Great work on the run Invoker. Im watching it right now.
But I think you should use the re-record to more to correct errors/mistakes and go for some speed.
For example when you are trying to get the X-buster upgrade.
I.e:
Dont try to get hit(unless it save times)
Let the dash be you friend. Dont dubbel click(I cab see that you using it) use the dash button instead :)
And do not bother about the enemies(unless they are in you way :)
Maybe im wrong but, do you use the start button at the subtiles/text? It goes faster ;)
I just finish my second timeattack run om MMX which is 3 min and 34 second faster then my first attempt. :)
But I dont go for any powerups and no hits taken.
Otherwise.. Awesome work with your run, indeed.
Keep the spirit and countinue with the good work.
Now I shall countinue to watch you run :)

When i first recorded this run, it was garbled and out if sync. Next attempt was not at all what I had done when playing. Third, likewise. Something was really messed up. I had to re-configure the game-pad on several occasions and even after that it just wouldn't work. I ended up re-installing Snes9x and after a few minutes of tinkering with settings and so forth it was working the way I wanted it to.
Also, this is the run on Mega Man X I am actually satisfied with ... for now. ;) It was like the tenth attempt or something. There is room for plenty of improvement but I'll do them some other day. Right now, I'm sick and tired of looking at Mega Man and all cronies that try to stop him ;p
So the start button works on the in-game text? Huh.. I'll keep that in mind.
I kept the "no-hit unless necessary" in mind but on the Sigma stages, I was way too tired and just didn't give a damn. But there is much improvement to be done there, as well.
Also, the Launch Octopus. I REALLY dislike the dude. I've tried, time and again, not getting hit by him but it just isn't going to happen. The best I can do is minimize the damage I actually take from him since he's the fasted of all the bosses when it comes to shooting.
Let me know when you've finished MMX2. :) I really enjoyed seeing you blaze through the stages.
And finally: Is it just me or is MMX2 done a bit sloppy? Seems like the ideas that hatched MMX were gone and replaced with mind-numbing "something else."

To me it's the same blue dude with the arm cannon running around blasting other robots into chunky kibbles ;)
Also, I made a new attempt on MMX. It's a bit faster than my previous one. I know what I did wrong and how I can improve it, so nyah! ;p (although, more pointers on what parts I might optimize are accepted. ;))

The Hadoken-attack? That would slow me down, considerably while trying to get it. In my opinion, getting it would be a 101%. Also, I think it's lame ;)

Hey again everyone. I spent the last 3 days working on a minimalist run. Invoker, you should look at my Chill Pengiun and Prologue stages, because neither of these stages have upgrades. (Well, expect the 2nd half of Penguin, anyway)
My time from Capcom Screen to Final Shot was 34:30.
Here's my run.

If you guys approve, I will submit this as Version 1 to Bisqwit.

EDIT: I made a lot of mistakes here, and I have a few questions.
1. Is it worth it to chop off Launch Octopus' arms with Boomer Cutter during Sigma?
2. Which is faster going up walls, normal kick jump, or dash kick jump? I could really tell...
EDIT 2: It's Megaman X V 1.1

Just watched your run. Impressive.
I know there aren't any upgrades on Prologue stage (Highway) and the first half of Chill Penguin.
1. It could be. If it means he'll stop shooting those piranhas it would make the battle much easier. If not, then does it really matter?
2. I'd say it depends. But normally, Dash Kick Jump is a bit faster.

Invoker: The Hadoken allows you to kill everything, even the bosses, Sigma and his dog in a single shot.

Invoker:
I didn't watch your movie, but I read the TXT file. I can beat your time without rerecords. Also, Death Rogumer is the name of the Irregular Hunters' airship and is where you fight Storm Eagleed. It crashes into Spark Mandriller's level, knocking out the power, but the miniboss of Spark Mandriller's level is Thunder Slimer.
Wodball:
When I watched your run it desynched during the battle with Vava after Zero sacrifices himself (maybe I am using the 1.0 ROM). What I saw up until then looked good but there was room for improvement (a few seconds, tops) in some of your boss and miniboss battles. You did a lot of really nice work, especially on Eagleed's level and the first Sigma stage, though!
The route you took is the one I use for 100%.. but is it the fastest for any%?
By the way, either my system isn't configured for SNES9x right or SNES9x has a very inaccurate sound emulation. Many sound effects were missing, incomplete, or different in SNES9x compared to a real SFam or to zSNES.

Can this topic be split into a topic for X2 and a topic for the original X?

Yeah, well, the first and second movies weren't all that good but I'm getting there. Also, if you are quite skilled on this game, why don't you give it a shot?
I stand corrected.

Invoker, I did a bit of searching on the web.
I read one site which suggested a very fast way to get the hadoken. I have not had a chance to test it though.
Start the stage, then use the exit thingy to leave. Come back and leave again, do it 5 times or so. Then procede to the end and get the item, no time wasted dying :)

I'd like a confirmation of that working and might try it myself tonight, but I think you have to reach the cliff (in which case you just fall in and repeat the last little bit of the level again).
It's 5 times total and it's counted from reset.. so the one time you go through the level normally also counts.

As I said I've had no time to test it, and awaiting for someone else to ;)

Boco,
The reason I did Storm Eagle second was because I need the tornado weapon to kill the Spark Mandrill Miniboss. If you use the X-buster, you'd be lucky to kill him in 50 seconds. With Storm Tornado, I need 5 shots, and about 15 seconds worth. (Although I did take longer because I fear the bubble thingys...)
Also, if your video also desyncs with Invoker's video, then it is indeed your ROM. Neither of those two desynced for me, and I'm using 1.1.
So, if there are no objections, this will be my baseline version 1... I will try again next week to go for at least a 20 second improvement. (Yes, I already found at least 20 seconds of mistakes!)
Also, I recorded in Windows, which has this annoying restriction about how many buttons can be pressed simultaneously. When I charge up Chamelon's weapon, I have to sacrifice at least 2 seconds of dashing. Watch Sigma 3 for details. I kinda get out of it in Sigma 1 by using the springs. (I don't think I jump once in that laser detection area.)
Also, bosses need to be optimized. Boomer Kuwanger is too slow, and the time for missles needs to be cut down. I need to manipulate Launch Octopus to stop using the Energy Drain attack, but I will not resort to chopping his arms off. (It takes 3 shots, which means I lose more parts of damage via Rolling Shield.) Flame Mammoth is also a little bit tricky. I need to make sure that he gets hit twice by each tornado, and that he doesn't reverse the conveyor belt in Sigma 3. (Watch Invoker's run on why!)
Anyway, more beratings after submission.

Also, if you can, try to make the Bospider move horizontally as little as possible. I'm certain that the path it takes is randomly generated and it wastes time the more times it has to move horizontally.
Also, I recorded in Windows, which has this annoying restriction about how many buttons can be pressed simultaneously.
I had the same problem, but after switching my keyboard configuration the problem was solved. I used to have A, S, D, and W for movement, J for the X-buster, and K for jumping. But when I switched J to L and K to ";" I was able to press more buttons at the same time. So by leaving one as a letter key and switching the other to a non-letter key, everything worked out fine.
That could take some getting used to. I was one of the earliest emulator users and I still use the default layout of SNES9x 0.20 and NLKSNES. (Didn't think I was that old, huh?)
I guess it's time to change, huh?

EDIT: It's submitted. Keep up the criticisms. Seriously, I will need them in order to make a sub 34 min finish.

I'll give it a shot later this day. I'm currently busy with other things of higher priority.

If you already know mistakes in your video and you intend to create a new version,
PLEASE at least STATE SO in the submission entry so the movie managers don't have
to waste time doing useless work processing a movie that will be obsoleted right away.
I believe you shouldn't submit movies if you know that you have made mistakes. Save states are to make perfection, right? Then make the movie "perfect" before submitting!
