I'm planning on doing a Rockman 4 Complete Works TAS so if you have any ideas of saving time, zips and new strats let me know! I tried some ideas ln Bright and Ring stages and ended to be faster than known ways!!

Looks like this movie is not very optimized, movement can be better and he doesn't use the tecnique of faster moving platforms, Rush Coil usage can be better on Bright Man Stage and boss fights with buster can be faster. I feel the zips in this game doesn't save that much time (like Mega Man 2) to do a separated category without zips. No vote for me.

First i said that the new strat i did was faster, but i didn't paused to change to star crash to do the correct comparison, and this new strat (left) ended being the same time it takes the normal strat (right), but probably a couple of frames can be saved with lag reduction using the new strat :D Link to video

Another idea, if S. Arrow usage manipulating drops it's smart from the start of the screen, it could be a potencial time save. Link to video

This is the Gravity stage improvement: Link to video I think this is faster than the published run (not sure due to S. Arrow usage later on the stage), but maybe doing Crystal Warp is the fastest way: Link to video Also i finally tried this, but it's not a time save unfortunately, i wonder if someone will find a timesave with this kind of zip: Link to video

Question regarding emulator choice out of curiosity: was there any reason for using FCEUX 2.3.0 version (at least this is not a very old one, it's released in 2021 January) ?
Not any reason in particular, i just used the one that i had on my computer, i haven't checked emulator's page for new versions.

I was able to contact Pike but that person is quite busy right now. If you have any interest or if you want to be a part of this project, feel free to do so. EDIT: I suspect that some of those objects appearing around at ~38s have something do with that skip glitch, especially the ones dropping those skull bombs. If you happen to have fm2 files I can try to ask FinalFighter to look at them.
Sorry for the late response, i submitted the .fm2 file of the Gyro Elevator skip: https://tasvideos.org/UserFiles/Info/637860299805944589 And i submitted an improvement of Stoneman Stage, there was a file posted by Glitchman before but i wanted an encode to show and watch easily so i did my own version: Link to video There are some files showing improvements for Gravity stage somewhere, gonna try to find and do encodes for that too.

I started to make a run for this game and I've been comparing my work against Pike's work.
I'm glad that an experienced TASer like you is interested on this game for a new run. I'm extremely curious about this particular skip that was found on Rockman 5: Air Sliding and replicate it on the original game, basically a deathwarp that takes you directly to the boss checkpoint. A similar skip is possible on Mega Man 5: Second Strike. The thing is that these two skips have a different circumstances. Rockman 5: Air Sliding Link to video Mega Man 5: Second Strike Link to video

EDIT: Just double checked, getting a game over + hitting continue starts you at the beginning of the game with all previously obtained items. Exactly the same as this bad ending.
For reference, this exact same thing happen if you complete the game with 8 Keys (Good Ending), it's not like this game tells you exactly that ''you didn't complete the entire game, play it again'' because this is a thing even for the original game (pressing Start at the ending you come back to the title screen).

Seems like this is very well done, but at 2:15, you wander around a small bit. On the previous submission, this does not occur. Can you give an explanation on why this was done?
This is explained on the submission as ''Door Skip Glitch'', basically that's a manipulation for the enemy to take his shoot as soon as possible to do the Glitch.

I found an 11 frame improvement due to faster Door Skip Glitch before the Final Boss: http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/64855657868887675

One posting stated that this was an improvement over the existing publication, which I do not agree. For one, it does not collect all the keys, which "True Ending" does. This can show significant time differences between the two for routing and various other strats, thus...the current publication and this submission have two different completion goals. The true ending is met by http://tasvideos.org/1336M.html.
I agree with this, this is not an improvement to the published movie since they are two different categories/goals, this is way shorter than Best Ending run.

The part that I have concern over, is something that I haven't heard from anybody else, not even in the submission text. At 4:17, the TASer slows down to jump multiple times against a platform. This will need explanation...otherwise, I would immediately recognize this to be unoptimal. This is possibly a trick for RNG manipulation, but as I have discovered in so many different games and situations, there has to be a way to minimize this.
This is explained in the submission text as ''Wrong Warp Glitch to Area 5''

Youtube Video Encode replaced with the current movie file that removes some of the unnecessary jumps. Time remains exactly the same.

I voted meh. I found all the constant jumping annoying. Is that necessary? Is jump speed faster than run speed?
Most of them are necessary, every time you are starting running, the most optimal way to reach the maximum speed as fast as possible is jumping twice facing left, this is know as Fast Acceleration. The jumps at the water section are all necessary to keep your maximum speed all the time, since walking on the water reduces your speed at half.

I like that this ROM hack has original music (how many hacks of any kind even have that?) and there were some neat things during the stages. Certainly left more of an impression on me than the last Mega Man hack Baddap1 did. Still it's difficult to beat Rockman 4 Minus Infinity which was pretty much the best Mega Man hack I've ever seen. Also, with all the Mega Man level hacks available right now, it's somewhat hard to stand out nowadays.
Yeah, this romhack is really impressive adding things of another mega man games, the run itself is not as impressive as Rockman 4 Minus Infinity, but i wanted to try something different, something that people doesn't know very well, something that in terms of romhacking is really advanced and something that is not very exploded with speedrunning like Mega Man 4 Voyage. I hope people likes this romhack and get accepted.

I found this strat a while ago that saves 16 frames over not doing a menu, you have to do a menu in the correct timing to teleport right when Breakman dissapear on the screen. I found this improvement over a year ago messing around with Rockman 3 Practice rom and i wasn't sure if this was possible in the original game but i forgot to post here, so here it is. I don't know if this is a reason to improve the published TAS but it's a little improvement anyways, here is the video: Link to video

good run, almost identical to what moth, EZgames and i were doing but one question still arises.. why on normal and not on hard difficulty? :)
Because Hard difficult only adds some enemies all over the Stages and some minibosses have more HP and it's not too different from normal mode so i decided to go for the fastest way because that's the goal of this movie.

I watched the video. Could you upload a 720p60 version with 60fps? In 30fps it looks bad because of all the 30Hz blinking effects that don't show up.
Thanks for answer and I can't submit the video at 720p60 that's why I submit with that quality

Hello, I recently decided to speedrun this relatively new romhack and I made a TAS of this game too. This is almost a completely new game with different aspects from the original Rockman 6 but the weird thing is that the game is '' incomplete '' (the creator says it is the final version). The incomplete thing is Mr. X 1 and Mr. X 4 Stages, they are only the boss fights but to reward that, Yamato and Wily 3 Stages are way longer than the rest. So based on this, do you believe that the game follow the rules of this site to be accepted? Link to video

Why do you do a TAS of a romhack that is exactly the same as the original game except for the last stage?
it's not a rom hack.
My point is why did he do a TAS of a game that is exactly the same except one stage? If it really has more different levels I would have liked to see a ''Warpless'' category, but he didn't.
