Thanks to all who gave me encouraging words as well as criticisms. Each and every comment is taken seriously and will be taken into account in the next run. I'll spend the next few days studying the game mechanics more closely to understand the "randomness" of bosses. Now I need to stay away from the boards for a few days, as essays and presentations are piling up on my desk. --Woody

Do you want a detailed criticism or is what I've said enough?

The mmx woodball smv file works perfectly, except when Zero "dies" and u have to fight Vile (Before the spider u know).. When I wach it u die at Vile.. What is the problem? Do i have the wrong rom? If someone has the right rom so please send it to me! My rom is named MMX1.smc and I use Snes9x v 1.43.. :/

He's using Mega Man X v 1.1, not 1 or 1.0 It worked perfectly for me, nice job.

Bring it on, every little thing. If not for me, then for other players who would ask the same questions. Any advice to patterns of bosses would be greatly appreciated. (Except Spark Mandrill and Flame Mammoth, of which I either don't care or figured out already.) My goal is to make Bisqwit's review of the movie all positive! Gotta get back to work now. --Woody

Speaking of Spark Mandriller, that was one of my problems. You locked his movement down, but his invincibility cycle and freeze cycle aren't linked - you can kill him much quicker than you do. You only exploit this once, near the end of the battle, and poorly. I'll find the right ROM, then watch the whole thing and give a detailed critique.

I actually do exploit this later in Sigma 3. I, unfortunately, forgot about this while doing the first Spark Mandrill boss.

Bisqwit, Is the auto-generated table of what needs seeding still in existance anywhere so people know what to seed? ANGERFIST, You're totally wrong, sorry. Rockman X may have been released shortly after Rockman 6, but Rockman 7 is a completely different game. X began a new series which happens about 100 years after the original series.

..if by 'similar' you mean 'incredibly hard unless you know the secret', then yeah. 7's Wily is the hardest boss in the entire original series. I think X's finl Sigma is the ahrdest of the Sigmas, too, provided you don't use Rolling Shield on him.. but then again I haven't played X3, which apparently has a harder one.

I just watched the movie from http://tasvideos.org/movies.cgi?id=120 I enjoyed it and also noticed a number of things. Right before vile in the first Sigma area, you climb to the top of the ladder and wait for Zero and vile to talk. There is a bug that lets you skip this. When near the top of the ladder, jump off, then wall jump off of the side of the ladder to the wall, then wall jump to the other side of the room and fall into the door without touching the ground, which is what activates the sequence. I can make a ZSNES movie of this, if you like. A number of times in the movie, you use the storm eagle weapon, then wait for it to go forwards and kill the enemies when X's normal weapon would kill them faster so you would not have to wait. For fighting bosses, I noticed that you used very different strategies between the first and second encounter, usually with one being noticably faster. Since in making these movies, you know the immediate future, you should take advantage of that to make sure that the bosses get hit right when they become vulnerable. There was a similar comment earlier in the thread. For Boomer Kuwanger, your missile wanders around and wastes time, similarly, for Mandrill, the first time you do freeze, refreeze, but the second time, you do freeze, hit, refreeze. It is good to have variation, but not when it affects time. A place that could have been done a little differently is Armadillo. You could have had some shots above his head and he got hurt from the shot coming down, instead of shooting him directly. In many places, you choose to climb the ladder instead of wall jumping. Are you sure that way is faster? For a tools-assisted movie, it is odd to use invincibility that much. It seems to detract from the movie. Are you sure that you need to do that to save time? Thank you for making an entertaining movie!

I've been waiting to see this since the ability to re-record in an SNES emulator came about. Yippie. :) Anything I might want to point out about the video seems to have already been mentioned, so I won't bother with that. It looks fantastic, and I am very much anticipating an even faster video. One note to Bisqwit, though: The "Takes damage to save time" descriptor is incorrect for this video. It should be something along the lines of "Takes damage necessary to advance," since the two fights with Vile require you to take damage in order to end them.

Bisqwit wrote about the megaman x movie "So here's a character called X going through all the troubles created by Dr. Wily just like in all the previous games of the serie :)" It's not Dr.Wily, it's Sigma in the X games.

Yeah, this game's about the reborn Mega Man in his 10th adventure, having just finished partnering with his war buddy Bass in Mega Man 9, of which he fought the dastardly Rock Monster once more.

That can be under debate. Play X2, X4, X5 (X6 if you consider it canon).

Remember that dashing gives you a +1 bonus to your X-Buster. The Icy Penguigo fight can be improved. The Storm Eagleed fight can be improved. The Burnin' Noumander level and fight can be improved. The Spark Mandriller level can be improved. The fight can be improved dramatically. Why all the weapon switching in Armor Armage's level? I'm not convinced that Storm Tornado is the best weapon to use against Anglerge. Is it faster than Electric Spark? You absolutely do NOT kill Utuboros the fastest way. Fire a bitabove him and from behind and he dies in a single Storm Tornado, exploding before he even gets fully out of the ground. I have no idea if Launcher Octopuld can be beaten faster without quite a bit of luck. You lose time on ladders in Boomer Kuwanger's level. Also, the fight with him can be dramatically improved. The fight with Sting Chameleao can be improved. Skip the first cutscene in Sigma 1. Icy Penguigo in Sigma 2 cn be improved. ..you use charged Chameleon Sting here when you can be just as fast (and more interesting) without it. Nice battle with Lambda Bambda! ..again, why do you use charged Chameleon Sting? Why not at least use charged Rolling Shield occasionally if you're going to use one of them at all? D-REX can be improved. Velguader and both Sigmas can probably be improved slightly. ..also, end the movie when the textbox starts to close, not when you appear on the cliff.

Okay, there WAS something I forgot to mention. It is much, much faster to use the Electric Spark on that thing.

i have to agree with boco on a few points. 1.)chill penguin can be killed a bit faster. try being up the top of part of the area for when he jumps up there for his blizzard attack 2.) spark mandril can be killed rather quickly with the right timing of chill penguins weapon (cant remember its name) may not freeze him, but it still connects with him 3.) places where you are required to lose an amount of energy before an event is triggered, perhaps try to be "inside" the boss at all times so the instant you can be hit, you do. 4.) boomer kawanger (spelling?) can be killed faster but can be very annoying due to wandering, slow torpedos and boomers phase move. try to make it so you are right next to where he spawns

That actually isn't the fastest way. If you notice, I do run into Vile in the beginning, but it took off 1 or 2 bars. The punch took off 3 to 4 bars. It's faster to get punched twice than it is to crash into Vile 6 times. Will start run version 2 Tuesday afternoon. --Woody

ah ok good point. i did'nt notice that. mabye this is true for the same senario in diffrent places. only problem i see is that getting the boss to punch/attack you could be rather annoying, as they do have a bit of a random factor with their attacks

If you stand directly in front of Vile while he's in the ride armor, chances are very, very good that he's going to punch you.
