Here is a replay of me beating 7 computers on the map "Scorpion Ravine", using Terran. I chose this map because it has narrow chokepoints, making my tank defense much more effective. http://mint.aaanime.net/sc/1v7c%20Scorpion%20return.rep I'm not sure what the elapsed time is. When I played it on "Fast" speed, the time came out to be ~1:15, but when I watched the replay on "Fastest" speed, it was under an hour. I wonder if I can win faster by using more marines/tanks instead of battlecruisers, and attacking multiple bases simultaneously. My army was maxed out at 200 supply, and for the same amount of supply, marines/tanks do more damage. I'm not very good at multitasking in Starcraft though. Maybe I could pull it off if I played at Slowest speed. Thoughts?

I'm going to watch this right now. If it's cool, I'll make an AVI of it to those that want it. :) Though it's much more awesome if you were to record an AVI of the actual gameplay so we can see your micro skills.

mm.. what's .rep file? Not that it matters much anymore since Onega has promised to make and .avi of this. But I'd really like to know, to raise my knowledge ;)
Which run should I encode next? :)

If you have Starcraft installed, you can watch it using "Load Replay". If you don't have Starcraft, you can't watch .rep files.

When fighting computers battlecruisers are awesome for slaughtering bases and units fast. They have the disadvantage that they are slow to get though, and you'll need quite many to make heavy damage. So my guess is, without having watched your replay, that battlecruisers are slower than tanks/goliaths/whatever in most situations because it takes to long to get many of them. They are still great though but they should be made in late-game in my opinion.

I haven't watched, this, but is it a Melee (Everyone attacks you) or a Free For All (Everyone attacks each other) game? I've beaten 1v7c Free For All games many times, but I'd find a Melee victory to be extremely impressive.

It's a Melee (everyone attacks me).

Quick question on that replay....Why did none of the computer Terran ever send siege tanks? I've tried doing a 7v1 melee like this and I play as terran and fortify my base similar to yours but its always demolished once the computer terran bring siege tanks. Why didn't this happen on yours (siege tanks at the beginning, all they sent was infantry)? Was it on a lower difficulty or something.

I'm not sure why they didn't send tanks... There is no way to set the difficulty level in a melee game anyway, is there?

Im not sure, I havn't played in a long time. I liked the replay though. Although to me, I find it would be more stellar and much harder if there weren't just one entrance through a bridge to your base.

Well the truth is, if there were two entrances, I'd lose, lol.

I don't think you can really do a TAS in starcraft ? Lots of map is only 1 entrance to the main base, 2 for the expand or open field.

I don't mean to be a put-down.. TT sorry In most serious starcraft communities it's considered reasonably basic to beat computers 1v7 on first try (usually chosen map is hunters). Reasonably basic means obtain at least a C- rank on http://pgtour.net. Everyone plays of course on Fastest game speed, as this is the speed people learn to play the game at when they first sign in on battle.net (everyone there is impatient lol). When people get used to it playing at slower speeds is extremely frustrating :P (everyone becomes impatient lol). You've got a little bit of "TAS" in starcraft :D playing in single player with black sheep wall (reveal everything), pausing, and slowmotion through the speed control in options. I'd love to play you guys, by the way, I didn't expect to see starcraft here (the pc version, I mean).

You should come to the IRC channel. I'm almost always up for playing Starcraft with someone at or around 1 or 2 am PST. However, you have any experience, you'll probably beat me. My APM only peaks at around 70 :P:P

What version of SC is that on? Whenever I try to play the rep you just die in 10 seconds. On another note, I played on Fastest on The Hunters Gamei 1v7 melee last night to try and do the same thing you did and I won in about an hour. Mass tanks + turrets.

The topic says "Starcraft 1v7c". It could be 1.(0*)7c or something like that, try that one. *If they do it like that.

No, 1v7c means one human versus 7 computers, the latest version of starcraft is 1.13f but it doesn't seem to work on mine.

Desync; comps rape the player and run around aimlessly for an hour.

err lol im a veteran sc player.. APM 200~ Nothing is idle. i build aroudn 2-3 bunkers fill it up with marines off 1 rax then 1 fac, make few tanks, around 10 will do, meanwhile the first few battlecruisers comes out, and starts to kill 1 by 1 by 1, can finish all in 30 mins. However, can get much a earlier time with Zerg, STRAIGHT away get lurkers, if u get 4pooled, restart, send 1 lurker to each bases lol pwnt, 23mins~ a hour is really impatient to watch.. :S

Guys, I can post patch dates if you need 'em. Replays that were recorded on 1.10 wont work on 1.08 etc. There is really no way to tell (as far as I know) which version the replay was recorded on. But I assume everyone uses the latest version to date, in that case: I can give you a list of when the patches were released, so you can look at file_mod date of the .rep file and decide which patch to play it on.

there is a way to tell which verison the replay is... :] But, who cares.. the most up to date patch is 1.14 and was released yesterday, so why not do it now on that.
