Uh… the ex-skill that upgrades the slash-dash (I suppose it has additional bonus with lightning chip cause the animation is different in that case). Dunno how to describe it further. I think I got it from one of the later bosses, while trying to find Elpizo (but before the final refights).

I'm not familiar with all ex-forms, but the dash slash usually really slows you down. If i remember correctly, all the ex-skill does is make you do a 360 slash right?

Progressing smoothly... I've finished the intermission stages and I'm in Burble Herkerot's stage... I'll post a WIP as soon as I'm done with him

Unskippable game movies are annoying, stages and Phoenix battle are interesting ^^ Protecting Ciel from enemies for 90 "seconds" made me think that MMZ2 is the wost MMZ series game in terms of TASing. *really thinks that movie would gain much in entertainment if SRAM usage was allowed -_-*

Just finished watching it. Looked great! It's not within your power but the longs cutscenes and intermissions do indeed take the speed out of the game. Anyway, i was a bit disappointed to see Ciel got hit 3 times during the protection mission! I'm sure you could've prevented the damage. Did you oversee those errors? Or could you not manage to kill them before they could shoot? (which doesn't seem likely) Either way, keep it up \o/ Watching it a second time, still love to see how you kill the bosses with the shield boomerang chasing you :D

Shield boomerang battles are the best, really.

Well... To be honest, I agree on some points with Zefiris, and I agree with you McBain, that I could avoid Ciel being hit.... THOUGH : This part is SOOOOO annoying to do and SOOOOO boring !!!!!!!!!!! I do not feel like redoing it for three shots I unfortunately miscalculated... The Shield Boomerang battles are great I agree... though since I get the charge saber I do not think it will be useful a lot at this point of the run... I'm progressing in Harpuis's level right now... Some notes : - Kuwagust and Burble are REALLY annoying to battle... The reason is that they have a lot of attacks making them impossible to combo slash... Moreover the only attack that make them vulnerable to combo slashes are also annoying : for Kuwagust he can stop the slash by inhaling zero and blocking him in its pinchers while Burble use its tongue to stick zero (that's why I place myself right on Burble in order to avoid its tongue) - I foresee a hard battle against the guardians as they have very few attacks that make them stand still on the ground (especially for Harpuia and Leviathan...) - I do not agree with Zefiris on the fact that it is the worst MMZ game for TAsing... Yes, the mid-boss of Panther Flauclaws and Ciel's protection mission are annoying though, as your weapons are not levelled up at all at the beginning of the game, I have to use rather unpredictable combination that still makes the game interesting... That's all... see you soon

Thx a lot, though my perfection is not the least bit as good as yours in your run... I'm progressing smoothly, just kicked Harpuia's ass... I'm at half of Fefnir's level... next WIP soon (probable when I'm done humiliating Leviathan...)

Here is another WIP... I've just finished the next four levels so this one ends after the battle against Leviathan... which was a real pain... Appreciate it or not but give me your comments on it

Forgot to comment on it yesterday: I liked pretty much everything that you did with the levels (I really liked how Leviathan's stage was a nice watch), but I'll admit that the fights with Harpuia and Leviathan seemed a bit untasteful. Fast, yes, maybe optimal, but still very meh. It's like the Kelverian fight in MMZ3: it's super fast, but taking so much damage leaves something to be desired.

Yeah, I know what you mean... when I watch them, I, myself, am not satisfied with those fights... But those fights are so problematic... Leviathan and Harpuia are flyers (well swimmer for the former) and I have many constraints during those fights : - I have to make them move so that it allows me to combo slash them after a charged saber - I have to prevent them from using their super attack during which they are invicible and which is super long too... By taking those points into account it's hard to make a fight look good and speedy... At least it's quite speedy... I really do not know how to do them differently...

Watched your WIP. Could you please next time give us a savestate from the point of where you continue? Fatforwarding in VBA is incredibly slow compared to the SNES and Genesis emulators, and fastforwarding to the point of where you continue almost took 10 minutes. :( Anyway, the levels looked great, but i have to admit that the fights do look sloppy. I believe better manipulation would result in a few less necessary hits... but yeah. Anyway, i'm interested in seeing more, so, keep it up. :)

I give a hint: have the frame counter showing, and make a savestate yourself near the end of the movie. voila! instant easy resuming point for the next movie.

Just to say that the next update will probably be the submission itself. Though i'll keep in mind that I have to make some savestates... I was just too lazy to make them before :P

Hey Xaphan, sorry for being silent for so long, but I haven't had much time to watch your WIP. Now that I've watched it, all I can say is...very impressive! I especially liked how you killed Harpuia and Fefnir before they could use their A/S rank attacks. Pulling off those little "taking damage to avoid deadly surfaces" tricks in Magnion's and Fefnir's stage was nice to see. Didn't know you could do that. To anyone complaining about the damage taken in the guardian battles: Sorry to say, but it's all necessary. First off, Fefnir and Harpuia will use A/S rank attacks if you let them attack more than 3-4 times. These attacks waste A LOT of time (around 10 seconds). Harpuia: If Xaphan jumped over Harpuia's head after the second charged slash, then he would be wasting the time he used hitting Harpuia. You might not realize this, but Xaphan did a very good job manipulating Harpuia into using the waves every time Harpuia was hit (Harpuia can also use an invincible dash attack). Fefnir: He actually did a very good job manipulating Fefnir. All of the other attacks Fefnir can use either involve air time (the jumping shot, the ground pound), or force you to jump over him (the dash, the triple shot). Manipulating Fefnir into using his spread shot allows Xaphan to triple slash him with ease. Leviathan: Leviathan actually uses a fixed pattern that can only be maniupulated by two things. 1. When you hit her with a charged fire attack 2. Your positioning after she attacks/after she's hit with a charged fire attack. In other words, he really can't manipulate a better Leviathan battle. The one he has already is quite fast, so I'm not complaining (honestly I'm impressed she can be killed that quickly)

Really, thank you Mike...! About Leviathan... It was hard as hell to make her do her stabbing attack so that I can combo her... unfortunately, when she touches the ground, the recoil makes her go back quickly making the last slash inefficient... So I have to get hit before I can combo her (to be placed right under her...)
