At 2:16 in the Eat at Joe's video, what was the purpose of punching the falling ring a bunch? I'm assuming it has something to do with camera manipulation, to make sure you didn't die by going down too fast, but I'm not totally sure.

It's a fun game, but I think it'd make for a horribly dull TAS. The only places where time can be saved are by clearing the screen of all zombies right before boss waves or right at the end of levels. The rest of the time it'd just look like a normal player was playing it, only with superhuman plant-placing speeds and optimum strategies.

After you lay the final hit on Mr. Dark, input stops before the victory dance. To actually reach the credits though (after which the game resets) you have to press A to go through a series of pictures. I think TASVideos standards require you to actually reach the credits to count as completion. Also, I didn't see any areas where death abuse could be useful (other than maybe saving a couple seconds on a couple of cages) except, of course, for skipping Mr. Sax. Apparently you don't actually have to finish his level as long as you get all the cages, which is interesting.
