Pressing down + a in Mega Man 3 while sliding will make Mega Man jump, so I guess progressing in Mega Man 3 will take a bit longer than in the other games, so don't worry about the length, and after all, it's only like 2 minutes between the published movies of 3 and 4. It's not that much shorter, and some parts of that game is going to take a bit longer. What I'm afraid is going to make this movie slow is that you have to shoot in different situations in all games, so you'll probably have to slow down to wait for shots to exit the screen at times.

Well, that's true, sure. The reason I brought up the thought of having to change the route is that some areas may have to be done in moments where the other three games are relatively quiet. Remember, DeHackEd, when doing his Mega Man X and X2 combo run, managed to coordinate a number of boss fights in one game to happen when the other couldn't benefit from input, and I think he had to fight two bosses at once only two times or something like that. I figure something related will happen here. Getting the jetski portion of Wave Man's stage to happen at just the right time sounds like an example of such (although I'm not entirely sure whether it'd be considered a quiet section or a demanding one). If they decide to ultimately add Mega Man 1 and 2 into this set, coordinating Quick Man's beam sections would be another, more obvious example.

Well, guys, even with just 4 games in the pack you are going to make historical TAS. But don't overuse cheap tricks (I mean tricks that LOOK cheap, like playing half a level in first game when other games show some intro or menu screen), that's what ruins the external semblance of fantastic challenge of DualTASes. Such moments in MMX1+2 run made my friend think that double-speedrunning is possible even without tool-assistance ("you just need to plan your route, nothing superhuman") while I think the opposite.

You must have read my mind. I had tried MMX1+2 and even MMX1+SMW without tool-assistance. In neither case was I able to pass the first levels in both games without dying.

I think, it strongly depends on games you choose. For example, I tried Rockman + Rockin' Kats without saves and frame advance, and quite easily managed to walkthrough whole level (in Rockman) without dying (but still taking damage) - but I used a lot of chaep tricks (like using spin in RK to progress in Rockman) so I doubt this run was entertaining. From today's point of view it seems impossible to make anything really valuable without tools.

I passed SMB3-All Stars 1-1 and 1-2 and SMW Yoshi's Island 2 simultaneously without dying. That's as far as I got before things got awkward fast, though. Also, playing two copies of SMB3 with a deliberate desync was rather interesting.

I do have a partner on this big project you know :) Anyway, soon as Im done with Mega Man 3 (will soon begin working on the 7th stage; Snake Man and then Gemini Man left) Baxter and me have some serious route discussion ahead. Imagine how difficult that will be :( For instance, the longest Mega Man run is 4 (34:34) while the other runs are less than 32 minutes (except for Mega Man 5 which is currently 33 minutes long). So what we must do is, figure out a route for the other games to obviously "synchronize" them so they end at the same time when they are done OR simply finish each game with the same input and dont bother about this "synchronization". Edit: What me and Baxter agreed on is to play a bit slowly on Mega Man 3 and 6.

Of course the six-game (or four-game) TAS will be much longer than that! Look at DeHackEd's X & X2 run. It is 41 minutes, 9 minutes longer than the X2 run, which is 32 minutes and can be improved by at least half a minute.

I also collected all of Zero's parts. It's not really a fair comparison. On the topic of endings, I suggest ignoring trying to sync them all up. You'll just give yourself an ulcer. Any hope of doing it would require massive planning of the games that just doesn't happen without a testrun, and even then stuff will happen. If anyone's wondering about AVI encoding, I already have a quad encoder, and it's demonstrated in the bigame thread. Angerfist: I wish you well on this suicidal run. You have more guts than me.

While Baxter is climbing on some mountain in Germany or in Switzerland, I'll try to figure out the route. So the issue was to try find a perfect route for the purpose of ending all games simultaneously. Note: There is 1-2 second margin of error. Measurement: Besides stages 1 and 8, once the menu screen appeared until the next one was how I measured each stage. On another note, everytime Mega Man must go through a left-zone will most probably cause difficulties for us knowing that about 90% of all the zones requires you to move to the right.
