I'd been creating a speed/perfection video for the game Mortal Kombat with the blood code on, without receiving damage, and on the hardest skill level. Well, I'm Sub-Zero, fighting against Raiden, and I'd done a quick save, after attacking him, but he then attacked me, obviously, causing damage to myself, and there's no way out of it. So, what I'd done (which I'd thought was possible) was to play the movie back, and had saved it from the time before I'd attacked him, so that I could use a different attack. Unfortunately, when I'd loaded that save point in the movie, it wouldn't re-record, as it would have in the NES emulator Famtasia 5.1. Is there a way to have it work like Famtasia 5.1? Obviously, as of now, if there's no way to re-record a movie if you'd screwed up on the save point, or if you'd want to finish the movie during the next day, then you'd have to play through the whole thing, and just pause it for lunch breaks or before you go to bed, which is quite pathetic. I am using the Genesis emulator Gens 9.0 Test.

That's why you should have more than one savestate active always! I don't know if there's anyway out of it since I've never tried the emulator.

Tip.. Fast wind in your movie and when you are get where you did the misstake, press ESC and then go to the menu and choose "Resume record from now" And you can continue from there.

Here's another way : Play your movie and quicksave where you want to rerecord. Then use Resume record from savestate.

watchin back through my video i've seen places that i could improve. Can i re-record those parts without deleting or affecting what came after?

No, the frame you recording currently is officially the last frame of your movie. If you rerecord an earlier point, all further progress is lost. Besides, what you do in those parts will most likely affect everything that will come after them. You can try altering the movie by hexediting, but I'd not count on that. This is also covered in the FAQ, you know.

Use the very latest version from Upthorn's topic. This is what I do: - One savestate at beginning of level - One savestate saved at convenient moments Then, if I mess up, I load the latter savestate. If it's impossible to continue, I play the movie from start in read-only mode, load the former savestate, play up to the point I can continue from, save the latter savestate, play the movie not in read only mode, then load the latter savestate.

It looks like he linked to the correct post, and it says "Posted: 2006-06-22"...

I meant the post by BiroZombie. Bobxp's advice to him is late by more than two years.

Haha, sorry, never meant to dig up old coffins. Yeah, and i knew about the Hexediting but i didn't trust myself with it. Just asking if there was another way. Anyways, it's a negligible change to be made.
