I know this has probably been asked a million times before but I'm new so gimme a break. Will Nesvideos be hosting PS2/NGC/Xbox speedrun videos? Because I see that most if not all of the speeds runs posted on this site is faster than the ones posted on speeddemosarchive.com. I would really like to see speedruns or crazy combos of current games.

You don't seem to understand how the movies at this site are made. Please read http://tasvideos.org/WhyAndHow.html. The videos here are faster than the ones at SDA because our movies are made with emulators and we use tools such as slow motion, whereas the movies at SDA are made with real consoles. There are no PS2/NGC/Xbox emulators that could be used to make videos like the ones here, which is why videos for those consoles can't be accepted here.

To be a little more specific, no we aren't going to post speedruns of these consoles here because emulators for these consoles do not exist and/or do not support recording. Also, ROMs for these emulators would be absolutely HUGE and would most likely ruin everything. You seem to be missing on the main goal here. We are NOT speedrunners. We are people who make tool-assisted speed runs. It's a lot different than what they do on SDA. Please read the Why and How FAQ to know more about what we do and how we do it. The main thing is we're using emulators with slowdown and re-recording; we're not playing on the real console with real human reflexes. I'm not saying we suck at gaming, we just do something different here. Hope it helps you understand a little bit more what this site is all about.

I just saw a 600 GB drive over at Best Buy the other day. Space may not be that big of a problem in the near future. I think the bigger problem is getting an emulator to actually work on any of our machines even close to the way it runs on the actual hardware. If it becomes possible in the near future, then hey, I'd love to see a Metroid Prime TAS as much as the next person.

Would you love to make it? I could see that taking a while. It would take someone crazy. Someone like JXQ.

There is no 600gb hard drive. The biggest hdd's now are 500GB and 750GB (just release by seagate).

Yes there is, there are even 800Gb HDDs and even bigger but they're externa.l

I know that. What I was refering to was not space available, I was more refering to handling or ROMs. Either you want to download it, or copy it from a DVD, or use the actual game (which is impossible for Xbox since it can't be read on PC), it still remains a 4.7gb folder! 4.7gb is huge. Being that the AVI files would be smaller than the ROM itself... I mean... there's something "not convenient" about this... Just my opinion, by the way.

Do some research before arguing with me. Show me a manufacturer that makes SINGLE 800GB hdds. There is no manufacturer that makes SINGLE 800GB hdds. The externel hdds you are talking about are a combination of SINGLE hdds that add up to 800GB, not a single 3.5inch 800GB

Actually, isn't there a working PS2 emulator that has rerecording features? I remember someone made a demo video of FFX and it was pretty good, though I do recall them saying it was "too hard" to pull off as it required an enormous amount of space. And for the record, most PS games are roughly 700mb a disc, and I have no idea how big PS2 ones are. I don't think hard drive space is much of a problem with computers nowadays. Mine has about 160 gigs. =/

well, a double-layer DVD is 8.5GB, right? I bet most of us own more games than we can fit on our HDs.

Umm, get off your high horse, son. Not only are you arguing about utterly meaningless semantics that no one, I repeat, no one cares about, but Data has a storage capacity of 800 quadrillion bits. That's 88 petabytes, son.

It's not meaningless, it's just to clear things up on wrong assumptions. I don't know what's your point about the 88PB and I could care less. A dual-layer disc is not 8.5GB it's actually 7.96GB. Wanna know your storage ABC's? http://www.videohelp.com/

Listen to you babbling about your purple-layer discs when they can't even hold 1% of a quad. Maybe you should go to that link you provided and find some forums where people care so much about storage capacities they will get down on the floor and worship you when you bring your irrelevant knowledge into play. I'm sure you can come across as more of an asshole, too, why don't you give it a try?

No, but not exactly "no". It just not today, not tomarrow, not 1 week from now. It's either much later in future (2+ years) or never. Someone has to make GOOD open source emulator and TASer need to have good computer to make movie. So there's no point in continuing this dicussion, right?... right?

We are not a speedrunning site. We are also not a site on which you can have hot-tempered debates about hard drives. You say that we don't know our "storage ABC's", but you didn't even read what this site is all about before you made this topic. This topic can only go downhill from here, so I'm locking it.
