I'll be offline a week, so I'll watch this later. But I imagine the improvement will be done by then?

I doubt it. Well, maybe. I have next week off. But it should take a while. I did finish the hammer run, though, and I'm happy with the results.

Inz, Here is the WIP I mentioned to you a couple days ago. Maybe, it will help you in those few parts you were having a bit of problems? Click Here

Yeah, cool man, cool. That solution for the Jump cave is definately better than what I came up with. I'm not sure why, but my enemy group afterwards is a bit different from yours. But that still works. Definately worth the price of admission, thanks ;D edit: On closer inspection, it seems that my wait is still 4 frames slower. My best guess is that not getting the first jar right away changed the timing. The most obvious question this raises is when is the best time to get the jar, then? I don't *think* you even need it until after Palace 3. Or further, will a shorter or longer name change the enemy formation as well?

Up to Palace 4 I have been unable to find a way to kill the blue stalfos' in the small holes in palace 4 without slowing down. Therefore, I'm going to go back to the cave with the kid and redo everything from there. I'll kill the lizalfos in there and skip one of those stalfos. Should be faster. Plus I'll try to find out what happened to those 20-odd frames I lost going to and from the town. But I spent an embarassing amount of time on that section already. enjoy.

Gonna be a pleasure watching your WIP for the first time. May I ask how much you have gained so far?

I noticed something with a daira back at the hammer cave that might save like five frames if you want to redo everything :P Otherwise it looks pretty much perfect so far. I supersped through overworld movements and town and stuff. But I trust those, yeah. Make sure to kill some Lizard guys on the way to palace six to set up the 6 count. Have it drop from one of the red knights in the room they're in, don't waste time grabbing that out of the way jar I did in my run. This alone will save three seconds.

1361 frames, as of the exit of Palace 5. Short of a major route overhaul, I'm not sure how much else can be saved.

ugh. No thanks :( We'll save that one for next time ;) And I'll keep that in mind for palace 6. Maybe I can skip that reflect cast. Come to think of it, maybe I can skip the orange knight in palace 5 and use fairy on the elevator in stead. I haven't looked too closely at the 6 count in palace 6 yet. edit: It is possible to skip all the above mentioned, but it seems the only way to kill the red lizalfos is to slow down. Therefore, killing one to get the drop for palace 6 = in. Killing another to skip the orange knight in palace five = out. And thanks, Serj. :D

You probably could skip that guy, but you'll have to kill an extra lizard dude on the way to or from kasuto (in the cave). This might cost frames due to the un-even-ness of the ground, so you may want to kill the ironknuckle anyway. Fairie's not more than 4 or 5 frames faster than just walking off the elevator anyway, and I think you may lose more to kill the lizard guys (because of the un-even-ness). Just test a bit and see what would be faster.

Cool, nearly half a minute faster. As far as the route goes, I'm just about entirely convinced this is the fastest one. Short of only levelling magic, but that means later bosses will take forever to kill, and the time lost on them likely would surpass the time saved from avoiding pretty much everything else.

We came to the same conclusion at the same time, it seems :D I'll take that as a good sign.

Quick feedback: It looks very solid Inzult, you will be done in no time :) Really liked how quickly you kill certain enemies.

Awesome. This means I'll probably be able to submit it tomorrow (dun dun dun). Time to start thinking of what to write for the submission text. A list of known improvements, maybe? :P

Nahh, we already know those. Definately explain the new technique you found, and some of the less obvious, but major, improvements over mine own.

Can't wait to see it. I don't mean to ask a silly question, but since the thread has gotten quite long it's a bit of a pain to look back through the past to get all the details. Is this a 100% of items collected run, or is it "collect the bare minimum needed to beat the game?". In addition, is the up+A cheat used to restart or is it completed without that cheat? Thanks.

It has been submitted, as Serj said. You can (will!) see it in the Workbench forum. It collects the bare minimum of items. Up+a is used. Left+right, jump+fairy and that weird town glitch (whatever it is, I don't even really understand it) are not used.

what's jump+fairy and town glitch? I'm glad left+right wasn't used so I'm guessing those other two are along the same lines of weird.

They're both extremely peculiar warping glitches as well.

Althouhg the following question is not TAS related as would not improve a run.. does anyone know how to get link to a glitch level 9 attack? Many years ago i remember even playing on the console levelling up to a level 9 attack expecting to just recieve an extra life because all my levels were at the max of 8... I did this and i am 100% sure of this. Was delighted as I confirmed link was stronger than the level 8 attack also After beating the game, and restarting again with my 9 attack 8 magic 8 life, I could kill the the palace 1 boss in one hit where level 8 attack normally kills him in two. Maybe i was just levelling up in the right place at the right time? im sure i didnt press any weird combo on the controller either... maybe someone can rip the rom up and find out? Still to this day i dont know how i did it and havent been able to find on the internet how it can be done.

Sounds like a crooked-cart style glitch. I've picked up more jars than you are supposed to be able to get in the past. I ended up with just 1 bar of magic. Made the game impossible.
