Yes, they were talking about Wind Waker, not Majora's Mask.
At least he's not needed to beat the game in this one... *grumbles at him taking forever to decipher charts in Windwaker*
Ohhh, you are SO wrong.
If you want to beat the game 100%, you need to take a photo of him for a heart-piece.
And in a speedrun/TAS the photo would probably be an upskirt photo... ;)
Weren't there other things you could take pictures of to get that heart piece, though?
Maybe. My memory is fuzzy. A big-octo picture gets you something good, I'm not sure if it's a heart-piece, or just rupees... Anyways, tingle is everywhere, so its probably faster to snap a photo of him than do some other stuff.
It seems that every Zelda game has one really annoying character. In Majora's Mask, it's Tingle. In Ocarina, it's that damn owl.
Sure, Tingle's really fruity and visually pain-inflicting, but at least he doesn't show up in twenty unavoidable unskippable dialogues, saying "Wow, you sure can travel through time."
Some of the NPCs need to be more like the 1-dimensional characters in the NES Zelda games, saying only "I am Error." and "Buy somethin' will ya?"
Tingle and the Deku King are, to my knowledge, the only pictures for that heart piece.
Anyways, I think I am going to be skipping the Goron Mask. Of course, this means no Gilded Sword, which in turn means no Giant's Mask, which makes Twinmold interesting, to say the least. Route still being worked on.

I don't want to see any time wasted through sake of being more entertaining. I couldn't be certain if the Goron Mask is worth skipping. Instead of testing you'll have to have a good long think about it and test how quickly you can do Goron sections as Link compared to what a Goron can do and then you'll have to check how long it takes to get the mask itself. This could simply be done by watching previous speedruns.

Correct me if Im wrong but you need the Goron Mask to fight against certain bosses. Of course, you dont need it but the fights would be faster with it. Am I correct?

If you are refering to Goht then no it actually slower to use Goron Mask against him, You simply fire a string of arrows at him from a distance.

You can use quick spins for Odolwa (in fact, they're actually faster than Goron punches by a few seconds) and regular arrows for Goht. No Goron Mask needed.
Also, I don't see how "jungle warrior" implies being African.
His garb looks rather African, which is what I assume he made that decision on. Also, Africa is where most jungle warriors are, anyway.
But back to the point. Not getting the goron mask is a very difficult decision. I'm currently trying to work out the route in the event that I do. Once I've worked that out, then I can decide and start the TAS.
