Man that new jump glitch... it's been years since I played this, but I'm wondering if that's what I used for the pillar skip in Sultan's Palace without knowing.

EDIT: I was thinking of a completely different game. This is embarrassing.

I discovered a glitch a while ago that puts you into the ground via the pounder things that come out of the ceiling to smoosh you. If you duck underneath them and then press up a frame or so before you are smooshed, you will be pressed into the ground. I recall it saving time in at least one instance. I don't know if this is something that was showcased in the prior WIP

Both TAS's is still a bit a ways from being completed but are being worked on slowly. The skip that Archanfel found is amazing and I can't wait for everyone to see it.
I hope I remember to keep an eye on the progress. Most likely though I'll get busy and forget to check until like 5 years after it's published.

Yeah, the problem is not the time it would take, but that it's impossible to have all at 99. Let's take the 'Save the Queen' for example. It's synthesize with 'Javelin' and 'Silver Gloves'. But by the time you reach the location to synthesize them, 'Javelin' and 'Silver Gloves' are no longer obtainable. You can buy 99 Javelins and 99 Silver Gloves early, but then you'd have to make a choice. 98 Javelins, 98 Silver Gloves and 1 Save the Queen ? 97 Save the Queen, 2 Silver Gloves and 2 Javelins ? and so on. The guide decided to settle for a "less arbitrary" amount, which is one equippable and one in inventory, so 2 Javelins, 3 Silver Gloves and 1 Save the Queen, which is what made the most sense to me so I followed it. For the other items, I might go for 99, still unsure. It would require hours of Chocobo Hot N Cold for the Gil and Points necessary.
Is it possible to have 99 javelins and 99 silver gloves in your inventory, and then equip 1 more of each? Or is 99 the max whether you have any equipped or not? I'm really just curious because I might bust out the old PS1 and start a sans-EII perfect run just for myself, and 50 of each of these types of items would seem "max" to me.

Indeed. By the way, the project is still alive, I just haven't worked on it in a while. There is a lot of things I do before Excalibur II that a segmented run would do post. Like Frog catching, Blue Magic, Ragtimer, picking up nearly every chest and so on. In addition to not skipping cutscenes, there are also loading times in Bizhawk that are way longer than a PS2 with Fast Disc Speed. If I had done only the necessary stuffs listed in gamefaqs, I would have got Excalibur II way before the 12 hours mark, but the total time in the end would be much longer.
Interesting. Out of curiosity, how long would it take to get 99 of all the items that you just get "max number of equippable + 1 for the inventory?" I'm assuming that it's still impossible, even if you had focused on this instead of the extra stuff you mentioned above?

Talking about close call... But, hooray, we can now move on to complete every sidequests.
Why was it such a close call? From what I understood, the perfect run (as defined by gamefaqs) should be doable non-tool-assisted. Was there extra work done before getting EII (like some of the post-EII stuff)? I do plan on watching the videos posted thus far but I figure I'll probably get a quicker answer asking.

I just finished a (not-so-great) real-time speedrun for Perfect Dark on XBLA. I never played it on N64, so I don't know if this is possible, but I was able to save a little bit of time while crawling through small spaces by un-crouching repeatedly, which speeds up Jo considerably. If I'm not mistaken, this isn't used in the currently published run (but correct me if I'm wrong!). Is it just not something that can be done on the N64?

I'm blown away by the improvements in the third level! I did miss the prior version, so I don't know how new these skips are, but congrats on a great run. Nice that you can skid on the genie tails, too. I guess by that point in the TAS I was just using Al''s right arm as an indicator for being able to skid.

Cool! I might wait for an encode though, since I haven't really been active since snes9x and I'm not familiar with Bizhawk Oh, and if the suggested screenshots are indicative of the run, I'm definitely excited! Ah, and I see the encode now. Watching...

Does anyone know how the banana clumps hidden in the ground / trees are handled by the game? Are they hard-coded into the level maps themselves, or will information about them appear in the memory watcher, so that they could be tracked as they come on screen?

I started a 100% WIP a few years ago and it never amounted to much. Runs of this game would be much better without that stupid clown boss. http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1841305293/Mr.%20Nutz%20%28U%29.smv (I'm pretty sure this is the right smv file, but I have no way of checking because the SNES emulators aren't working on my new computer for some reason)

I would still be happy to work on this game after all these years, but I still have issues with the RNG, as mentioned above. Haven't used any new emulators yet though, so it would take some getting used to.

Wow. I can't wait to see a polished TAS incorporating all these tricks. Love when stuff like this is discovered! EDIT: Hm, I wonder if it's possible to glitch out the sides of the Tube. That would make it interesting, especially if you can glitch back in

I believe the ellipses in the movie description would be better suited as m-dashes (--). Just sayin'!

I was a little disappointed that the red coin duplication glitch was used (although I respect the authors' decision), but everything else more than made up for it! Yay.

The new Trials Evolution DLC (Riders of Doom) has the single most difficult thing I've ever attempted to do in a video game, and I'm no stranger to difficult games. The Ultimate Endurance II achievement tasks the player with reaching level 15 of a series of maps randomly picked by a pool of maps: Link to video To get the other achievements in the game (including the main game and other DLC), you have to be pretty damn good. I had about 100 hours of practice and playtime before I got good enough to get some of the harder ones. This one can potentially take about 2 minutes to get if you're a SUPER PRO, but I've been practicing this same achievement for around 25 hours without much of a hint of progress in terms of how good I am. I can get to around level 10 consistently, but not much higher than that. The main problem is that it's random, and you can't effectively practice the different levels that are randomly chosen for you, so it either boils down to getting extremely lucky and getting easy maps or just having pure skill, which I guess I'm not even close to yet. Every other achievement and unlockable in this game can be done with patience and practice. Not this one.

Saturn, you decided on a scheme of goals that result in a TAS that does a great job of showing off this game. I appreciate it, and many other people will too. Thank you.
Agreed! Why not call it a "showcase" run (or something) instead of 100%? Sorry for bringing it up again, but my concern wasn't addressed.
