Oh, I thought the courtyard was only blocked off after meeting Zelda the first time. But I guess they could have made a second condition to set the flag just to be safe.
put yourself in my rocketpack if that poochie is one outrageous dude
As xebra said, I also played around with the bombchus and dodongo for maybe 20-30 minutes last week. What I did was go through the dungeon until I could drop down onto the dodongo's head, then center myself between the eyes and set off a bombchu. It was hard to time the drop correctly so that it would explode before going way off-center, but I'm pretty sure I got it at least once (maybe up to 4 or 5 times). Sadly, neither of the eyes lit up, like CoolBumpty found. This is one of the times I wish the view could be switched to overhead, since it would help so much with the positioning and release.
I think you can go back again before getting all three stones. I seem to remember doing that once out of curiosity or something.
Zora's Fountain? Yes, but the time spent there is so brief that it's negligible. You do a jump-slash into Jabu-Jabu, and savewarp immediately after beating the dungeon and receiving the sapphire. I believe that even with the time spent there, Guano can still make it to Hyrule Castle in time. (I lost a few seconds on the way to Lake Hylia and still made it.) In any case, the time will be tight so Guano will need to move as efficiently as possible between places. For one, in Lake Hylia I think it's faster to swim to the bottle after fishing than (back)walking and diving.
From what I've heard, it's possible to light both eyes using a regular bomb but not a bombchu.

This pretty much proves that you can't lit both eyes with a single explosion, you can't even lit both eyes at the same time with 2 bombs!
That just proves you can't light the left eye during the cutscene for the right eye. Given that, it does seem a bit unlikely you can light both eyes at once, but we still don't know what would happen if you hit both eyes with an explosion at the same time. (If it's possible to do so.)

I just made it to the Fishing Pond right when sunrise came. If time stops in the house as well as Jabu etc...., then everything should work out perfectly with catching the Castle Bridge right on time.
Change my sig. again, and I will murder your pet fish.
All right. It would be good if you could release an updated video once you're in Jabu-Jabu.
...
Fishing Pond (Golden Scale glitch)
Lake Hylia (Bottle + Warp)
Zora's Domain (Show the king bottle w/letter)
Zora's Fountain (Jump slash into Jabu-Jabu)
Jabu-Jabu
...
Yeah, the route I'm thinking about is
Jabu-Jabu
Zora's Fountain (Catch fish in bottle)
Zora's Domain (Warp)
Lake Hylia (Owl warp)
Hyrule Castle (Get Lullaby)
[Savewarp]
Lost Woods
Sacred Forest Meadow
Goron City
Either this or what I posted last night.
I'm no expert when it comes to actual gameplay, though from what I've seen the angle of the jump and the position of the jumpslash both need to be pixel-perfect.
AKA (the same guy who made the video) is the master at this trick. Hopefully he'll give a few pointers.
Of course, the run's looking very nice so far. I'm predicting a time of around 1.5 hours for the entire child portion.

HA, finally got in! Ill post a WIP when Jabu is finished
EDIT:
AHH I FUDGED UP! I got to jump back into his mouth because instead of replacing the deku sticks with the bottle, I instead replaced the slingshot which will be needed and I can save a hell of a lot more time without that white loading screen for the Menu
Also, what is the reason for Catching a fish in Zora's Fountain?
Change my sig. again, and I will murder your pet fish.
You can then do the trick switch trick. I wonder if it would be worth to use it in jabu-jabu? or just dodongo's?
I take it that you're using the mini-boss skip in Jabu-Jabu.

I've been waiting for this run for a long time. The WIP is extremely impressive and well-played, GuanoBowl. But, am I really the only one who is completely annoyed by the fact that 90% of the time you can't see where Link is going? I know it's faster to walk backwards and all but is it really that much faster? I mean in a TAS that is potentially going to be up to 3 hours long is the speed improvement really going to be worth the decrease in entertainment value?
I don't mean to be a pain in the ass or anything... If nobody else agrees with me I'll shut up. I just find it difficult to watch.
EDIT: ...Probably a lot more than 3 hours, lol.
Congrats on finally getting the jumpslash.
I'll try to plan out the item equipping from here on out. Sorry.
Routes for the last two child dungeons are up. The updated general route and the stuff below are on my wiki.
Jabu-Jabu Route
(Note: B1 has been mislabeled as 2F.)
Callout 1 (Slingshot door)
Callout 2
Callout 3 (Dialogue + Follow down)
Callout 4 (In the tunnel, throw the princess upwards to hit the switch)
B (B1 <-> 1F elevator)
Callout 2
Callout 3
Callout 5 (Hold down switch + Get boomerang)
Callout 3 (Carry her back)
Callout 2 (Bombchu boost + toss her onto switch)
Callout 9 (Boomerang switch + Sidehop)
BOSS (Use a Deku stick)
Dodongo's Cavern Route
Callout 1 (Bombchu eyes)
Callout 18 (Switch trick - This is why the fish is needed)
Callout 20 (Bombchu the floor)
BOSS (Use last Deku stick)

Yes. According to this site backwalking is nearly 1.5x faster than running normally. It will add up. Plus, we're under a time constraint here: we need to get to Hyrule Castle before sunset, so every second counts. Backwalking is more than a time-saver; it's a strategy -- for one, it's the only way to avoid getting hurt when climbing Death Mountain Trail in the section with falling rocks.
I'd estimate the final time to be just under three hours, with the child portion done in about 1.5 hours, plus or minus ten minutes. Timing ends when all input ceases, i.e. at the message, "...the way you are supposed to be."
Sidestepping is faster than backwalking when climbing an upward incline.
It's only going to be done in Dodongo's. The time saved in Jabu-Jabu is not worth the trip down the waterfall and back. (Remember that you can't catch a fish when the letter is still in the bottle.) The bombchu blast will be part of the route.
Its much faster to roll into the corners of Jabu, but Yautja knows best when it comes to it and itll take many re-records to achive. Jumpslashing into Jabu is roughly 5 seconds slower than rolling. The actual line of the jump doesn't need to be exact, but the timing needs to be frame perfect.
Edit:
I loaded the V64 file and it starts off like a speed run until Guamo gets the sword and then he messes about and dies. After that its just him messing about in Kokiri.
