Hello. I was thinking that an interesting movie to do would be a "Village to Megaopolis" run of this game. I know it's not an overly familiar game to a lot of people, but I think it would be very interesting to see how exactly the different units are placed for the greatest efficency, and the fastest possible town growth. Something to think about, at least.

I'm interested in your proposal and wish to read your pamphlet. Will the city be horribly destroyed in the end by monsters and earthquakes? Can't make the largest city possible without ending on a catastrophic note, right? o.ov

that'd be brilliant- I believe the super nintendo version was especially quirky compared to ones on other systems, including that wacky green haired guy and so many rewards.

Maybe there should be competition for doing as fast as possible some scenarios in the game?

This has got to be one of the most unexpected time attack ideas, but it should make for an interesting movie. I don't think $999,999 is a glitch, but a cheat. It would definitely speed things up, but if I remember correctly it takes a year of game-time to get it to work. I'm for using the money cheat because it would make the movie more fast-paced and it would allow you to be constantly building something. Without the cheat, the player may have to wait around for things to happen or to accumulate cash.

I've been suggesting a SimCity speed run to many speed runners, but no one's ever actually said they'd do one, heh. Also, the money thing is a glitch, but it's still kinda cheating.

I think this cheat should be allowed.

I agree with bisqwit: this money cheat will bring a more fast-paced run.. and since that game isn't a bunch of action, without it, a movie might get boring. !

I'd attempt it. Anyone have any suggestions as to which one to do?

No, it actually is a glitch. Sim City doesn't take negative amounts of cash into consideration, so a negative number to it is just a really big number. Hence the maxed out cash. The method used to feed the game a negative amount of cash is a glitch as well.

Definately the $999,999 glitched one. SimCity can become excruciatingly boring when your money runs out. Plus, you are constantly at work (Like Deviance said) I'd go for 100% completion (Unlocking the Artistic view and the Bank, having a Megatropolis, and watching as it is destroyed by Tornadoes, Plane Crashes, Flooding (Thought you might want to use the More Land special building to make the entire place land, and clear it of forestway...basically have the entire thing covered) and Bowser...

Is there an ending? If so it should be that way. All I know, I remember to manage a Megalopolis at ~540 000 people and they are happy at 85% with my job.

Only the 'Scenario' sub-games actually ended, if I recall correctly. The main game continued until you were bankrupt. Heh, that would be an interesting movie.... 'The Rise and Fall of Some Random SimCity.'

I don't think there is an ending, just a screen saying congrats for making a Megalopolis (which is indeed a very difficult task.)

It's ok to destroy the City but it must beat the current record to create a Megalopolis as fast as possible in years and month. I don't know what's the world record. Someone can find it?

For the megalopolis building.. Would this be done on a random map or on the scenario map for megalopolis (the all-flatland with the Mario head forest)?
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

That would depend on if you could still get rewards; however, I think it would still be best if it was done on a new map. Here is a FAQ with some good Area placement information.

That glitch you use for money making, can also be used to beet the nuclear meltdown scenario, and have it beaten without a nuclear melt down ever happening. In case it hasn't been figured out yet, holding down L & R stops the internal timer for the game, which is used more or less for pretty much everything, including timed disaster events. The other thing that is true about a nuclear meltdown in the game, is if the plant that is destined to blow up is bulldozed before it blows up, then the next plant in the internal list gets blown up instead, if there is another one in the city. If all of the nuclear plants get bulldozed though, then when the disaster timer expires, and it doesn't find a nuclear plant to blow up, no nuclear explosions will happen. As for the flooding scenario, replace all of the shorelines with parks, and flooding should never happen. With the torando, bowser, and earthquake scenarios, you cannot stop those events from ever happening, they will happen, and the obvious solution for the crime scenario, is police departments.

I remember beating all scenarios except one and then the file was erased. I remember this game was much fun. I think making a video like this will make me remember what I remember. Wait.

Never beat that one. Also never did have success building a city with a population of 500,000.
