Well, referrers, cookies and those little forms where you have to write a lot of crap just to do a silly download stores a lot of information, and, you know, that information can be compiled and then sold and blah blah blah...
Nothing comes for free... you pay for stuff with your personal info, which is taken from you without your agreement.
I always block referrers, cookies and javascripts, except for a few sites, like this one. It's not any kind of paranoia... it's really a boycott, like the topic says... heheh

How does this compare to the amount of private information that one leaks simply by browsing the Web, period? With every page refresh you make, your IP address gets stored in about 20 separate logs, all of which can be used to trace your browsing habits anyway.
Referrers, on the other hand, are ways for webmasters to tell what their audience is, so that they can modify their site to suit that audience better.
