You're kicking all our framef*cking butts here :p Oh, fun fact: if you get iced as UFO, you get a white UFO (and remain white). May just be worth it the delay for the fun of it :) You'll loose it in the cutscene though.

My motivation has been absent for a couple months. But when Kirbymuncher submitted his first run of this game, it got me thinking and wanting to try things with the game I was on-again, off-again with. But honestly, I don't really have a good excuse for what I'm about to say, except that my motivation was back and I was excited about that. Since I had a few free days, I've finished this run. I haven't mentioned it because I didn't expect to actually go anywhere with it. Yesterday I was on World 2, and today I was suddenly done. I even considered just not submitting the run, but I think that that would be worse when looking at the big picture. Kirbymuncher, I hope that you are not upset, as this was not my intent at all. I can tell you are dedicated to this project and you have definitely improved since your first submission. My run is surely not flawless and if you were interested in improving it, I would have no problems with that, and I could give you the information from my run (specifically, I have an Excel file containing the times of each room's exit so you could compare an improvement run to mine). Anyway, if anyone is upset, I really am sorry. But hopefully this isn't the big deal I'm thinking it is. Edit: You can find the submission here.

It's random. I killed the same enemy multiple times with laser by scrolling it offscreen and respawning it, and got different animations. I can recall 4 kinds, which I'll try to explain with text: small stars in an X shape, a ) shape, a spiral out and in, and one which had a big star in the middle and two stars in / direction, followed by \.
I like my "thank you"s in monetary form.

I think that the previous run was improved, as it was badly in need of improvement. I'm happy that my idea was used in the final run, even if it wasn't my movie.

WTF!!! You just finish a entire run in just 2 days??? Typical JXQ again... this is not normal man! Gonna check it out. :-) PS: Thanks Kirbymuncher for discovering the UFO glitch, great job!

I got the idea when some one at SDA found that glitch with a sword and I tried it with ufo. Should I try a no-powers run?

No. The entertainment of Kirby lies in its wide variety of powers. Stripping that leaves a little. EDIT: Unless you manage to do something fun-looking, of course :)

I agree with Bisqwit, I think the more power ups the better.

Some areas with no power are interesting to watch because of sliding and keeping momentum by jumping, and dodging so many enemies. But like any type of run with this game, it will get repetitive due to the length.

Also. No powers will probably make it very frustrating. The UFO has another plus side, there's no more minor optimization by dashing of edges and stuff. That probably contributed to the sudden speed of finishing this run. You can try a 100% run muncher :)

Good idea indeed! Would love to see how one can handle the many tricky routes/power uses that are required in order to get 100%. Competing with JXQ by improving the any% is surely another option but you will go through hell to manage this since JXQ is known as one of the best and fastest TAS'er around here. :-)

Sure, I will try a 100% run. Since the first 2 worlds are the same, can I use my old video or is that not allowed?

It is allowed... but you should make sure you play every room at least as fast as JXQ did. I think JXQ was a bit faster in most of the levels, so I think you should redo most of it anyway. Maybe, you can even beat JXQ in some rooms!

Hopefully I'll manage to do that, do I really don't think so.

kirbymuncher, I have an excel spreadsheet with all my completion frames of each room, if you'd like, although it won't be directly comparable at every room if you're doing 100%. PM me if you're interested.

I'm going to guess 100% is about twice as long though. Be warned.

In 1-4 in the long vertical section, how do you do that jumping up to the next platform thing?

At a certain height below platforms like that, running into the edge of them sideways will automatically put you on top of them. You just need to make sure that you are high enough to make the trick work, and far enough to the side to not be on the platform currently. qfox: What on Earth makes you think 100% would be twice as long? I would guess 5-8 minutes longer at the most to hit all the plungers.

Some of the levels where you need a certain power to destroy special blocks, ufo can destroy the blocks with a fully charged shot.

Wild guess. Also, you need to switch skills more (like stone and hammer). Make (long) detours, that sort of stuff. Maybe not twice, but close enough. Don't underestimate the number of "secrets" in kirby :) A run of that boss-marathon-bonus would be nice as well.

I could make a run of the boss thing right now, if you want.

There is a boss marathon movie here, although it is nowhere near perfect, I just wanted to see what it would be like. This one uses mike, which is probably slower than ufo, but I don't really care.

There's no way that hitting all the plungers will take more than 10 minutes more than the normal run when optimized. UFO can use laser to light the cannons, and can use the double star to break through most of the blocks. There will be more switching for sure, but close to 36 more minutes? No way.
