Currently, there are some talks about leaving Kokiri Forest early. While the only proof of this working uses the levitation glitch, it's worth showing some interest in. Don't get your hopes up, though. I don't really see why you would skip doing the Deku Tree first, though. You don't need anything from outside of the forest to beat it optimally.
I've extensively tried various methods for exiting Kokiri, and have used emu stuff to aid that, but I'm pretty sure its impossible via any method. The only use for getting out of Kokiri is for swordless Link and you could use the bomb/bombcu hover to skip the opening Deku Tree cutscene.

Yes, you could use Din's Fire to burn the first web in the Deku Tree, but the time needed to get Din's Fire alone outweighs the time saved. (Remember that collecting the slingshot is necessary.) There's no other practical use for Din's anywhere later in the game. AKA is right: leaving the forest early is only good for skipping long, boring cutscenes like the one where you receive the fairy ocarina.

It works something like this That invisible gap can be cleared with a sidestep. Unfortunatley no one has yet found away on the outside area as a child yet, it could be done with hover though.

Here's how you can skip the infamous block room in Shadow it saves at least 5 mins. At least now, its possible to knock 15 mins of the previous TAS without the need for the bottle adventure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hO5gZuBFmI EDIT: Alternate version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_RY5-IPxPA

That first Deku Tree cutscene where he opens his mouth is impossible to skip unless you levitate WAY up high then land right into the entrance. The cutscene even starts when the Deku Tree isn't loaded and it goes all the way along the Deku Tree.

I did work out the Shadow route ages ago in case someone figured out how to skip directly to the boat room: Shadow Temple SC 3 - Rotate the statue SC 2 - Get the Hover Boots using optimal Dead Hand strategy (saves 15s) SC 5 - Get small key from collecting silver rupees and skip to the boat (saves about 5m 40s) SC 18 - Jump off SC 20 - Get the Boss Key with DF skip SC 21 - Get to Bongo Bongo BOSS - Same strategy So in total, about six minutes could be shaved off in this dungeon using the best strategies currently known. I wish it were 15... =( I know this is no longer relevant due to Bottle Adventure, but it's still something to think about. EDIT - Fixed per post below. :) I think you can also do a superslide as you descend to Level B2. EDIT 2 - fluffy, AKA, etc. suggest that collecting silver rupees is faster than slaying the Floormaster.

I can get past the push statue/hover with a long backflip and that will eliminate putting on the boots for a little

You need the hover boots to peform the block skip. Thats why me and Acryte couldn't find it when we extensively tried to skip that room.

Maybe you can jumpslash through the gate. I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to. I don't know if it's faster though since you'll need to Hookshot the ladder.

So for this run you need to beat 1 and only 1 temple to get a madalion or something? Is that right? Why do you need to beat a temple or get the madalion? Or do you actually have to beat the boss? Can it be any temple? Could it now be faster to beat shadow instead of forest? If you could get vine skip to work for adult or get the game not to stall after beating forest as child would this work out for the route, or did I hear something like you actually need to beat the boss doing the vine skip doesn't let you do that, though AKA thinks you could still walk to the boss room (this would need to be confirmed). Could getting the bow in forest and doing the vine skip be faster than doing it the regular way? I don't think we ever got to the bottom of when the guards are at the castle or when they're not. I think we discovered that something triggered them to go away but never found out what it was. Can anyone look at the code or find the memory adress which determines if the guards are there? Or I guess just keep trying logical things and see if they're there.

I would suggest that you do a bit of research before you ask that. It does actually matter which temple is completed, due to the nature of the glitch. You cannot simply substitute another one.

Well this is my research, what's the nature of the glitch?

Well if anyone's seen the new speedrun up at SDA you see that night time came passed back into day time while he was at the castle grounds then the guards weren't there. This, transistion from night to day was suggested as the trigger which makes the guards go away but was never confirmed, this seems like the most plausible answer, perhapes someone could confirm this?

I like how after all this time, noone still has totally confirmed the trigger for the guards... just spend like an hour trying crazy different things, and someone figure it out.
