Maybe an all-medallion run would be better. I don't really see a point in collecting every skulltula or every heart-piece.

I absolutely agree with you. We have now a 2,5 temple run so we now need as you said a all-medallion run and finally a 100% run. Same goes for Majorask Mask although I have not followed closely the discussion at SDA if we can skip any temple.

It would simply be quicker to back run; whip out a bomb; shield drop and then do a superslide, which was something that Guano never took advantage of in his run.
How much time would this save in the current TAS? Is there a video of using this to cross something regular like Hyrule field? Do you need the hover boots?

You do not need the hover boots to do the super slide.

Yeah, that true, a all medallion would be really nice to watch.

Its funny, before I started this, I never knew you could initiate the rainbow bridge cutscene with just the 2 medallions. Also, with the bottle/light arrows trick, how much time could this shave off with all the running around you have to do it make it work?

So what will the next "anything goes" run utilize? Is the path posted anywhere?

Are you getting Light Arrows on B by stealing the fishing rod, or on C< by grabbing the bomb bag as an adult?

First one, didn't know there was a second method.

Grabbing the Bomb Bag as an adult glitches the bag into acting like a different item (and overwrites your bombchus); I haven't tried to get light arrows that way but it may be possible. EDIT:Ask Acryte.

Grrr.. Mupen is annoying I can't get it to resume recording. I thought that if you loaded a savestate and changed it to a read+write file then you would be able to resume recording. However I did figure out near enough the best coordinates for escaping Link house, although when you turn and roll is entirley up to you to figure out The coordinates are -100,-65 AND -116,-26 This is with the new 0.6 TAS plugin of course.

I think you must be doing something in the wrong order. 1. Play movie with "read only" OFF. 2. BEFORE the movie ends, pause the emulator. 3. Save a savestate. 4. Load that savestate. 5. Unpause the emulator. Alternatively, you can load a savestate in read-only mode and then switch read-only off in the menu, to replace step #1 above if you don't want to watch the whole movie from the beginning. Or even better, skip steps #1 and #3 if you already have a savestate where you want to resume from.

You can even leave read only on to get a savestate.

I'm starting to get the hang of it now although not fully. From what I understand. 1. Record new movie and make a savestate just as Link is about to jump out of bed by pressing shift+F1 2. Play until you wish to re-record 3. Change to read only using shift+8 4. Load the savestate using F1 5. When you want to resume recording press shift+8 to get it to change to read+write 6. Continuously loop steps 2-5 Is that about right I had ago at it and I got as far as backwalking into the first two ruppees, but I wasn't at an obtuse enough angle to backflip onto the platform directily behind which meant I had to go all the way back to the balcony. Its a shame that the previous input isn't shown on the new 0.6 plugin as it would make ajustments far easier espeacially since there way back. I do think thats an incredibly tedious process since you could quite easily accidently wipe everything off with a savestate.

It seems likely that it's fake, since that would be reasonably easy to do with a Gameshark, and no one else has been able to replicate what sounds like a simple procedure...

Well, it's more like record until you want to stop, make a save state, then when you want to record again, play the movie with READ ONLY NOT CHECKED. Then load the save state.

I had a go at recording a short movie with the 0.6 plugin (refer to N64 emu topic if you want it). You'll need it if you want to view this file. I tried to at the very least get a near optimal result to the tunnel. Which is roughly 3 seconds quicker than Guano, but I couldn't get the line up correct so I could get 9 ruppees and be a quick turn away from the tunnel. I tried to sword spin at the end of the movie. Tell me if it desyncs, it should end with Link running towards the tunnel and cutting back in again on the left. I still belive that the tunnel could be reached 0.5 seconds quicker. The hardest bit I found was lining up the blind backwalks and sidehops. Here it is anyway. Guano could also use it as something to beat in the next run. http://rapidshare.de/files/29614858/THE_LEGEND_OF_ZELDA__USA_.m64.html

Amazingly enough, that played fine without desync (unlike all other recordings posted here, for me), unless you weren't supposed to hit that fence near the end before doing the sword spin. The minimum input I've found for the sword spin is quite simple and can be done easily with a keyboard, something like this: - Right for 1 frame (which is 3 frames of input in this game) - Down for 1 frame - Left for 1 frame - Up + B It works CW or CCW from any initial direction. I used 100% tilt for the directions.

That shouldn't actually be true, but it's recommended to avoid desync caused by people forgetting to turn off Raw Data of other input plugins or possible other related problems with those plugins.

The boulder area could use more optimization. You should definitely use frame advance when side hopping, so that you jump as soon as you land. There was at least one sidehop more than needed in the boulder area.
